It’s not your usual sushi restaurant. There’s not the monster roll or California rolls, it’s apparently more traditional. So buying by pieces of fish or whatever or rolls of that. At first glance you think you’re about to spend a lot of money on very little food, but after talking to the waitress about my wife being pregnant (can’t eat raw food) and my willingness to eat anything, we told her a couple of things that we liked from the menu and she made a custom dinner for us. We loved every bite. The only bad comment was that the outdoor dining is right next to a busy street and it’s kinda loud. Not so unbearable that you can’t talk but cars slam on brakes and it’s kinda distracting. Overall great though
We wanted to try a bit of everything and our waiter kept ordering her favorite dishes.. Did not disappoint! We tried so many things that we wouldn’t have otherwise ordered and left happy :)
We have never been disappointed when dining at Uchi. The waitstaff is so helpful from anticipating all our needs and to making incredible suggestions determined from our own selections. Always first choice and five star.
My wife and I have been eating at Uchi for the past 17 years and we can't recall ever hearing the music turned up this loud. Felt more like a club instead of a restaurant. It was difficult to have a conversation and very distracting/annoying. If that's the new vibe I'd say it's a very poor choice. Takes away from the overall experience in my opinion. Hopefully it was just a blip and they'll turn it way down going forward. The food was good as always, though. Just not good enough to endure that again.
Everything we had was excellent!
Great food - some of the pricing is way too high - particularly the wine.
It was our first time, and it was outstanding! Our waiter David was above and beyond with serving the best options to get familiar with the food at the restaurant. Both deserts were to die for! We will be back so many times!
Love Uchi. Every single time is amazing. Thanks for keeping the bar high!
Exceptional service. We had lots of questions and our server made everything fun and easy.
we did the Chef's table and it was incredible! This is the second time that we dined at Uchi doing the multi-course dinner and it was amazing!
Its expensive -- but worth every penny getting to try so many wonderful dishes and sushi
Great food and great service keep us coming back over and over again.
I did a lot of research on dining in Austin. Uchi was mentioned as one of best so we trusted the reviews. Don’t bother. Tap water to start was disgusting. The edemame was about the only thing to rave about. It’s great but then all down hill from there. Sushi isn’t the best by any means. Not even close.
Uchi is one of my three favorite restaurants in Austin.
David is an excellent server. Gave great recommendations on both food & sake. Our 3rd time there and food is incredible every time! Oishii!!
We had the best time at Uchi! They throughly sanitized the table and chairs, which we appreciated. We had the server tasting, where our server Sam brought out 12 dishes according to our preferences. She knocked it out os the park! Everything was delicious and our whole party was happy. Can’t wait to return.
Terrific service and food to match. We loved our omakase selections and would recommend this highly. Our server was very inquisitive of our taste and thus we had a very tailored experience. Lovely sake list as well.
Always a treat to dine at Uchi, great service by all, especially Mike, who kept the bites coming at a perfect pace throughout the evening. We never looked at the menu, went with Mike’s suggested Rosé, and we appreciated chef Tyson bringing his exquisite dishes to our table. Well done Uchi team!
We were celebrating an anniversary and this was our first time in at uchi. We got the 10 course tasting which was awesome to try new things — definitely lived up to the hype.
Easily the best dining experience I’ve ever had in Austin! Mike was our server and did an amazing job. My wife and I chose the Omakase chef’s tasting and it did not disappoint. By far some of the best food I’ve ever had.
Amazing birthday dinner. Uchi never disappoints
Daughters 18th Birthday
hands down one of the best meals ever. and i say that every time i go. our waiter( i think its Mike, or Matt) was exceptional. We are very open to suggestions and he picked most of our meal( we probably had 20 items) and every time he was spot on! I can not recommend more that you eat here. and do not forgo eating dessert, phenomenal. has to be the best restaurant in Austin TX
We celebrated our anniversary with Uchi and it as an amazing experience and we’re glad we visited. Our waiter Arvin was top notch and made us feel like family, he had amazing recommendations and checked on us throughout the meal without being disruptive to our meal. We found everything quite tasty as we ate our way through the menu. We will certainly be back to celebrate more! Thanks for making a special night w be more special!
Great birthday dinner celebration... epic happy hour!
Great! Felt safe
Nice restaurant, with good ambiance. Horribly over-priced. Selection is good, servings are SMALL and expensive. Each piece of nigiri is about half the size of a typical piece.
They put salt (too much) on EVERYTHING
Uchi never disappoints. Every bite is an experience and a delight.
Food was amazing! We ordered the Signature tasting menu plus a few a-la carte as well and enjoyed each & every course. But I definitely felt it was rushed through. We would have just started on one course and 2 more would arrive simultaneously!!
The experience would have been a lot better if they could have spread out the courses more evenly instead of rushing us through it. We ended up having 11 items from the menu (including the tasting menu) within approx 1 hour.
I know some people would appreciate the "super fast" service, but personally I would have liked a much relaxed dine in experience.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and friendly service. Wonderful evening!
great food, great service. top restaurant in austin
Best food, service, ambiance, and sushi in Austin hands down. Great for any occasion.
interesting collaborations, very fun and demands another return fest !
We recently dine outside at Uchi with family (including our 2 year old). Overall, the service was exceptional (they brought out kid chopsticks without us asking as well as rice and a fruit bowl) and the food was delicious. The patio was a little loud being that it was in the front of the restaurant right next to S. Lamar. Aside from the street noise, we had a lovely time!
Eating here is an experience. Our server, Mike, carefully curated a 10 course tasting for me and my boyfriend. He hit the ball out of the park with his choices for us after asking 4 simple questions about our preferences. So happy we went with a chefs tasting for our first time to get to know all that uchi has to offer.
Our favorites were the walu walu, Hama chili, and the three day smoked short rib nigiri.
This was the first time we went during happy hour. Because of the reduced price, we went ahead and tried several things on the happy hour menu that we'd never had before. It was a great experience! Our server was extremely helpful and I really like that the entire staff serves every table. Each time a dish was placed on our table, the server would describe the dish in detail. Such an enjoyable experience, as usual for this restaurant. Exceptional food paired with exceptional service.
I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Every single thing we had was perfect! Make sure you get the fois gras right before you have dessert.
Best in Austin. Incredible food and service. Go go
To dark for old folks. Waiter was great, he took control and handled what and how much of each item for the 4 of us. Food has always been good and it still continues to be worth the trip.
