Umami Burger - Broadway
When I got there, there were several spaces at the bar open. I sat down and the bar proceeded to fill up.I asked for a menu and ordered a drink. 20 minutes later I still hadn't received my drink, though several adjacent customers had. And the Server was taking their food orders when they had been there 5 minutes. I was not happy. I ordered tempura Onion Rings, which were so greasy I ate only 3. My burger was greasy too. I ended up getting sick from that meal, and am still recovering from it 3 days later
We love this place! The ambiance is lively. Great people place. The servers are super friendly. “Impossible” burgers to die for, but even better — the onion rings! We couldn’t stand it and ordered a second dish. The restaurant is smack downtown on Broadway next door to the Orpheum Theater. Try it out and have fun!
The ketchup with the fries was outstanding and the fried cookie with ice cream dessert was amazing!!! It took a bit long to get our food once we ordered but it was still good!
The truffle vegan burger is absolutely delicious. Looking forward to my next one.
Really cold beer! Great, friendly service! Tasty fish taco and slider appetizers! Great beer choices! My friend loved the burger without the bun!
Mediocre food and service. There are better locations than this one!
Whole place sucked
Took 20 minutes for drinks to arrive
Food was lousy
Service was quite slow. We were going to a concert and allowed ourselves 1.5 hours so we didn’t need to rush. We were barely able to order two rounds of drinks. We would’ve ordered more if we could’ve found our waiter. At the end we were rushing to make the concert. Everyone was perfectly nice so perhaps the waiter was overwhelmed and understaffed? The food is great and I went to Umami at the Grove to take my kids for lunch and it was great.
Had the truffle burger with maple bacon sweet potato fries. Both were very good. We were seeing a concert at the Orpheum and was so happy to find out the venue was next door. Service was good. Would highly recommend,
Food was DELICIOUS and service was GREAT! Happy hour was totally worth it
Had tickets to see Lewis Black at the Orpheum theater. You couldn’t ask for a better or more convenient location.
First time at this location of Umami but all of them have killer burgers, apps and even salads for those trying to keep it on the healthy. Great cocktails as well. Only complaint was that everything took forever. Felt like they weren’t expecting it to be that busy and didn’t have enough help. If you’re not fully staffed on a Saturday night when there is a show at the theater 3 doors down I’m not sure when you would be. Waited close to 30 minutes for a round of drinks due to only having 1 bartender for the entire restaurant. Our waiter was great but his hands were extremely full. They comped the drinks without us even asking which was really nice. Great food and great drinks! Just make sure to give yourself at least 90 minutes of cushion or you’ll be late for the show.
Service was excellent. Was a little disappointed that there was no pineapple jalapeno lemonade made but the strawberry basil lemonade was ok.
I had a nice time at Umami Burger! We went during their restaurant week special, where you could get one of their burgers + fries + drink for $15 (lunch). We had the manly and the bacon burger with maple bacon fries and truffle cheese fries. We also added the stuffed tots as an appetizer. To drink, I had the pineapple-jalapeno aqua fresca, and my girlfriend had the lemonade. Everything was quite good, and the servers were friendly. I really liked the maple bacon fires - every fry had a nice coating of glaze. The house-made tots were stuffed with cheese and perfectly fried. The burgers had many toppings but were still definitely manageable (not one of those stupid burger "experiences" where you can't even get your mouth around it). They also offer the Impossible Burger, which is cool. The drinks were tangy without being overly sweet. Honestly, would definitely recommend to someone looking for a good burger experience that is still creative.
great pick! Ventured there during DineLA....GREAT GREAT find!!!
Fantastic and tasty food. Love the tempura asparagus and chicken club
nice bar for a burger joint and really, really good burgers.
Great food in DTLA!
4 of us went on a Saturday before a concert at the Orpheum Theater. It is two doors away from the theater. I definitely recommend reservations. It was busy and there was a line to be seated. The service was excellent in spite of being crowded. The food is good, but not stellar, except for the desserts. It is worth it just for that. It took a while to get the food and all we ordered were hamburgers and fries. They did comp the fries because of it. Speaking of fries they are only good when hot so eat them fast. We would definitely go again.
Our experience was amazing. We were attending a concert next door . Our server listened to all of our requests and delivered with a smile . The food was perfect and my kids loved their burgers, as well. We were there two years ago and we had the Brussel sprouts and we were sad that they had changed them. We enjoyed our night just the same.
Food was good . Fries were cold and they bought us a fresh hot batch ! Fun place . Casual
Hot spot for a quick Gastro Pub Meal. NIce Vibe .....Solid food choices, You won't be disappointed!
This was THE worst Umami I’ve ever been to. The food was cold when it arrived. We waited 10 minutes to even have a waiter come by, and another 10 to get served drinks. Seriously understaffed. Seriously a let down because the other umami locations have been amazing.
Outstanding food! Very busy and fun. Great ambiance!
They had no record of our reservation and sat us outside in the cold. Never brought menus. We just left and ate somewhere else.
Their online menu had Kim chee burger, short rib gravy fries, short rib sandwich which was not on the just changed menu. Vegetarian burger was awsome. Could not tell. Very tasty burgers but really small for the dollar. Desert was very good. Recommend but pre warn have to order 2 burgers if really hungry.
Food was outstanding. Best burger I’ve had in a long time.
Food and drinks are always consistently good; server Christian is very friendly and charming. Our go-to good energy, comfort-food place when in downtown LA.
The servers were nice, but the overall experience was horrible. We waited 45 mins for our burgers and fries because tickets got mixed up in the back. We had to rush and eat our food so we wouldn't be late for our show next door at the Orphan theater. The food was just ok. I don't plan to recommend or revisit this restuarant.
We had an event at the Orpheum so the location was perfect.
Our waiter was excellent. There were two people with food allergies at the table and he was quick to recommend items and inform the bartender. He was also very attentive and polite. It was a great time for all of us. I’d die aurw go back.
The food and the service were great, but there wasn't very much alcohol in the mixed drinks.
Neither one of us have been to Umami before. Our burgers were delicious, probably one of the best I've ever had. We also had the cheesy tots. These were good as well but, for me, pretty basic. Next time I'll order fries instead. The beer selection was perfect - not too many to choose from and a great selection. Service was very good and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. We'll definitely return to this restaurant.
Next door to the Ace Hotel for a concert. Great food, great atmosphere!
A great place to be !!!!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
The food was okay. The lemonade was horrible. Good place for pre/post theater burger.
Had some appetizers before going to a show! Really great onion rings and tots. Great service from Sean!
I had the Umami burger. It was overcooked, dry, and awful. The sweet potato fries were excellent.
Ate here before a show a the Orpheum, which is literally 2 doors down. If you're going to a show this is the perfect spot. Showed up at 5:30 and had plenty of time to enjoy some drinks and grab a bite before the show. Awesome burgers and sides. Recommended.
The Tater Tots on the appetizer menu are the bomb! Good craft beer list. If you order your meal with some specific details, be sure the wait staff explains it to the chefs and will make it happen. Mine was not what I asked for which was a let down for the experience which brings attention to the table when it is unwanted ,but the manager did correct my bill for my plate. We’ll try them again next time we go to the Ace Hotel/Theatre.
I came here to try the impossible burger. I eat a vegan diet, but I do love the taste of meat, so I was hoping this would live up to the hype. I would say it did, although the patties were pretty thin and fell apart easily. But hey, when you're a plant eater trying to get a meat fix, you don't tend to be picky. The place was empty because I got there on a Sunday just at noon. It was starting to fill up when I left at 12:30. Everyone was very friendly and the food came out quick. It's in a good location with $5 parking a block away.
