Food is really goo except that the burgers were rare at best even though they were ordered medium.
Amazing meal. Pricey but worth it. No one makes the Impossible Burger like Umami Burger. Fresh moist and tastes like a rare hamburger.
Burgers are okay. Definitely over priced and the restaurant is often quite empty when I stop by. If you are wanting a pretty average experience but pay a lot of money... go for it.
Where do you begin. Place was almost empty around 615pm. Waiter sits us then disappears. Comes back to fraternize with a table that appears to be the only one he cares about.
Tall African American waiter appeared totally checked out. I asked 3 times for the same soda and my daughters food came out with the cheese still cool and unmelted on her burger.
He never asked about our food even though she didn’t eat it.
He never did any refills and had to be hunted down to get our check. Over all a very poor experience.
Didn’t honor reservation. Not sure if that was a glitch on their end or through OpenTable, but had special event not accepting reservations.
Great food and great service!
Service was excellent. Everyone was very kind. However, the food and ambience has gone downhill. The chairs were unclean, the wall decor was peeling at the edges. My burger was tasty but the buns were inedible (dry, chewy and crumbling apart). I love Umami burger and I will still frequent the downtown locations but will have to go elsewhere when in Pasadena.
Was not a fan of the truffle burger. Normally I am with truffle flavored items but not this time. The sides were on point and the others in my party had sunny side and umami burger which they both liked.
A great dining experience. We were a party of 4. Service was attentive even though it was busy. Burgers were from good to very delicious. Cocktails were interesting and tasty. Fried appetizers were crunchy and didn’t taste greasy.. I liked the music they were playing.
The Impossible Burger is the best burger! Vegan or not!
The burger albeit tasty was pricey. Service was good; kind of a noisy eatery. Probably won’t go back...
This place was just ok. The food was average. I prefer the burgers at Red Robin. There is no ambiance at this location. The maple bacon old fashioned tasted strange. There was a bug crawling across our table that I was trying to get rid of while the waitress was standing there. She didn’t seem to notice or mind. My wife and I tried it because of a Travelzoo deal. I have no need to go back.
Food was good but service was extremely slow despite almost no other customers. Building needs help, bathrooms iffy.
Our server appeared new to the job so we waited quite a long time to get straws, condiments and food. When our food finally arrived, after 30 minutes of wait time, our burgers were already cold.
So disappointed! Umami has changed so much unfortunately :( they don’t even have their special ketchup anymore cause for some reason they thought it would be great idea to make it vegan ketchup. I was literally so annoyed when I heard this as they had such a special ketchup. I’m not a fan of their new management. BRING BACK THE OLD UMAMI!!!
Hostess/ waitress was sweet, we were having very open conversations, her recommending things etc, good environment, and food! The chicken sandwich is so good. Will be coming back again
Great burgers, loved the Brussel sprouts
We've visited umami plenty times in the past, so for us it was a nice little date to a place we knew had great food. We loved the seasonal burger.
We arrived at 11:45 and there was only 1 waitress working the lunch shift and it appeared only 1 cook. Both employees were doing the very best they could but it was busy. I don’t understand how they could only have 1 server working at lunch time. It was almost 1 by the time I got out of there and we didn’t receive our appetizer until after we received our lunch. It was my first time here and I was not impressed.
It's like a coffee shop...no ambience....hard chairs & booths. Food was way overpriced & burgers not
half as good as In & Out.
The hamburger (a Waygu burger) was very good, although with no sides whatsoever, it was overpriced. The salad was average, the brussels sprouts were drenched in oil. The ambience is horrible; bright lights, formica feel.
Went for the Impossible burger. Told the truffle version was the one to get by the waiter. It was awful. Heavy greasy and a gooey mess. The burger lives up to the hype that it tastes like meat but the rest-you can have it. Not impressed an overly priced for what we received. 2 burgers, truffle cheese fries, also nothing to write home about and 1 glass of wine, with a tip, almost $60. Never again.
The chicken sandwich was really good.
Great burgers. A little pricey by the time you add in extras, but the burgers can't be beat! The Umami ketchup is super yummy!!!
Love Umami! Food and drinks never disappoint! Only complaint would be that we really wished this location’s interior decor and ambiance matched the gourmet level of food and excellent level of service.
Good food but nothing spectacular.
Manly burger was very good. Service very poor and value for money very low.
We got several burgers to share so we could get a taste of all the best offerings here. The Umami burger was everyone's favorite at our table. We also loved the french fries with gravy and short ribs, yummy! And don't skip the "Adult" root beer float; "hard" root beer with lucious ice cream, what a great dessert!
Went for late night after my brothers graduation and loved it! Casual but elevated food. Love all the djfferent sauces and unique burgers
food was good, they were out of things that I had originally wasted to order. Waitress talked way to fast and not loud enough for noise level. Food and drinks great concept, me and my gf both agreed too much sauce on burgers though. Definite second visit though all in all.
Medium Rare was completely rare.
The impossible burger was delicious! Makes converting over to veganism more of a possibility for me. Would recommend to all!
I've been a vegetarian for almost 10 years. This is the best veggie burger I've ever had!!!
Best Cali Burgers Anywhere! Outstanding wait staff - not only was our order perfect, but we could see them perfectly balance time with other patrons as well
Onion rings were mostly greasy tempura. Not my favorite. I liked the Brussels sprouts but otherwise the food was not that great. The full bar might appeal to those that want drinks and a hamburger.
I recently discovered The Impossible Burger at Umami Burger in Pasadena, and now I'm hooked! It's an entirely plant based burger that looks like meat, tastes like meat, smells like meat, chews like meat, and is simply delicious! Even my non-vegetarian friends were knocked out by them! That alone is reason to return often, but, in addition, the cocktails are good, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is lively. It's rather loud, so it's not the place to go for an intimate conversation, but it's a fun place.
tried the impossible burger. liked it i don't eat meat.
My "manly burger" was great and my girlfriend really enjoyed her "Impossible burger."
Love the late night social hour with $7 cocktails and $3 truffle fries. They also have $6 starters and $4 drafts. The servers are very friendly and attentive. They have the impossible burger, the vegetarian burger that "bleeds." Located in Old Town parking in the garage on Raymond and Green is easy.
