   A really great place with live music. The quartet was top notch, and since Uccello is associated with the SF Conservatory of Music, I expect the quality of music will continue to be high. Food was great and prices are competitive with the neighborhood. Each person at our table of three ordered a different dinner--swordfish, chicken and duck. Each dish was terrific and beautifully prepared. The hazelnuts with the chicken were a terrific surprise. The dessert menu looked great, but we were full after our dinners so we will have to go back again to do some more sampling. Nice people and good presentation. They also have a killer martini.    Our meal was outstanding, every dish. The Swordfish entree was one of the best dishes I’ve had, ever! Service was also great — courteous, timely, friendly, just the right amount of attention — all good! Thank you!

   Wow. Incredible food with great beverage selection. I had the Flatbread to start. Very tasty. As a main I had the vegetarian dumplings that just melted in your mouth. I am not a big dessert fan but the coffee ice cream with chocolate sauce was perfect.

   Great experience for a pre-concert dinner. Excellent food and service and great location right across the street from symphony hall. They made sure to ask what time our show was and timed everything well to get us out on time without feeling at all rushed. Food was thoughtfully conceived and well executed. This will be our new go to pre-concert restaurant! The live music at the restaurant itself didn’t get started yet when we were there.

   We really enjoyed the food here. Everything was quite good, not a bad dish in our order. They also have live music which was really nice. I think they were students at the conservatory. Will definitely go back.

   We enjoyed our dinner very much prior to a program at City Arts & Lectures. Our cocktail, the Van Ness (I think it was called) - was a riff on a Boulevardier with a coffee infused vermouth and it was excellent. The flatbread was very thin and delicious. Our entrees were good (chicken & duck) but not so outstanding as to feel worth the $35+ cost of each. So, overall, a lovely dining experience in a relatively quiet, serene space, but we thought the mains were significantly over priced.

   The Uccello Cappucino---named for its frothy mushroom color---was a factory mushroom soup and it was superb. The lamp tongue was wonderfully prepared over a garlicky brocolli rab. The wine selection was excellent. Going back to try the cocktails!

    What a find! This restaurant combines a very innovative and fresh ingredient menu with really friendly and attentive staff and a great youthful energy as it's in the SFCM building. I will definitely return. On Friday and Saturday evenings they have a student jazz combo playing from 8 till 10:30pm. It was a real treat.

    The food at Uccello started out good and has been getting continually better. It is now at a very high-level and this is now the go to location for pre-symphony and pre-opera dinners, as well as after show drinks. Congratulations to the staff.

    Our appetizers were disappointing, but our entrees and dessert were good. I thought is was pretentious to not have a single glass of wine that was less than $15. Overpriced in general, but the location is so close to the Opera House.

    Uccello is now our before-theatre go-to-favorite. Simply park once and after dinner walk across Van Ness to Davies or the Opera House. Service was timely and excellent and the choices of small or large dish servings is perfect depending on your appetite. A diversified wine list offered a wide range of wines as well as prices. Food was interesting, flavorful and on cue.

    All the dishes we had were very good (flatbread, cappuccino soup, and Cannoli) to excellent (duck liver mouse, halibut, and flat iron steak). Special kudos to the traditional duck liver mouse which had a soft butter like consistency. This is a very old French recipe that few restaurants serve as it uses more ingredients as well as labor. I was tickled to see it at Uccello. The other great thing about Uccello is the live music (typically jazz) most nights starting about 8 PM. The particular student group the night we went was accomplished and added a fine musical counterpoint to the whole evening. The music is not amplified but conversation may be get difficult the closer you sit to the stage. The wine list tends to be pricey but there are good values to be had around $50. Service is very accommodating and quite friendly. All in all I'd say Uccello is definitely underappreciated as it's mostly used as a stopover before the Opera, ballet, or symphony. I'd recommend you visit it as a destination spot; it's quite worth it.

    We have been lucky to have eaten at Uccello many times and it's always delicious and super friendly! This night we took 2 friends and had such a good time while enjoying Oyster mushroom cappuccino - a yummy starter- then entrees all with amazing combo of flavors. The acoustics are perfectly designed for intimate conversations too.

    First time to visit. Excellent addition to the pre-theater choices (and I’m sure at other times,too). Selection of shareable, small, and entree size creative selections for any appetite and taste. Loved the flatbread -extra thin and crispy, and the Dungeness crab with caviar. Friendly staff, good selection of wine and cocktails. Right across from Davies and Opera House so good watching too. We will be back.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to Uccello. Once again the service was attentive and professional and the cocktails and food were excellent right through desert. We’ve really enjoyed our dinners here and are happy to have another fine restaurant near Civic Center.
