went for a birthday - told the server several times ... she brought out desert for other ppl - not the bday boy - (we had to ask for something for him) after we had discussed bringing out a bday dessert for him. I tipped well but I felt like I shouldn't have.
Unique style of burgers, most are listed as two patties, but each is a thin patty, if you want it medium rare, they combine the two patties into one. The truffle fries are outstanding. The burgers aren't huge, but due to the varied ingredients, can be filling. The decor is basic and therefore if they are busy, it can be extremely noisy if you aren't sitting outside (if available). It is loud enough that you can't hold a conversation with the person across the table. This particular night, people came in with their youngsters and the adults pretty much ignored their yelling and misbehaving. The corkage fee is $10 and it is reasonable for this type of restaurant. If it wasn't for being able to make a reservation via Open Table, I doubt that we would have gone. This restaurant would not rank high on our list of places to return to, but we would. The waitress was good, she made sure our orders were taken, checked to be sure all was OK and did a very good job.
Dinner before a play.
Umami Burger was delicious. Everyone in our party was happy with their food. Great service!!
tap beer was not recently taped. food was cold and raw.
The hamburger meat, usually very fresh/nevr frozen, tasted like a frozen pattie, maybe fresh the day before
Made a reservation for 6 people for dinner before a show at the Civic Arts Center. Great service and delicious food! Highly recommend!
Would have been perfect but for the bizarre corporate policy of not offering hot drinks on the menu. Never heard of a restaurant unwilling to serve a customer a cup of coffee. Very very odd!!
I have to say that at first I was skeptical about having an "impossible" burger. But I am now a believer, and the way Umami Burger prepared the burger was scrumptious! The service was wonderful - polite, prompt, and engaging. He answered our questions about food choices, and bantered with us briefly. The food was fresh, well prepared and, as the name states, filled with umami flavor!
We will definitely go again and again, and recommend it to our friends.
Awesome food and drinks, great spot for before or after a show at the Civic Arts Center.
The food was excellent as was our service! Great night!
I would only recommend this place because the food is amazing. Every time we’ve gone the service though, is extremely slow. We went on Saturday night and were sitting at our table for at least 20 minutes before our server even acknowledged us. He only had one other table outside that we could see. We sat for 30 minutes easily before we put our order in. Maybe they were understaffed that evening, but every time the service is very slow. Food is amazing and served quickly, but you’ll wait at least 10 minutes before putting a drink order in guaranteed.
My Wife and I had dinner prior to seeing show ant Civic Arts Plaza.
From the start, the host was very nice and accommodating. She engaged with us and helped find a perfect table. She even asked whose birthday it was. The food was really good and arrived timely. It was served hot and fresh. The restaurant was not very busy on a Saturday night. The only thing that was a little bit of a disappointment was the server said they don't do anything to celebrate a birthday.
Horrible quality. Hamburger tasted like a piece of cardboard. Onion rings, breading where was the onion. Way overpriced. Bring back the old Umami that was delicious.
Great service, great food. A go to place on my list.
Been there before, but we were seated at the front booth. It was freezing outside and the doors wouldn't close all of the way. So, it was super cold during our meal due to the door not being closed.
We loved Umami in the past but were disappointed at the changes in the menu. Most notably was that the Hatch burger was discontinued. What we did order was still good. We were told our party could only be accommodated in the outside patio, which was fine since we were assured the heaters were working. Only one was working so it was too cold.
Much improved from when they first opened. The options have expanded and the burgers are varied and with interesting combinations. The maple covered bacon sweet potato fries as rich and delicious but very rich and filling so it is best as a side order for two. Lots of bacon bits and great flavor. The sliders are more than ample unless you're a big eater. Though three different ones are listed, you can combine them in any order and just have 3 of one or mix them as you please. The wine list is very limited and the corkage fee is way too high at $15 for this type of restaurant and one with such a weak wine list offering. A corkage fee of $5 or $10 would be more reasonable and I feel encourage people to return. The service was very good, the waitress was attentive and checked to make sure all was good without being over bearing.
I have dined at this restaurant a few times. However, i am surprised how uncozy and uncomfortable the seats are - metallic seats without cushions, even in the back! The ambience is quite uninviting and the food is overpriced burgers. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant.
Excellent quality beef. Very tasty, but how about a plain burger on the menu?
This place is awesome. Best burger I ever ate! Would recommend to anyone.
Good food, friendly staff, nice location, but badly managed. We made a reservation, but the system was broken. Fortunately, we got there 25 minutes early and were able to get our name down, so we were actually seated around 7:10. Waited until about 7:35 to be acknowledged. The waiter was apologetic, and took both our drink order and food order at the same time. One drink and all of the food came first. It was all delicious, but weird to not be able to toast first. The whole place was just...off. Until they get things better coordinated, I cannot recommend.
Was there on a sat night before the evening rush. Somehow my food came out cold and the gourmet cheese just felt like tasty cheese wiz. Now imagine that cheese wiz cold. Servers were nice, but mine tried to rush me out of his section..... not high quality experience....
Impossible burger was a great vegetarian option and tasted great. Prices are on the high side but they have good burgers. Truffle fries my wife liked a lot. Drinks are standard.
we celebrated our 18th anniversary
staff was so nice and service excellent
Pre-theater, and it was perfect for that. Being a "senior", I found the noise level a bit high, but tolerable. Being a vegan I appreciated that the menu was adaptable as far as the "burger" went, though the "impossible burger" is dry and tougher than a Beyond Meat or Hungry Planet Burger, but it was grilled and tasty. The vegan bun was doughy. For a pre-theater vegan meal where we could walk to the show, it was perfect for our needs. It is not a place I would plan to go to if I weren't going to the theater next door.
Food was good just to little for price. The burger looked lonely by itself on the plait and at $13+ would it kill them to give you some fries with your burger.
Very quiet for a Sunday evening. The entrees (French burger and Ahi Poke & Wasabi salad) tasty and presented beautifully. The French fries were basically French fries. The shishiti peppers could have been charred more, and the sauce a little too sweet.
Food is expense and the taste is not great. You're better off going somewhere else.
We had amazing service here! The food was great, I loved the 3 slider option. The truffle is my favorite!!!!!!! Soooooo good!
I made a reservation online and there was no record of it when we arrived. My family had to physically move tables outside to accommodate our group of 8 as there was no seating inside. Waiter was also bartender. We had to go to bar to get a drink, he was working alone on a holiday Sunday with a decent crowd of customers. Also, we ordered the cheesy potatoes as an appetizer (when we finally had some service) only to be told they were completely sold out. A prior party day before depleted their supply. Everyone apologetic but this was a birthday celebration and was not the experience I hoped for. My first time and my last time. Very disappointing!
I loved the sunny side burger with the fried egg. Delicious. The bartender was also our waiter and he was amazing at guiding us through the menu and suggesting toppings.
Food was delicious! Our server Brenda was great! I can't believe that the Impossible Burger wasn't beef...
Always love umami burger. Especially their Ahi Burger!
AMAZING. The food is divine, the staff is attentive, and the views of the lake are adorable. I cannot stress enough how delicious the food is.
Service was slow, noise level was high!
It took 45 minutes to be served our appetizers! Service was soooo slow and the food was not worth the wait. With better choices in the same center, we won't be back.
Went for the Impossible Burger - it was fantastic! Great and friendly service.
