Uchi - Denver
The tasting menu never disappoints! The staff is always really friendly and helpful. Drinks here are also thee bomb!
5 people at the door and no one welcomed us or asked to check our coats. Have a drink in the lobby while we waited for the other couple?? Bathrooms were B- at best. Lots of empty plates left on the table as more arrived.
We did the Signature Tasting and it was wonderful. Each tasting had a journey and introduced us to a unique dish that I would not have known about otherwise. Would highly recommend to people who wind up ordering the same rolls each time they go out for sushi. Break out of that box.
We went for a birthday celebration and decided to splurge on the 10 course chefs tasting menu. Requested no sea urchin or unagi.
Started off great with fresh sashimi, nigiri but was extremely let down by the over salty risotto and goats cheese dish. We left it and mentioned it was super salty, the dish was replaced by a nabe bowl which had unagi as the main ingredient.
We ordered a bottle of wine and when completed it was removed from the table with no asking if we wanted another drink. So in that respect service could’ve been a lot better.
We will be back, but not for the tasting menu. We enjoyed the raw Japanese dishes but will bypass any hot items next time. Super loud even on a Tuesday night and very pricey. Drink service could’ve been better and slightly disappointed no candle in the dessert course.
Really fantastic meal - my new favorite
Great food and great service once again. They definitely keep me coming back!
Absurdly miniscule proportions. Had to laugh when sushi was presented and wonder why would people come back and not just go to Sushi Den or Tazu in Cherry Creek.
Was expecting the same menu and quality of food as the original Uchi in Austin, Texas, which I have visited many times and enjoy very much. Very disappointed to find the "Uchi-Lite" menu that the Denver location presented. The quality of the food and taste of certain items was vastly off when compared to Uchi Austin. For example, the Wagyu Beef on Hotrock, a popular item at Uchi Austin that was actually on the Uchi Denver menu, was tough and chewy. Wagyu beef should NEVER be tough and chewy, especially at a high-caliber restaurant like Uchi Denver touts itself to be.
Decor of space is pedestrian. Portions are SMALL. up front waiting area is poorly designed and inadequate. Staff is spectacular
Great new sushi place for Denver. The flavors they create is out of this world! You can not even compare to other Denver sushi restaurants cause it's not even the same sushi. They use fruit and other ingredients that seems to bring out flavors that I didn't even know existed. Ambiance is warm and welcoming! I will be back! Everyone should give this place a try! You will not be disappointed.
Was excited when Uchi announced opening in Denver, having missed out on the Austin location. It was great; one of the best sushi experiences I have had.
Amazing food! Definitely will return! Kevin was a great waiter!
I wish they would have put us in a booth knowing it was a big celebration for us. And everything was really tasty!
The staff are very friendly and have great knowledge of this restaurants creative menu. Micro greens served in their dishes are grown from their rooftop garden and they use only the freshest ingredients available. Two must try dishes are the Ham & Eggs roll and the Fried Milk for dessert!
Delicious food, kitchen was extremely slow. Took two hours to get all of our dishes. Staff did, however, send out a few comp dishes to cover delays.
We came here for our anniversary dinner and it was the perfect choice! Food was unique and interesting, all while being incredibly delicious, atmosphere was super cool, and service was top notch! Whether you're celebrating something special or just looking to treat yourself on a Tuesday, this place is bomb. We did the 10 piece Omakase and received an additional 2 pieces as gifts and I would do it all over again. So nice to just sit back and have the food come, one mouth watering plate after the next. Thanks Uchi for a night to remember!
It was great! Especially loved the Wagyu hot rock—so tasty.
This place has really great ambiance and it’s nice that they valet your car. Food wise it was just ok. Sushi bites so tiny, never have seen anything like that before (comparing to Japan where sushi size is decent). This place took it to the whole new level. Maybe half a bite? Got a few dishes from their non sushi menu. Meh. The best thing was fish and everything else was just ok, nothing memorable. For a dessert we got frozen peanut butter brownie bars which were actually pretty good. I guess we had really low hopes for the dessert after the main course so it was a pleasant surprise. Overall the place is ok but would not go back.
Delicious food, local ingredients, amazing service.
Always fantastic! Service is always incredible. Never tasted or drink anything I didn’t love at Uchi :)
One of the best dining-out experiences in Denver right now.
The food was delicious and beautifully prepared, the escolar was heavenly and the service was on pointe, however, I was really put off by how TINY the salmon was. It was nothing special, and at happy hour, was $6 for two pieces and those two pieces literally were smaller than the size of one piece anywhere else. As my five year old will only salmon when we go to sushi, I spent $66 on salmon...for a five year old, at happy hour. And like I said, I was not impressed by the quality or taste of the salmon, but I am not going to argue with a hungry five-year old demanding more salmon.
great bites and drinks! beauty design and ambiance!
Wonderful! Flavors on point. Delightful experience.
We had a great experience at Uchi. We had good value for our money, since we came in just in time for happy hour to taste various little starters. They also have a fun selection of Sake and cocktails. Clientele is hip and young. Music in the background was great too. Our waitress was very good.
Amazing night. From the cool wall where you wait for your table and drink (and people watch), to the well designed and thought out layout of the restaurant. Most importantly, the food...every bite was incredible. Sushi chef Richie crushed it with the daily specials, sashimi dishes and the kitchens hot food was superb. Get the karaage, all of the daily specials and leave room for the fried milk dessert. Already looking forward to returning.
Food was very slow to come out and too much time between each dish give the sizes were very small.
A fantastic fusion of creative flavors that dance on your pallet! Not your typical “sushi” or “Japanese” restaurant this is seriously well thought out food. Each dish is unique, bursting with flavor and they incorporate a lot of fresh citrus, fruits, traditional Japanese vegetables etc with fresh fish, meat and other proteins. There’s something for everyone. The menu is robust, we had the server help us choose what to order. There’s a selection of cold dishes, hot plates, rolls and more.
One of the best meals we have had in Denver. Very creative food, excellent service and timing of the food delivery. Menu is thick and daunting for first timer. Fortunately, the server was extremely creative in accommodating vegetarian restriction and budget, and served up a well-timed stream of amazing small plates. Good date place if you are sure your date is an adventurous eater. I’ll be bringing my out of town foodie guests here.
Amazing! Definitely surpasses the hype. I couldn't tell you all of the names of the dishes we ordered but everything left me wanting to order more. The Waygu Beef was phenomenal, so was the lamb, and every bite of fish was superb. The service was also outstanding!
This place is outstanding! Great food and awesome service and interior design.
As expected, its food was of a very high quality. With that though, comes with its also high price. This is restaurant is not something to get full over, but rather something to experience. So I would not get anything typical of a Japanese menu, and order beyond the comfort zone to make this restaurant worth it.
Hip new restaurant with tasty, modern take on Japanese food. Staff and service were excellent. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed talking with the staff and watching the food be prepared. The mushroom kinoko nabe was delicious. Other dishes played with a variety of flavors and textures, so that every bit was an experience. We will be back.
Favorite complete experience in Denver. Service and food was outstanding.
While it is very good there are better value for your money sushi places in Denver. Sushi Den comes to mind from the bigger sushi places. You definitely feel like you are paying for the ambiance as you order.
Went there for Happy Hour and ate everything on the entire menu. No disappointments. Was all incredible. Would, and have, recommended Uchi to all.
As usual, excellent service and food. The only item that we did not enjoy was the lamb. It was games and too salty.
The signature tasting menu was fantastic.
One of the best meals I have had in Denver. Highly recommend.
