Twin Owls Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner with superior service from our server, Natalia. It was his birthday and we were treated to a free dessert. We were seated next to a large group, but the noise was minimal. The Spanish guitar player added the perfect music to the evening.
The parking for the restaurant is absolutely horrible!!! Unfortunately the parking puts you in a ‘mood’ before you even get inside the building. The entire parking lot seems as though it was designed for compact cars only. The spots are very small and very tight and layed out in weird angles. We ended up with a scratch on one side and a door dent on the other side of our car. Very upsetting. Employees are aware of the parking problem and can only laugh and joke about it because “ nothing will ever change it “ due to the fact that the owners “want to cram as many cars in the lot as possible “ Really ruins an otherwise great experience.
The first time I came to twin owls was in 2014. I remember it being impeccable. I have bragged about the food ever since. However this time, the food was not great. It had changed. The two de tour appetizer was very different and not very good. The main meal had an amazing steak but the lobster was under cooked and actually made both of us sick to our stomachs. The service was great and the atmosphere were great, but it was unfortunate that we paid $160 to feel sick to our stomachs with not a great meal.
My wife & I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and Twin Owls made it very special! The hostess sat us at a very private upstairs table overlooking everything. Val, our waiter was great in offering suggestions and making sure we had everything and all the other waitstaff were just fabulous! We have been here before and will definitely continue to dine here!
Overall this is a really nice restaurant. My husband and I felt it was a little overpriced and not a big selection of entrees, which was a little disappointing. The veggies that came with our meal were pretty bland, but the meat was tender and fill of flavor. I would defiantly recommend this restaurant for a nice date night or special occasion.
Our experience was great as far as the ambiance and the service. The only complaint I had was that our food wasn’t quite cooked the way we wanted. My pork chop was pink in the middle Andy husbands elk was more rare than we would have liked. Other than that, everything was great! We will give this place another chance if we come back that way.
We were disappointed. First of all, our waitperson never told us that there were specials. Second, I've never seen a rib-eye steak that was less than 1/2 inch in thickness. My filet (house special - McGregor) was cooked perfectly in the center but was well done around the periphery (dry). The toppings, although, sounded delicious, were so so. On the other hand, ceasar salad and desert were excellent. Overall, too expensive to be that mediocre.
The 2 and one half hour ordeal started at the front end when we had to wait for a reserved table(in a half empty resturant) for 10 minutes. 10 minutes for service, 15 minutes for drinks . Ok fine front end issue. The appetizers shows up later and were fine, more than fine they were excellent. The prime rib showed up and was chewy,(noticed some one else send it back.) OK steak as a substitute, that was ordered with NO blue cheese. Shows up with blue cheese you send that back comes out naked another 15 minute right cuts into the steak rare not medium we send that back. Meanwhile I get the trout I put a pat of butter on the rice and it didn't melt the entire dish is barely warm. Doesn't matter I send that back it comes out and the fish was fishy it was either off or freezer burned. No manager shows up no one tries to make it right. They do give me a discount on the bill and they're backed up out front because we've had the table for what would have been a one-hour meal for two and a half hours. They're only open 3 days a week, I would suggest they just don't open at all.
It was our 55th wedding anniversary which we celebrated with our daughter and son-in-law. It could not have been better. We each had something different: lamb chops for one, cowboy steak for another, steak and lobster for the third person, and for me, elk medallions. All were superb. Our server was excellent, and he suggested a wonderful wine which we all enjoyed.
There was even an excellent guitarist who played music that was perfect for the setting. We would all go back again.
We had a reservation and were promptly seated upstairs, which was a great location. We ordered our food and our appetizer (bacon wrapped scallops) arrived. They were delicious, but the serving was quite small: we each had 1.5 wrapped scallops. Dinner arrived. It started great -- I ordered the duck and my husband ordered the elk medallions. His meat was cooked perfectly. It was quite tender with very good flavor. I ordered the duck, which came as two legs. The first leg was tender, moist, and had good flavor. The second leg, however, was so dry that it was rendered inedible. After informing the server she let us know she would pass the word along to the chefs and gave us a $4 discount for the meat... or essentially 13% off the menu price because 50% of the main entree was inedible. That hardly made up for it and I left the Twin Owls very disappointed, after hearing many great things about the restaurant. However, the wine was a great complement to the meal! And it was a ambience for my husband and I to enjoy a date.
We had a reservation for 6:30 pm for which we were promptly on time. We were greeted by a semi- rude hostess. We were then led to our table and waited quite a while for the Server to come and greet us, take drink orders etc. The food was fine, the elk tips appetizer was excellent, but the steaks and prime rib were nothing special. We passed on dessert and the waiter brought 1 check. We were 2 couples and did not ask for the check to be split up front. Our Waiter was visibly angry that we asked him to split the check. Overall, we enjoyed our evening, the ambiance is nice and we enjoyed the guitar player. Probably wouldn’t go out of our way to return but would go back.
Many steakhouses in Estes Park, but this one has great ambiance, exceptional service, and interesting twists on classic steakhouse fare. For example, they have a Beef Oscar variation with smoked trout instead of crab meat, and was served with a chipotle hollandaise. We asked if we could have that preparation with elk instead of beef, and the kitchen happily accommodated us. Our server was exceptional, and there was live acoustic guitar music and a roaring fire throughout our dinner. We will certainly return!
