About TWO urban licks
TWO urban licks has been heating up the Atlanta restaurant scene with its “Fiery American Cooking” since opening in the fall of 2004, making it one of the city’s busiest restaurants on a nightly basis. The scene features “Fiery American Cooking” prepared in a magnificent nine-foot, wood pit rotisserie in the dining area and live blues nightly. TWO has garnered an abundance of local and national accolades including Conde Nast Traveler’s “Hot List”, Bon Appetit’s “Hot 50 Tables” and one of Rachael Ray’s “favorite restaurants” in the country as told to InStyle Magazine. Nominated year after year as Best Restaurant Scene and Best Place to Take an Out of Towner, it is no wonder that guests keep coming back for more.

TWO urban licks Ratings and Reviews
Stinky! I come to this restaurant often with friends, and we always LOVE the food and enjoy the variety in the menu, but we ALWAYS leave the restaurant reeking of food, and not in a good way! The smell of food really invades everything - our hair, clothes, accessories - and it's a strong smoky smell that lingers sometimes for days. Is there any consideration of changing the setup of the restaurant so that the food is not cooked in the open?
I was very excited to take my husband to this place for his birthday. Neither of us had been there before, but reviews and the menu suggested that it would be very nice. The place, well really parking was a bit hard to locate, but that's no biggie. It looked great on the inside, but noise level was quite high. We had a nice intimate table in the corner, so that was great.
When the server came he recommended the shaved calamari, which we ended up ordering due to his recommendation over the salmon chips. Despite it being packed, the calamari came out super fast; however, I couldn't find any "shaved" item in the bowl. They were regular (actually more on the larger side) calamari and were super bland and tasted like whatever else had been previously fried in the grease.
For our main course we opted for the scallops with grits and the flat iron steak, which was supposed to come with green beans and wild mushrooms. This is where the trouble started. The food came out before we had even finished the appetizers in record speed, literally 5-8 minutes after the appetizers arrived. The scallops entree was excellent; however, the flat iron steak along with the wild mushroom (I literally had one slice of mushroom, smaller than the size of a quarter), the potatoes and the beans were all cold. I let the server know when he came to check that the food was still cold. He apologized and said he would warm it up for us....which is literally what he did, probably in the microwave. The potatoes in some places and the meat were steaming and the beans were still cold. They had taken it off its original oval plate and beans and everything else were literally dumped on a new round plate... potatoes and everything stuck on them. Quite off-putting; especially considering the $29 price tag of the steak and the reputation of the restaurant. We let the server know that the beans were still cold, and he just said "oh, sorry about that." Needless to say we will not return.
Overall, I had a nice time at Two urban licks. We made a reservation for a Sunday at 7. Valet took a while to help us, it seemed to be 1-2 ppl working. We ordered an appetizer, salad, entrees, and dessert. My chicken was ok...somewhat dry though. My date ordered fish that was covered in is a soup....wayyy too much. I told him to send it back but he didn't want to bother. The rest of the food was delicious and the waiter was nice. I didn't like the close seating though. It made our special night seem less private. I wish we were asked for a preference in seating since we made a reservation.
I really enjoy eating here. The ambiance is always high energy , with contemporary decor and music playing. The food stays consistent with flavor and variety. I recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Atlanta. It has a wonderful view of the downtown skyline.
Excellent food and drinks with reasonable pricing. The Empanadas and Brisket was very tasty and the server was prompt and friendly.
However, be prepared for a lot of noise/traffic/crowds coming and going on a Saturday night (beyond normal dining expectations for this busy time, in my opinion). When we arrived around 7:45pm, the valet was backed up 10+ cars and it took 10 minutes to hand over the keys. Once inside it was crowded, loud (live music and tons of people) and there was no real waiting area where you don't feel like you're in the way. The bar was full, people were lined up by the walls near the bathrooms and servers were constantly trying to get through the people milling around. It was chaotic.
Food service was quick but our wines didn't arrive until the entrees because the bar was backed up. Upon leaving, the valet was backed up again and it took almost 10 minutes to get the car.
If you like action and crowds, this seems to be the place. It's obviously popular so the food/ambiance are perfect for many.
The goal at Two Urban Licks is to turn the tables so you are served nicely but quickly. Our Server had difficulty understanding a request for a vegan meal. He finally said he would check with the Chef and came back with 3 different plates of veg. It would have been nice for them to take the time and put them all on one plate. If you want a place to see and be seen, this is it, but don't go for a quiet, leisurely dinner out.
I had heard great things about his place so brought a friend. I really enjoyed the food here and the service was good; however when we arrived the entire place was filled with smoke which gave me a headache. It was also very loud to the point where I could barely hear the server or my friend talking. Not a great choice if you're trying to be quick.
Terrible. The food. The manager. The only saving grace this place has is the bartenders & the drinks they serve up....and the cool decor I guess but you find that anywhere. The Kale Salad was NOT a well-balanced salad...it IS possible (& easy) to make a delicious kale salad. I don’t know how that wooden board the salmon bites are served on is even to Code...ours had a piece of dried food on the end. When the bartender summoned the Manager, he didn’t apologize....just said he’d get with the Chef to make sure “they were on same page”...WTF does that mean?! He never came back. We paid. And we’ll never be back. $90 WASTED! Will not be back. Too bad. It’s within walking distance...we could’ve been regulars. Many other awesome places in area!
Although the food is creative and tasty, and the kale salad was outstanding, the fish was swimming in oil. The bigger issue was the noise level - excruciatingly loud. Holding a conversation felt like a battle and we hurried to leave. Our experience would have been very different if the noise level was lower. Not a relaxing date.
I would not recommend this restaurant to any friends or Family .The seating was bad ,The music was hard to hear I had to ask for utensils and napkins .And I Had Better food at other places .?It was my wife's 65th birthday and I was Very disappointed with the experience Of 2 urban licks
We came to celebrate our Anniversary. The atmosphere is festive. They had a band playing and the restaurant is busy and full of conversation. Food was good , calamari was excellent. We rated the ambiance low because they sat us upstairs away from the atmosphere and the music. There was a large party when we got there and another group that was separated and maintained quite a bit of traffic to communicate with each other. Would highly recommend it. We will definitely go back but will ask for downstairs seating.
Still one of my favorite atlanta restaurants but our service was somewhat subpar this trip as our waitress was a little too readybto leave the table and forgot to put in some orders. Also, they say us at a table where we basically sat on an ottoman. My back has been in excruciating pain since then. Cute but not comfortable at all as I was slouched over all night. The food was on point as always. Best appetizers anywhere.
