The best sushi I have had in a long time. Wonderful ambiance.
It sure if our server was new or not but it seemed as though she was which is surprising for a Four Seasons resort restaurant. Food was good but choices were limited.
We always book a table here whenever we come to the Big Island, and have always had a fantastic and memorable experience. Last night was also "memorable", but not so fantastic.
The location is as spectacular as ever ... seriously the setting and restaurant ambience could not be better. Service is professional and top notch as always. The problem came with the actual meal. First, prices, which were never cheap, have reached ridiculous in some cases. A $40 Mai Tai? And this is not the most expensive cocktail on the menu ... I saw one for $60 ... yes, for a cocktail.
Food prices are in line with what we paid at Manta ... however the food didn't come close to what we experienced at Manta. NY strip was overcooked in parts and wasn't up to $72 quality in the part that wasn't, and the seared Ahi was mushy and tasteless. The handcut noodle dish (at $62) had fantastic crab and abalone but not enough to justify the price.
In summation, not a bad meal as meals go, but worth $414? Sadly, not this time.
We will give it another chance, as anyone can have an off night. Hopefully they rebound because I really want to continue to love this place.
Ambience and Service is next level, the octopus appetizer and tart for desert was delicious. The actual food however was a poor attempt at “fusion”, straight to the trash bin.
Getting to this restaurant in time to watch the sunset is highly recommended. Food was terrific. Atmosphere can’t be beat! Service was outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant…
Fun outdoor atmosphere, great view. Food tasted great!
We had a terrific evening: great food, great service, fabulous views!
Fabulous birthday celebration
Amazing views and the food is also amazing. Can't go wrong here.
Ulu’s was fabulous. The location was spectacular. Bianca - our wait person - was wonderful. And the food …the food…spectacular. Very accommodating to vegans and non-vegans. Highly recommend.
My wife and I have dined at Ulu Ocean Grill several times. Last night, was the first time since the restaurant re-opened during the pandemic. The menu has changed slightly. The food, service and atmosphere are still the very best the Big Island has to offer. However, this restaurant is also the most expensive on the island and they offer no kama'aina discounts. For dinner budget at least $100 per person, excluding beverages.
Great evening and experience as always. Wonderful birthday dessert for the hubby as well.
Amazing meal. Hard to get a reservation,, but worth it.
Lovely open sit tight on the beach. Food was excellent and our fish perfectly cooked (we can’t say that about several of the restaurants we’ve dined st since we’ve been in Hawaii).
This is the place to go if you're looking for a romantic dinner. Place is kind of hard to find if you follow Google Maps. You have to park and walk into and past the Four Seasons reception and follow the pathway to the shore. The good thing is our table was steps away from the water! Food was excellent and our waitress was very attentive. I had the sushi taco from the Friday Night Market menu, which was amazing. For our entree, I had the Hand Cut Noodles while the wife had the Catch of the Day. Both were very tasty. The macadamia nut souffle dessert was delicious! Overall, a perfect dinner!
Oh my gosh…what can I say? This is the BEST. The ambience, the most knowledgeable server we have ever had, but the whole reason we came…the food. And let me tell you, it was the best we have EVER had anywhere.
Everything was overshadowed by literally everyone we came in contact with was trying to deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction possible. The setting on the ocean is spectacular. Every bite of food is over the moon delicious and sparkles with freshness. And the sum of the parts falls short of describing the overall world class experience in dining. If you can even score a reservation here, pull out all the stops to make it happen. This is a not to be missed experience on Hawai’i Island and for me, it stands up to any dining experience I have had any where in the world.
Our server made the experience most memorable. Highly recommend!!!
My husband and I went here on our honeymoon trip, and it was one of the best meals hands down we’ve ever had. We’re major foodies and research restaurants before traveling anywhere. This place….bliss. We’re already planning our next trip to Hawaii, and this will absolutely be on the list again!
Restaurant is right by the water. Very beautiful.
The food list and description looked amazing and we were very excited to get a reservation and come here on our first night in Kona on our honeymoon. The ambience and service was amazing, so friendly and very good. The food did not meet our high expectations. The mahi mahi with yuzu butter was just alright, not bad, not great. The red snapper my partner got was delicious and more interesting. Their service and extra attention provided us with a nice time, but not sure I would recommend the food highly- not worth the value. They had an interesting night market menu - the pork belly bao was good, but could have had more toppings. We also ordered sake and the silent samurai sake was the best part of the evening. Highly recommend doing a sake flight to try the sake.
Really great overall. Service was kind and courteous, food was great and the setting is awesome! Best fine dining experience on the Big Island! Fun wine list with some crazy stuff as well as some fun finds.
We had an absolutely magical experience. The setting was beyond beautiful and the food was incredible. The service was professional and friendly. We were conservative in our ordering and kept our bill under $200 a person. There are hidden gems on the wine list if you know what to look for. Altogether, it was one of the best dinners I’ve had on the island.
Great anniversary experience!
I ordered the lobster and it was pretty pricey $97 . The was 2 oz of meat that was mushy . Very disappointed with the dish . Sushi was ok . Dessert was great and tasty .
Great food and ocean side seating. One of the best restaurants on the island. Creative chef, fresh fish/sushi and a nice wine and sake list.
Beautiful location with waves breaking just beyond the restaurant. Excellent service and focused menu. Prepare to pay lots for everything.
A usual favorite for us when visiting. The service is way above others and the food is irresistible. Had the sushi this time and it was super fresh and tasty.
Amazing food and view during dinner! The mahi mahi was absolutely delicious.
A special night for me. Thank you!
Exquisite dining, perfectly prepared food, most picturesque, excellent wait staff, elegant, zen, and beautiful grounds!
Great , as usual….
Meh. The service was not good. I’m assuming this is because they don’t pay people enough. Typical at fancy chains. Pay your workers enough to care about and take pride in their job!
The food was under salted. The hamachi crudo was amazing. The views are spectacular but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. I expected way more for the brand name and prices.
The service at this restaurant is phenomenal! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and had the best way ever to describe the food, texture, flavors, etc. Always a great experience at Ulu.
My boyfriend and I celebrated our third year anniversary here. They made our night even more special by giving us two delicious desserts on the house to help us celebrate. Our waitress was so sweet and the food was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and can’t wait to come back next time we visit the big island.
Every aspect of the experience was amazing accept the wait for a table even though I had reservation and my reservation was not honored. We waited for 45 min after reservation time, but that was not so much the disappointing part then the fact that others who arrived after us got sited before we did. However, the service was outstanding and made up for it.
We have been going to 'Ulu for years to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. The menu is always varied and delicious, the atmosphere unparalleled with ocean-side dining and excellent staff, and it is particularly accomodating to those that have food sensitivities or allergies. We have come away from each and every experience with absolute gratitude and special memories.
