Twenty Manning Grill Ratings and Reviews
While we liked the ambiance and had a delicious beet salad, our main courses were not up to our expectations. If we went back, we'd try other options. The tuna with rice and bok choy was not very inventive, and the pumpkin ravioli needed some kind of sauce. The waitress did explain its preparation to us, so it was not her fault. Just didn't make the grade as a dish.
Party of 7 last Saturday and we had a great time. The restaurant wasn’t full, but the bar was hopping which made for a lively, hip atmosphere.
Our waiter was good and made helpful suggestions. The pork chop and duck dinners were outstanding and the vegetarians enjoyed the stir fry. We started with several apps to share - pizza, calamari and shrimp - all good.
Would definitely come back and recommend to others.
New favorite spot in the Rittenhouse area. The inside is elegant but not stuffy. We weren't dressed up but I didn't feel out of place. Menu has good variety in types of food and price range as well. I had a delicious burger and my son had a steak. Great service. Fun cocktails. We'll be back for sure!
Was curious about the restaurant which is rather local being a twenty minute walk. The restaurant definitely has a very nice ambiance, with a cozy waiting area of couches upfront, and vibrant yellow cushioned seating. However, the cushioned seating is only about 50% of the available seating. The other half are hard wrought iron? chairs which are rather uncomfortable, speaking from personal experience. Waiter was friendly and nice. The occasion of my dining was getting together with a few friends. Since the noise level of the crowded restaurant was high, it was not conducive to conversation. Focusing on the food: one of my friends and myself had ordered the mushroom ravioli. Although, the presentation was very nice, the portion size, especially for $17, was very disappointing. We both felt, at 3 medium ravioli (overall pasta size) and small amount of filling, the meal should of been categorized as an appetizer. We left very hungry, anxiously waiting to eat food once we returned to our homes. The other friend had a burger. Again the presentation was nice, however, she had to send the burger back to reheat, since it was very raw inside. The waiter gave this explanation that the lighting in the restaurant makes it looks worse. And speaking of lighting --- not the easiest to read your menu, which is rather limited.
I love this restaurant and have dined many times and enjoyed my experience. Tonight however was not my best experience. It was later in the evening (8:30) and dinner was brutal due to the noise level. Energetic doesn't fit the description. It was horrible. I couldn't hear myself talk nor hear my dinner companion without screaming. Also, we waited 45 minutes for our meal. The bottle of wine had an intense aroma of cork. One of two restrooms was out of order. Although the food was good, sadly, I am disappointed with my dining experience tonight.
The restaurant opened promptly at 5pm. The hostess offered us a table in the front corner. It was a prime spot with floor to ceiling windows offering wonderful street views. That made the people watching a lot of fun. The food was not as exciting. Service was very good, attentive, and kept the water glasses full. I had a rare tuna steak with a nice sauce. My son had a burger and my wife had a filet. All standard fare. All OK. But nothing to wow me or call me back. The price was just above that line and the view was not enough to overcome it.
We had a great meal - the gazpacho was a highlight. Creative and delicious cocktails. Friendly service. It's just so noisy due to all the hard surfaces you have to shout to be heard. So you have a room filled with good looking, shouting diners. My husband left with an earache.
Their by the glass wine list needs enhancement and their chopped salad could have been from a pre-made bag from the market. But their chicken breast with mashed potatoes and peas served in a skillet was truly yummy and the portion generous. Nice environment with quiet service.
Great service all around. We met at the bar, the bartender was able to give us excellent service and conversation, we had an extra guest and they were able to accommodate us without hesitation, even after offering to make our guest sit in time out elsewhere. Our server was pleasant, and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was great as well.
This was our second trip to Twenty Manning during restaurant week. It was just as good as the first time. The food is a great value during restaurant week, although the portion of my girlfriends mushroom ravioli was less than to be desired, however my grilled pork chop was so good served over brussell sprouts in a cheese sauce that was excellent. Our appetizers were really good too, she had philough dough fried shrimp in a sweet chile sauce and I had pot stickers that were very flavorful. For dessert they gave you a mini sampling of little cakes that were a perfect compliment to the meal. Our server was very attentive but not overbearing. We really enjoyed our evening. If you're in that part of town, stop into Twenty Manning, you won't regret it.
Went to twenty manning grill during restaurant week. Had been there before and food was memorable enough to return however this experience was not the same. Phyllo shrimp was excellent and calamari salad was decent albeit salty. Mushroom ravioli was tasteless. 3 lifeless completely flat soggy ravioli with no sauce and no flavor. Took 2 bites and left remaining. Burger was pretty good. Dessert sampler was decent but in definite need of a scoop of ice cream. All in all not worth $35 per person. Doubt we will return.
Went during restaurant week, awesome food selection however the lil dessert selection is lackluster. Just keep it or offer a scoop of ice cream or sorbet. The sorbet is great! My waiter was late getting to the table and not concerned...reservation was at 9:30pm, so maybe don't go late, cuz the staff is ready to go home.
Not from Philly, daughter just started there for college. Found 20 Manning atop the list for Restaurant Week and gave it a shot. Food was incredibly flavorful, beautifully presented, and reasonable (at least with the restaurant week menu it was). Best aspect was the service. Our other daughter is special needs and a very picky eater. Our waiter helped us out to get her food she enjoyed, and was all too happy to do so. No attitude or grief whatsoever, which we have definitely found in other restaurants.
Would highly recommend, and will definitely be back!
Wanted to kickoff the holiday weekend by going somewhere nice and Twenty Manning fit the bill. We had delicious Parisian daiquiris which the restaurant was offering to support the hurricane Harvey recovery. To accompany our drinks we ordered a wonderful cheese plate. For my main course I ordered the brined pork chop with fig and Gorgonzola served over roasted Brussels sprouts. Everything was so good. Our servers were attentive but not intrusive. I can't wait to go back.
