   I ordered two appetizers. The beets lacked flavor, but the burrata was very nice. The calamari was inconsistent. Some were perfect, others a little chewy. I’ll try this restaurant again. Maybe it’s still working out some kinks. The service was very good.

   The food and service were excellent. Ula also has a variety of cocktails to enjoy. For our entrees, we had the lamb shank and the seafood stew. The desserts were delicious as well.

   It was our 10th anniversary, we had an awesome time in this artistic restaurant! Food was great, service was super!!! Ambiance was good. Our waiter (Bruce) was awesome and prompt on all the courses! We will definitely come back again soon! Music room was really nice and we will try that next time 🥰

   Disappointing. I was expecting SF fine dining but only the prices resembled a big city dining experience. The hostess was rude. Our table was right under a speaker playing inappropriate loud dance music and combined with the loud pots and pans from the kitchen it was hard to hear each other’s conversation. The food was bland and even the bread was old. I would not know where to begin to offer advice on improving this restaurant.

   Service was not good. It wasn’t a busy night. We need to ask for water refilling. The server only refilled one glass while the other glass of my husband need refilling too. Our server never acknowledged that we celebrated birthday. Which was fine. But he hardly come around to check if we need anything else.

    We were surprised how much we liked our experience at Ula. Atmosphere was fun and sophisticated, the food exceeded our expectations, and service was spot on. The prawn cocktail was spicy and fresh; the fried calamari was crunchy and crisp with a hint a jalapeño. The pork chop was tender and flavorful as were the sides of sautéed greens and polenta. The fettuccine Zingara was al-dente and perfectly dressed with the arrabbiata sauce. We will definitely return and hopefully stay for the live music. Wonderful experience!

    I never appreciate when you get the bill and they already factor in a 20% tip and a fee for the healthcare of their staff. A tip percentage is based on quality performance…a restaurant should not be forcing a 20% tip when the service doesn’t match that level.

    It is clear that they did not do anything to update the decor. The bar drinks were ok. The food was ok, not great and service was terrible. Slow to get food to us, the waiter did not warm up to us and generally our experience was just ok. For the price we paid, we expected more. We will not be going back.

    The food is over priced, 10$ for water service and 8$ for bread service? Gratuity included , I like to tip my own. I know it's post Covid but I also don't like getting ripped off, not impressed with the food

    My wife and I will have this place, especially for the fantastic life music !! Food is all good but could be done perhaps with more care and more tastefully - The service though is absolutely fantastic, very caring very personal and forthcoming!

    Terrific service with original and lovely decor and artistry. My wife and I both had the petrale sole and it was terrific in both flavors and presentation. Our son had pasta with prawns and loved the spiciness. Salad and dessert wonderful also. It was my wife's birthday and they started us of with a glass of champagne. Wine list was on the high side but lovely selections. We had a bottle of Cake Bread Chardonnay. Our serve, Ixchel, was knowledgeable and engaging.

    My husband and I had dinner here on April 23rd and we LOVED everything about this place! We were staying at the Westin on Union Square for our first wedding anniversary weekend, and we were delighted by our experience dining at Ula. We had the perfect, cozy table with a view of the whole restaurant, an absolutely outstanding server (Orlando - you are phenomenal, thank you for making our evening extra special), and superb food. The octopus carpaccio had my hubby and I speechless!!! So good! Highly recommend this lovely establishment filled with kind, professional, stellar staff and a menu of delicious food.

    This is our first visit to Ula since it took over the former space occupied by Farallon; the new owner kept the original decor, and we're so glad they did as we have always loved the ocean-theme design. The food offering was diverse, interesting, and delicious. Octopus carpaccio is a rare item on any menu so we had to try it- and it doesn't disappoint! and the 12-hr braised lamb shank is one of the best we have had. This is high praise given the high standards of the bay area food scene. Service was fantastic: our waitstaff Bruce kept us entertained with stories and his great sense of humor. We will definitely be back!

    Unique and special dining spot in SF! The decor is magnificent - underwater themed light fixtures; beautiful flow of tables that creates an intimate feel at each. The food is thoughtful and superb! The service is sophisticated - every need is anticipated. Ula should be a MUST on everyone's restaurant list!

    This was our first time at Ula and we absolutely loved it. The space is sumptuous-beautifully designed and comforting, and very elegant. The cocktails were well-executed and the food was delicious-beautifully presented and unpretentious, but bursting with flavor. Wil definitely go back.

    I brought a large party for business and couldn’t be more pleased with Ula. The food was absolutely fantastic - fresh, simply yet impeccably prepared, and well priced. Also benefited from a great cocktail list and excellent wine menu with a nice range of pricing across many varietals. We were seated in a perfect little alcove that provided ambiance - not some closed off room that felt sterile - and our server (Leon) was attentive and warm.

    Service was disjointed. I stood at the podium for 5 minutes before the maitre d' appeared. The booth and table in which they originally seated us was cramped and noisy. We ordered a dozen oysters, to be followed by a beet salad. They delivered a half dozen oysters and the salad at the same time. It was some time before the other half dozen oysters appeared. Most notably, the petrale sole didn't look like petrale sole and was so overcooked that it was inedible. It's a shame, because the predecessor restaurant, Farallon, was so special.

    Wow, this is a stunning restaurant and kudos to the chefs! We really enjoyed the ambience and every bite! The food was spot on from the appetizer to dessert. And sadly, everything was tainted by the super poor service. There was no host to greet us so the bartender asked us to sit. Eventually someone seated us. Our hopes were high. My husband ordered a coffee with Tia Maria ($17!!!) and while my wine showed up quickly, his didn’t appear until 3 requests later and after we finished our appetizer. It was literally a 4 oz coffee cup with the liqueur and a splash of coffee. Our server was all over the place… we tried to wave him down 4 times before he stopped. We’d been out of water for 30 minutes. And it went on like that the whole dining experience. The worst? The bill was presented with 20% gratuity already added for a party of 2! We really wanted to complain to someone but then came to the conclusion that no one really cared. It was our 30th anniversary highlighted in the reservation, yet not acknowledged in any way. The table next to us got a dessert with a candle burning but no silverware to eat it. And after all that, Open Table sent me an email asking if you aren’t going to show up for your reservation next time, please take the time yo cancel it. JEEZE!!!!! So sad.

    The waiters were rushing us through our meal. I was catching up with a friend and we were enjoying each other's company but they seemed to want us to eat, pay, and get out of there. The restaurant wasn't full and there were plenty of tables available and no one was waiting. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees and 1 dessert but they kept rushing us with each dish to finish eating so they can clear plates.

    Wish the live music could be heard everywhere, much nicer than the canned pop music. Decor is awesome and food was good. Service was just ok. Our server set a completely flat glass of prosecco in front of me and when I pointed out the lack of bubbles he had a few excuses but promptly brought me a good Glass. Took a while to get the check. Really should make the live music able to be heard by all, more tips for the band.

    Overpriced, over-hyped, expensive for what you get. Food is average. Service extremely slow. They automatically added 20% gratuity, which is pathetic, seeing that I would’ve at most allowed 10%, given the poor service and long wait.

    The interior is absolutely gorgeous, unfortunately the menu doesn’t really flow, some dishes are quite overpriced and very mediocre (i.e. the prawn cocktail, house bread), others were tasty and decently priced (petrale sole). Service was definitely lacking, especially considering how few patrons were there. No friendly/social interaction from server, barely checked on us, never inquired about the special occasion. Disappointing overall.
