   First time at Uchiko at Legacy West in Plano. I've been to Uchi and Uchiko in Austin more times than I can count...so my bar was set very high. And...I have to say, Uchiko Plano delivered! We went with the omakase, because I love the adventure...and wow! What I love about omakase is I can just relax and enjoy things I would likely never order on my own. Stars of our meal included: the tako (it was divine) and we loved the suzuki yaki. And just when I thought I couldn't eat another bite, the magical cheesecake arrived. Lightest cheesecake I've ever put in my mouth, creating delightful fireworks of flavor with the mandarin yuzu, apricot, and calpico granita. So, we had a fabulous date night and the vibe was so friendly and caring. I can't wait to go back!

   Flawless - we loved the palate cleanser to start. The sushi was fresh, beautiful and creative. We had to order seconds of our favorites. We ended with the NY strip and raw scallops. It was a perfect meal. We will absolutely go back!

   The negative: the service was brutally slow and we were watching waitstaff meander around without much purpose. While our waiter seemed to have a grasp on the menu, I did not enjoy the faux snootiness of said waiter. The food was excellent and we loved the decor. Will we be back? We haven’t decided yet as my wife, whose birthday it was, did not seem enamored after waiting around for our food.

   Overall the experience was great, however the kitchen seemed to be off its game with things slow to get out. We had ~15 minutes between some courses. The staff was very apologetic and was clearly struggling with things being messed up.

   We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Uchiko- my husband and I have been before but it was a first for our children (ages 12 and 9). They had high expectations from hearing us rave about it and they were not disappointed! Service was impeccable and every dish was a surprise & delight. Our staples are the edamame, brussel sprouts, oysters, hirume cold tasting, and a5 rock but we always enjoy trying new things on the menu!

   Uchiko is a culinary experience. Menu options are unique and fun. Quality is on point. A bit pricey for the amount of food you get. Overall- recommend for a special date night.

    Sergio, our sushi chef, was excellent. Knowledgeable, funny and provided good service. Food was phenomenal. Really liked the tuna tartar, grilled oysters and the pork belly. Rest of staff attentive and pleasant.
