On our trip to Estes Park, we ate at this restaurant for a special occasion. The restaurant is a log cabin with a nice fireplace. The food and service were wonderful. My family tried the lamb, the filet, elk tips and steak. All of the food was great!
Food was fresh and delicious! Service was good. Kind of disappointed that they just brought us champagne instead of asking as we dislike the drink and had already had beer/wine. It went to waste . Other than that, a unique and awesome experience!
We had a wonderful time at Twin Owls. We will definitely return. The staff was as great as the food. That was the best steak I have ever had. Great job!
This was a perfect place to take my mom for her birthday. It had great mountain ambiance, with delicious food and wine. We really enjoyed everything about it.
Along with reservations for seating, there should be reservations for parking!! Very very limited parking available. Once inside, a wonderful experience!!
We eat at the Twin Owl Steakhouse for our anniversary almost every year starting about 10 to 12 years ago. The other night marked our 47th anniversary. Thank you for the fine dining experience.
Great atmosphere, food and service. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner.
This restaurant has beautiful scenery. Wild Elk roam the grounds as well as other woodland creatures. The inside has a comfortable atmosphere of a log cabin. The staff were well trained and had amazing customer service qualities. The menu offers different flavors to appeal to most pallets. It's not a party place by any means, but if professional, casual, romantic, or celebratory is what your looking for then Twin Owls Steakhouse is perfect for you.
Last December 2014 over the holidays was my first time to Twin Owls Steakhouse……it was fabulous--great food, great atmosphere, great time! October 9-11th, 2015 was our annual girls' weekend of shopping, elk viewing, dinners & drinks. I had bragged about Twin Owls to my friends so they were up for trying it. And it did not disappoint! We had appetizers, lots of drinks, and one of the best meals I've ever eaten (the Filet MacGregor)--too full for dessert, but I know they're awesome as well. With the beautiful, rustic setting, along with a friendly staff, and phenomenal food, we had a blast….we were having so much fun, we closed the place. Twin Owls Steakhouse is my favorite place in Estes Park and surrounding area! Thank you Twin Owls!
Only downside is the parking.
Although the food was very good it was not very warm and some of the potatos were very overcooked.
The food was amazing! The service was great. Loved the atmosphere! It is one of the best in Estes Park!
My husband and I discovered this wonderful restaurant while vacationing in Estes Park. We ate dinner there three nights in a row!! It's a must try when you are in the area.
Loved the atmosphere. Nice live acoustic guitar. Food was great and waitstaff very attentive. Special evening. We had the appetizer for two and it was delish.
My wife and I celebrated our 80th birthdays at Twin Owls. Great for a special occasion but also good for any time you are in Estes Park. We always make reservations and have dined there several times. Even great for kids but plan on going early. Best dining spot in Estes. Expensive but worth it. We'll be back often.
Everything was great and I will be dining again... The elk was the best I have had anywhere.
Twin Owls at the Black Canyon Inn is well worth a regular visit. The cuisine is first rate,
and the ambiance can't be beat. The service is exceptionally nice-- friendly and very attentive without being over-bearing. A great place to enjoy a leisurely dinner with good friends. The locals think this is the best in Estes Park this year.
Our server was excellent! Kitchen was again having problems getting hot food out and getting food out in order that the orders got to them. This was the second time this occurred in the last 3 months (REALLY)? Food was just okay but could have been just because we waited so long and saw others get their meals before us even though they placed their orders after we did. Had better meals in Estes Park. Will never go back!!!!
We ordered a beef ribeye that was very thin and fatty. It was heavily seasoned as was the roasted potatoes, so much that all I tasted was salt. The vegetables were not cooked enough and more raw than steamed . If I want to eat a raw carrot or brussel sprout i would but 3 to 5 minute's more they would have been steamed.
This was our first trip to Twin Owls Steakhouse. We've been to Estes a number of times, but somehow missed this gem until now. We celebrated my husband's birthday in style. The appetizer, steaks, wine, and free birthday dessert were all fabulous. This is a must visit spot for us from now on.
Go here! The food is fantastic for the regular steak eater, to the exotic game lover. The elk is always great.
The chicken dish was good but needed seasoning or a sauce. Buffalo steaks were delicious and tender. The steak kabob was also tender and very good. The grilled veggies were very tasty and the ambience was great. We had a very nice view of the canyon and the service was excellent. We didn't have any wine but they appeared to have a good selection. There were suggestions of wine pairing on the menu.
Located in one of the premier historic mountain lodges, the Twin Owls Steakhouse provides an ambiance unmatched in the Estes Park region. From its location among scenic rock outcroppings with stunning views of Twin Owls to the log and huge rock fireplace, cozy bar, and classic lodge ambiance, this is a true and enduring gem. The service is superb and very professional. The food is equally marvelous and elegantly presented. The one issue I personally have is that this self-declared "Steakhouse" really isn't so in the classic sense. It is missing a reasonable selection of high quality Western Prime grass-fed beef cuts unencumbered by unnecessary gourmet toppings and touches. Give me a good, minimally seasoned 1.5 inch thick prime grade steak if you declare yourself a steakhouse! If it's good, I'll pay the price.
The filets were great but the scallops (upcharge with steak) were way over cooked, tiny and over seasoned. By the time I got the servers attention I was finished. He did get me a reorder on them but the tiny little things were way over seasoned.
Appetizer for two was superb! Entrees were excellent as was the service. Loved the log building! Attention to detail was impressive.
I picked this venue based on several recommendations that this was the best restaurant in Estes Park. My husband and I celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary by dining here, and it was a great night! Great food, excellent service, beautiful guitar playing! The guitarist even played a song that was sung at our wedding, so that made it even more special as it was not a "planned" surprise. We will definitely put this on our list of restaurants to go to any time we are in Estes Park. Thank you!
We have visited the Twin Owls numerous times over the last 12 years and have always had fantastic meals with great service. We love the atmosphere; rustic, casual, romantic yet sophisticated. The elk appetizer and MacGregor filet are superb!
We sat for a good while before our server arrived, once she did, the service was very good. I had the Elk medallions and my wife had the lamb. Both dishes were outstanding. I paired the dish with the recommended wine, which was also very good. The ambiance is rustically elegant in a beautiful setting. This is a must stop for anyone in Estes Park.
We love the cabin feeling. The food was wonderful. One of us had prime rib and the other the rib eye and they were both very tender and delicious. The green chili cheddar mashed potatoes were to die for. We don't usually have dessert, but since it was our anniversary, we splurged and the crème brule was amazing. We also got the private table in the loft area which was very special. We have already recommended to friends and family.
We enjoyed the excellent food and soft background music.
Twin Owls never ceases to amaze me with the great food, friendly service and a great view. Highly recommended it as one of THE places to eat in Estes Park, CO.
We had dinner at Twin Owls 9 years ago and loved this restaurant. After 9 years, we returned to Estes Park, and again had dinner at The Twin Owls. It was everything we had remembered and loved about the restaurant. Great food, stunning setting, and what we like the most is the beautiful rustic log cabin. Our only complaint was our waitress never smiled, and gave us both the impression she hated her job. She was polite, but felt forced. Hopefully she was just having a bad day.
We went for a special evening with another couple and were very happy with our choice. The food was great and the atmosphere is wonderful with the log building and nice views. Service was pleasant. It was very busy, but the staff took good care of us.
We had the 4x4 filet mignon and lobster. They were done to perfection. The appetizer with the elk bites was great. My husbands ribeye was thinner than the last time we were there and a little more medium than medium rare. Overall still a great dining experience.
Hands down best service and food in Estes! I usually hate eating in the area and was shockingly surprised! We will go again for sure. A bit pricey but for a special dinner for two.... Outstanding.
Web reviews are why we went here and we were ultimately disappointed. The facility is beautiful and a great setting but the food was average to below average in taste. Service was just okay. Nothing horrible here, just lower your expectation and prepare to overpay a little.
Wanted to go somewhere nice for my birthday, which we were celebrating while in Estes Park. They seated us in a very romantic location which was perfect. The food and ambiance was wonderful! Would definitely recommend.
In an area saturated with restaurant mediocrity, The Twin Owls Steakhouse is a rare example of well conceived and well executed cuisine that is reflective of it's region. Housed in a vintage lodge-style log cabin structure on the campus of an upscale mountain resort, the setting is beautiful. The menu highlights western-themed items (such as elk, lamb and trout). Prices are a bit higher than usual for the area but reflect the quality of the preparation and presentation. The wine list is concise but well chosen and markups are lower than average (for example, our 2013 La Crema Willamette Valley Pinot Noir was $42 at the restaurant compared to $30 retail price at the winery).
Our server, Heather, was very pleasant, very efficient. Could not have had a better server!!!
My husband and I had our wedding anniversary dinner at Twin Owls during a recent trip to Estes Park. This was our second time to dine at the restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The food is superb. We rank our dining experience at the top of our list. We will look forward to our next visit to Estes Park and Twin Owls will certainly be on our list of must do's.
My prime rib was not the greatest, I have had better. The appetizers were fantastic. My husband's elk medallions were very good. It was our anniversary and it was okay
