Not very attentive or engaging
Ambiance was amazing. Unfortunately the burgers were not brought out hot and, our sides were brought after the fact.
Burgers we a bit cold and the flavors therefore not vibrant. A very disappointing burger from a brand that is usually delicious. Fries were average. Atmosphere was a bit cold and stark. Good service. And a nice martini!
Great location for several downtown theaters. The food was delicious as usual and the service was terrific.
Delicious burgers and good beer! Excellent service. Try the dessert special - tempura, chocolate, ice cream YUM!
Great food. Good decor. Good for kids. Convenience location to theater.
Delicious food. Nice selection at the bar.
Umami burger is the BEST!!!! Love, love LOVE the Impossible burger!!! and the Tempura asparagus! YUM! This location is the perfect spot to catch a bite before a concert at the Ace or the Orpheum!
Our server, Sally, was very attentive and friendly and Umami Burger is conveniently located next to the Orpheum Theatre. That's almost where the positive comments end. The ambiance resembles an abandoned warehouse being converted to a restaurant with as little money spent as possible on atmosphere. It is about as loud as a restaurant can get, making it very difficult and frustrating to try to carry on a conversation. The chicken "club" sandwich was small and overpriced. The fries had a metallic taste. Oh, yes, one more positive to end with: The green iced tea was good and refills were free.
最近,日本に上陸しましたが,Impossible シリーズは,日本では食べられません.とても大豆を使っているとは思えない,肉としか思えないバーガーでした.ぜひ,一度,体験を!
Delicious food and drinks
Tempura asparagus is a great and love the impossible burger!
I love Umami burger and since there isn't one near me in Long Beach, I decided to eat here because it's right next to the Orpheum and I had a concert to attend. Nice location, a good amount of noise, but not too bad. They need to learn how to lettuce wrap their burgers if they are going to offer this on the menu. Instead I got my truffle burger with a piece of lettuce on the bottom and on top and I basically had to cut it with a fork and knife - so more of a salad than a "burger". Great flavor anyway. Love the brussel sprouts, but they are just a bit too sweet.
Impossible Meat sliders were good, but tiny. The straight edges makes them seem less beef-like. Pretty expensive for lunch - $66 for 3 people. Especially $7 for small bottle of cold-brew coffee.
My Classic Impossible Cheeseburger was amazing! You would NEVER know it wasn’t meat, my friends truffle burger was as good as she remembered. Only complaint, I ordered onion rings with our drink orders and they never came and I asked about them twice. When our food was delivered I asked again and they clearly had forgotten. I finally got them after the burgers.
Food was great and waiter very pleasant.
Went back after the show for a drink and waiter was very pleasant.
We came with a party of 12 at 5:30 on a Saturday night, and it was great. We were seated right away, and the service was great. It wasn't super busy in there, which we appreciated. We enjoyed the food and the drinks, and would definitely go there again.
Excellent quality food, and it arrived quickly. Good value for the money as the portions are good. Service was great.
When I got there, there were several spaces at the bar open. I sat down and the bar proceeded to fill up.I asked for a menu and ordered a drink. 20 minutes later I still hadn't received my drink, though several adjacent customers had. And the Server was taking their food orders when they had been there 5 minutes. I was not happy. I ordered tempura Onion Rings, which were so greasy I ate only 3. My burger was greasy too. I ended up getting sick from that meal, and am still recovering from it 3 days later
We love this place! The ambiance is lively. Great people place. The servers are super friendly. “Impossible” burgers to die for, but even better — the onion rings! We couldn’t stand it and ordered a second dish. The restaurant is smack downtown on Broadway next door to the Orpheum Theater. Try it out and have fun!
The ketchup with the fries was outstanding and the fried cookie with ice cream dessert was amazing!!! It took a bit long to get our food once we ordered but it was still good!
The truffle vegan burger is absolutely delicious. Looking forward to my next one.
Really cold beer! Great, friendly service! Tasty fish taco and slider appetizers! Great beer choices! My friend loved the burger without the bun!
Mediocre food and service. There are better locations than this one!
Whole place sucked
Took 20 minutes for drinks to arrive
Food was lousy
Service was quite slow. We were going to a concert and allowed ourselves 1.5 hours so we didn’t need to rush. We were barely able to order two rounds of drinks. We would’ve ordered more if we could’ve found our waiter. At the end we were rushing to make the concert. Everyone was perfectly nice so perhaps the waiter was overwhelmed and understaffed? The food is great and I went to Umami at the Grove to take my kids for lunch and it was great.
Had the truffle burger with maple bacon sweet potato fries. Both were very good. We were seeing a concert at the Orpheum and was so happy to find out the venue was next door. Service was good. Would highly recommend,
Food was DELICIOUS and service was GREAT! Happy hour was totally worth it
Hip and well designed restaurant. Unfortunately the host was absolutely lost. I was by myself and he said they don't have tables for 1. He basically ignored the fact that I had a reservation and sat next to the door for at least 20min waiting for a seat. I had to suggest myself that I will grab a seat at the bar whenever someone leaves.
The rest of the staff was very friendly and professional.
I had the impossible burger, it was okay, definitely not amazing. Would most likely not have this one again.
Overall I'd say the place is a bit overrated. I expected to be more wow'd by the food.
Had tickets to see Lewis Black at the Orpheum theater. You couldn’t ask for a better or more convenient location.
First time at this location of Umami but all of them have killer burgers, apps and even salads for those trying to keep it on the healthy. Great cocktails as well. Only complaint was that everything took forever. Felt like they weren’t expecting it to be that busy and didn’t have enough help. If you’re not fully staffed on a Saturday night when there is a show at the theater 3 doors down I’m not sure when you would be. Waited close to 30 minutes for a round of drinks due to only having 1 bartender for the entire restaurant. Our waiter was great but his hands were extremely full. They comped the drinks without us even asking which was really nice. Great food and great drinks! Just make sure to give yourself at least 90 minutes of cushion or you’ll be late for the show.
Service was excellent. Was a little disappointed that there was no pineapple jalapeno lemonade made but the strawberry basil lemonade was ok.
I had a nice time at Umami Burger! We went during their restaurant week special, where you could get one of their burgers + fries + drink for $15 (lunch). We had the manly and the bacon burger with maple bacon fries and truffle cheese fries. We also added the stuffed tots as an appetizer. To drink, I had the pineapple-jalapeno aqua fresca, and my girlfriend had the lemonade. Everything was quite good, and the servers were friendly. I really liked the maple bacon fires - every fry had a nice coating of glaze. The house-made tots were stuffed with cheese and perfectly fried. The burgers had many toppings but were still definitely manageable (not one of those stupid burger "experiences" where you can't even get your mouth around it). They also offer the Impossible Burger, which is cool. The drinks were tangy without being overly sweet. Honestly, would definitely recommend to someone looking for a good burger experience that is still creative.
great pick! Ventured there during DineLA....GREAT GREAT find!!!
Fantastic and tasty food. Love the tempura asparagus and chicken club
nice bar for a burger joint and really, really good burgers.
Great food in DTLA!
4 of us went on a Saturday before a concert at the Orpheum Theater. It is two doors away from the theater. I definitely recommend reservations. It was busy and there was a line to be seated. The service was excellent in spite of being crowded. The food is good, but not stellar, except for the desserts. It is worth it just for that. It took a while to get the food and all we ordered were hamburgers and fries. They did comp the fries because of it. Speaking of fries they are only good when hot so eat them fast. We would definitely go again.
Our experience was amazing. We were attending a concert next door . Our server listened to all of our requests and delivered with a smile . The food was perfect and my kids loved their burgers, as well. We were there two years ago and we had the Brussel sprouts and we were sad that they had changed them. We enjoyed our night just the same.
Food was good . Fries were cold and they bought us a fresh hot batch ! Fun place . Casual
Hot spot for a quick Gastro Pub Meal. NIce Vibe .....Solid food choices, You won't be disappointed!
