   How this place doesn't have a Michelin star yet i don't know. The food is outstanding, the cocktails are outstanding and the service is some of the best i have experienced anywhere. It felt extremely natural unlike some places where it is very traditional and scripted. Would really like to go back again when the seasonal menu changes

   Fantastic food in a fantastic setting. We decided to change our reservation from an early dinner to late lunch. The staff were incredibly accommodating. Lovely bar to enjoy a drink pre-lunch. It was a quiet day but that didn’t matter. Our table faced the amazing sea view. We are already big fans of Adam Handlings food and this didn’t disappoint. We didn’t even miss our favourite chicken skin butter because the crab butter was so good. I love that this is fine dining but the atmosphere is still so relaxed. This is special occasion dining and not cheap but you can appreciate why it costs what it does. The ingredients and skill are both amazing. A million miles from home cooking but always concentrating on taste not just looks. Don’t be afraid to try things you don’t normally like, it’s amazing what can be done with the right combinations and enough effort. I hate beetroot normally, loved it with duck here. Lunch was a real experience and a wonderful afternoon.

    My son and I visited the Ugly Butterfly as part of a stay at Cardis Bay. The meal was sublime. Service was attentive and informative, but not intrusive. We chose the 7 course menu and I opted for the wine pairing. I had cheese and a delicious port to finish - and without asking, a cheese to my son’s taste was served, as he’d mentioned he wasn’t keen on the cheese on the menu. Will definitely return when we’re next in the area.

    Valentines dinner. ❤️ Once we finally got seated and served after a 45 min wait we enjoyed returning to our favourite restaurant. Food is top quality and a special treat, staff are friendly and setting is outstanding.

    We went for Valentines and had one of the best meals of our life! Incredible service and every single course was perfect. It is expensive, however we did know this going in, so certainly One of the most expensive meals you could have.. but in this case worth every penny 👍

    Every mouthful was an adventure! I am a notoriously picky eater but I allowed myself to be challenged and had so many surprises that we incredible. Beef tartare, a superb egg dish, the lobster I could just go on. Lovely staff, well educated about the food and drinks and lots of fun. Now, it's expensive and they admit that, but I rated it good value because of the experience and the fact that this isn't an ordinary meal experience, there is no rush, they don't ask for the table back like a gastro pub might. The setting is incredible the food even more so and the staff a delight. I grew up a meat and two veg kind of chap but can definitely attest to being appreciative of exquisite dining!

    The food was exquisite - beautifully prepared and carefully balanced. Service was excellent as the constituents of each of the eight courses were carefully explained with some quite dramatically presented. Location was superb with expansive views over the beach. Ambiance was relaxing though perhaps the background music could have been more muted. This was a special Valentine's Day treat for my wife and I so the cost, which was on the high side, wasn't too difficult to justify. All in all, a breath taking, mouth watering, taste bud tingling experience. Highly recommended!

    The sweeping view over St Ives Bay is completely enchanting. The service is friendly yet completely on-point. The food oozes skill and flavour well above almost anything else in the South West. I took my mum for the seven-course degustation menu for her birthday. She was impressed by the view, the lovely staff and the "posh chefs".

    Amazing meal in great environment. Waiting staff attentive and knowledgeable. I keep replaying each course in my head trying to hold onto the exquisite flavours. Can’t wait to go again, but will have to be a very occasional treat as not cheap. If any jobs come up as food tasters for new dishes on the menu I’ll be first to apply.

    This is an exceptional establishment. The tasting menu and matching wine are well put together. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The dishes themselves are a masterpiece of creativity professional hard work and delivered with real pride. A memorable experience that is highly recommended.

    Had a very pleasant experience. They catered for lunch for 4, including two children. Would highly recommend this experience any and all. The Master Chef tasting lunch was excellent and a real variety from some very talented individuals. The drinks that were made for both the adults and the children were well thought out and enhanced our dining experience greatly. Well run and welcoming restaurant.

    I arranged lunch here to celebrate my engagement to my girlfriend. Although the food was delicious, we were disappointed by the overall experience. We opted for the wine pairing, however the sommelier forgot during three of seven courses which course we were having and was speaking about food we weren’t eating - we therefore got the impression he didn’t really care about pairing the wine to the food. My girlfriend was having the vegetarian menu without the mushroom course - the sommelier didn’t realise this until mid way through the sixth course and was speaking about the pescatarian menu throughout. This was unfortunately far from the experience we expected for the price of the meal and we felt very little care was taken to deliver value. Memorable for the wrong reason, sadly.

    We had a fabulous meal at Ugly Butterfly. The food was exceptional with sauces to die for. From the initial greeting to our goodbyes, the staff were also exceptional, friendly, welcoming and incredibly helpful. The whole experience was delightful and I loved the birthday 'candle' ...perfect and delicious. Thank you all again and hoping to come down and see you all again soon.

    We absolutely loved the whole experience. The food was incredibly good , delicious and wonderfully presented. The staff, especially Mark and Toby were fantastic. We sat at 7 and we were disappointed to leave at 11 it was a wonderful experience. We would most definitely return. We would have no hesitation recommending the ugly Butterfly. You won’t be disappointed 😊
