Relaxing dining experience with a quiet atmosphere and great service.
It’s a regular place for me to go and have afternoon tea with my friends. I love this place.
Food is fine, but personal not super friendly.
The servers were mostly chatting amongst themselves majority of the time, not doing their job. Food wasn’t bad. We have gotten the bill from a different server since ours was busy conversing with her friend so once payed and we’re up and leaving, she had the audacity to ask us if we were going to pay our bill?
We have a feeling that we were being asked to leave after one hour and 45 mins of dining. Server came a few times trying to take away our plates when food were still there. We were not advised in advance that there’s a time limit of the seating.
When we asked to refill our teapot. We were being refused in a way that’s not so appropriate. Factor in the price of the tea sets. We expected a much re professional service.
Comparing to urban tea merchant in the past. Food quality is simply not as good. Hope to see improvements as urban tea merchant gave me lots of good memories.
Our server, Conrad, was fantastic. We had many questions about specific teas and he was exceptionally knowledgeable and gracious. The scones were the best I’ve tasted, comparable to the top tier high tea venues in the U.K. and Europe.
Been to urban tea merchant before and was a big fan. After changed name to twg this is the first time here and will never return. Great service and atmosphere however food quality is low and over price.
The non-sweets part of the High Tea were good and it would have been wonderful to have a bit more. There was too many sweets (sugar) that I did not feel well afterwards. (I'm not diabetic.) The prices were high, although standard as far as most tea salons would charge.
One of the server, Angie, is very impolite.
Other servers just meet a regular standard.
Food portion is too small. Not worth for the value.
LOVE the Tea Products itself, don't get me wrong BUT NOT IMPRESSED about the Tea Salon part!
First, wasn't aware of the way they brew their tea...they don't put tealeaves or teabags into the teapot of hot water! NOT the Chinese or French way, according to the waitress, when we asked for more HOT water for the tea after we finished the first pot, what we got back was just a pot of water, not even HOT, no tea! However, not sure about the purpose of the metal thing that covered the teapot (see photo)...certainly NOT to keep the tea pot warm?
All in all, much rather enjoy the tea at home instead of spending $$ at the Salon...SAD!
Portion is so tiny. Service is disappointing too. What my come back again.
Awesome as usual.
It’s delicious about food, and the place is enjoyable.
Disappointing afternoon tea, I expected more from TWG. I preferred when it was the Urban Tea Merchant. Price is high for what you get, no scones for afternoon tea with Devonshire cream. Service was sporadic, tea was tepid, and they didn't ask if we wanted milk with our tea. Sugar needs to be more refined for dainty tea cups as it will take longer to dissolve, especially when our tea was lukewarm. We both had the west coast afternoon tea and all the savoury items were good, and the only sweet that was decent was the lemon tart. We were not a fan of the 'Turkish delight', nor the Nanaimo bar. We should be able to choose what flavour macaron we want. We left unfulfilled.
We went for Mother's Day and had the Mother's Day tea set. The portion seems small to be honest. The entire table wanted to order more food but was told the Mother's Day tea set was the only food being offered on Mother's Day. Having discussed with the server on the fact that we were all still hungry, we were offered some freshly baked scones (which was not part of the tea set) for $9.00 per piece.
Went in for Mother’s Day, asked if we could sit at a different table that was also set for two but said it wasn’t available even though another party of two sat there ten minutes after. The switch could have been easily been done. However they gave us a complimentary desert to make up for it which was really sweet of our server. The regular menu wasn’t being served it was a Mother’s Day special instead for high tea. I wouldn’t get the high tea again it wasn’t worth the price in my opinion and some of the things that came with it weren’t that good. I would go again cause I liked to atmosphere to try their breakfast menu.
We were very well served by Suzanne. Her tea recommendations were intriguing and well matched with the tea sets we ordered. We went on the busy Mother's Day but felt well taken care of. Every item in the tea set was well infused with different teas and it was distinguishable. Our four tea sets came to almost $225 with tax and tips. We parked at the Shangri-la Hotel for two hours for $8. A memorable experience in an expensive city.
Came here for Mother's Day for the third time, about a 20 min wait for our order to be taken, likely because of it being Mother's Day and busy. Beautiful teas, got an awesome recommendation from the waitress. Delicious lunch and dessert (umm eggs Benedict? Hell yes), the whipped cream and jam were to die for, of course amazing macarons, my favourite, and a happy momma, so who can complain?!?
The staff was friendly and accommodating for dietary restrictions. Good food and environment.
Once you have experienced going, you won't be able to stop yourself from returning again, and again.
It was a lovely experience, haven't been here in years and was attracted back by the sakura tea menu. Very kind of the chef to accommodate us and serve us the menu earlier. Food was dainty and prepared very well, the tea was exquisite.
Enjoyed a birthday lunch there. Service was friendly and attentive.
Love their food the atmosphere and service were great
Went for Easter brunch. Got seated in a dark back room with nobody else around, while the front of house was light and airy and halfway empty. Unclear why we had to be in the dingy back space. The tea selection is amazing; all the teas we tried in our party of 3 were wonderful and tasty. The Easter tea set menu sounded delightful but was barely serviceable -- the savory part was OK though very small; the sweet part was non-existent: one macaron and 5 stale pathetic pieces of fruit. My husband ordered off the regular breakfast menu and his Eggs Benedict were fine. Overall, disappointed in the food.
Food was very good. Service was exceptional. Servers were very attentive and patient with our lovely 3 year old companions who left quite a mess on our table. :)
Wonderful as always. The waitress was very accommodating and friendly! My favourite spot for afternoon tea.
The tea sets are beautiful and their scones are simply out of this world! The server we had (didn’t get her name but she’s Asian and super information) was super helpful and very friendly and pleasant, one of the better services I’ve had recently, will definitely be back to try their breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Went for afternoon tea and overall, the experience was good. The food was better than expected. The tea was good however you only get one pot as the tea leaves are removed prior to being served.
Went for afternoon tea, good food, excellent tea but very slow service. Took almost 20 minutes to get and pay for the bill. Once I received the bill and gave my credit card, I had to wait approximately 10 more minutes for the server to bring the machine. I do love TWG tea but the food service didn't amaze me.
Recommended to me by a friend. It was a great experience. Our server was a young man who was very polite, knowledgeable, welcoming and just a delight. My daughter and I enjoyed the Sakura Set. Face it, it’s pricey yet I’ll definitely go back for a special occasion. I loved the sablefish and other savory bits.
Afterwards we shopped in the tea shop. That experience was not as nice. We should have stopped with the wonderful dining experience.
You don't ask if a customer wants bread for a Foie gras (which is part of the overpriced salad), - you bring the bread even if nobody is going to eat it. You don't say that you have to order 2 pots of tea (one per person) if your customers are ordering lunch (not only a tea). You don't take an order for macaroons and then bring different kind saying that you don't have the ones that were ordered . You have to know what is available at the time of the order, and if it is so happened that the macaroons were suddenly unavailable , you apologize and bring the other one for free or at least ask wich one your customer wants as opposed to bringing your own choice and charging for it.
I love foie gras, but I would not order it again at TWG. Very soapy tast....
So much fun having an afternoon tea lunch with my friend. The tea menu is incredibly large and a little daunting but the staff are extremely knowledgeable in guiding towards something you would like. I enjoyed a nice fruity rooibos with the Sakura tasting canapé menu, I really enjoyed the tasting menu that came on a tiered tray tower with both sweet and savoury and by the end everything was the perfect filling size.
My husband loved the Lunar New Year tea set but I liked the sweets part of the tea set. Will definitely go back and try just the traditional and everyday tea set.
Served well, never disappointed. Great staff, wanting to make it a positive memorable occasion.
Our server, Lucas, was very knowledgeable about the different teas and also provided us with great customer service. Please pass my thanks to him.
I can’t begin to explain how disappointing our experience was today at TWG. There were 4 of us there to celebrate two birthdays. The restaurant itself was not crowded. It took an hour to get our food. We all ordered the same high tea which included ONE cooked item. The rest were dessert items that would have been already prepared! Every time we attempted to make eye contact with a server it was next to impossible. Our tea pots were NEVER
I cannot praise this lovely Tea Salon enough. We arrived at 3:30 in the afternoon and were glad we had reservations . The salon is beautiful with beautiful dishes and food. The food and tea were certainly delicious. However, the staff are the real standouts at this establishment. They are all obviously passionate about tea and hoping to inspire that same passion in their diners. We’re curious people, so we asked many questions. They seemed thrilled to answer our questions and give us as much information as we wanted. I can only imagine how many questions they receive every day; however, they treated us like the very first customers who ever needed to be “schooled” in tea. I highly recommend TWG Tea Salon if you are looking for a casual but lovely tea experience.
Loved this place and their service !
Server was rude and got our orders wrong a few times. Tried to clear our plates before we were done; and did not provide us with the right cutlery.
She rushed us for the Payment as well and interrupted our meal multiple times.
Will not recommend.
