Twenty/20 Grill & Wine Bar - Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely inexcusable service. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, the waiter paid very little attention to us. The drinks we ordered took far too long. The wine came after my lunch was finished. Even our bill took too long. Too bad, because the food was actually quite good. Perhaps this was just a bad waiter but there are plenty of other local choices where this isn't a problem. Disappointing.
Dined here on Christmas Day under the expectations they had posted on their website as well as through open table. Was forced to sit outside even though the restaurant was empty. They also had a fixed menu that was disappointing and extremely overpriced. Service was good. However the entire experience was below average
I know it sounds silly but I wanted steak and eggs. Found this restaurant and looked at the menu picking because of steak and eggs. The menu had changed and they didn't have it. The egg breakfast I ordered was good, but wish had been updated. They were also out of a few things. Server was nice.
Enjoyed dinner her while staying at the resort. Salmon was cooked well and delicious. Good wine list and excellent service. The only down side was that I was seated acroees from the bar which was very noisy, especially one loud-mouthed man who obsiously had too much to drink. Fortunately he staggered away about half way through the meal. My want to consider closing off the bar from the restaurant tables more so than it is.
The good was very good. The service was good. We waited an excessively long time for our food (over 50 minutes after ordering). The only NOT bright spot was the noise level with children running around unattended. It made difficult to hear one another across the table. We sat on the patio. The venue is beautiful.
Celebrated my birthday with lunch on a Saturday. There was no wait at 1pm and the restaurant was almost empty. We sat outside under the covered deck and enjoyed the warm temperatures and cool ocean breeze. The patio is a great location for all, including young children. Food very reasonably priced and very well prepared. Lunch menu is limited but good variety of salads, sandwiches, fish tacos etc.
Dinner for 6 ladies celebrating a birthday. Hoping for happy hour and we missed it by 30 min. Ordered short ribs but it tasted old. They replaced it w a mushroom flat bread - that's was hot, fresh, and crisp, very good.
Waitress was not professional. She couldn't look any of us in they eye. We all felt like we were more of a hassle than guests.
The manager was excellent and made up for her lack of ...training?
We asked if they could sing happy bday and she said they don't do that there - yet we just watched them do it for someone else. We ate on the patio and it wouldn't have disturbed anyone. She just wasn't attentive to our needs such as extra silverware, refills on drinks, extra napkins for drinks that were sweating and dripping.
The patio at sunset is a great spot. Sometimes they do tapas or music and it can be a fun place.
We stayed at the Sheraton two nights to escort a 5 year old and parents to Legoland, to which the hotel has a private northern (though a half hour delayed from park opening) entrance. Included in the two rooms were coupons for full hot breakfasts, which could be credited against the extensive buffet or menu items if you didn't want the standard eggs, apple sausage or bacon, toast/ muffin , fruit or hashbrowns and coffee or OJ. Waiters were friendly and didn't seem to be angling for a tip (which we left in cash, as we stuck with the coupon and menu items and received no bill). We also had dinner twice at sunset on the patio portion of the restaurant, which is fronted with a sunset view over a 20 foot long one foot wide waterfall feature which at night sports an added wall of flickering up to 1 foot high gas flames out of a gravel top in the middle of the water feature. Spectacular sunset and later romantic setting! And all of the food was excellent! About 4 miles south of and inland a bit from Carlsbad Village. Saturday night featured a live combo. Reserve early a table at the edge of the water feature for the full effect.
My wife and I went here for our 1 year anniversary dinner, and had a great time. They had live music going which was great and at the perfect volume. Food was awesome, drinks were great, and the service was very professional and quick. Everything was great during our meal, the only thing that I didn't like is there wasn't the biggest selection for meals, but the ones they had tasted great!
We have been to Twenty/20 multiple times but this was our first visit on the 4th of July. The food is always fantastic but combined with the fireworks , it made our date spectacular. I highly recommend dinning here and now I highly recommend coming here on the 4th of July.
We eat here fairly regularly off their happy hour menu or regular menu. the food is generally quite good. We made the mistake in eating their 4th of July buffet which was way overpriced at $50. Everything served was mediocre at best and some quite bad. the only item of value served was the Salmon which was way overcooked. We wanted to eat outdoors to see the fireworks and outside had to get the buffet. indoors we could have ordered a much better meal for less.
We celebrated our anniversary with great food, a beautiful view, and exceptional service.
The hummus starter comes with warm pita and a small salad. By itself this would be a delightful light meal. We also shared the spicey shrimp which is seved with a tasty Asian slaw.
The burger with an onion jam and blue cheese is served with crispy fries.
Small desserts are a perfect final taste!!
We also enjoyed the tarragon infused gin and tonic.
Our server, Faye, was friendly, helpful, and efficient.
We will be back!!
We went for the father's day brunch, and although the menu was promising the food was cold. Could not enjoy the flavors of the items as the temperature ruin the taste. Also, we were sat outside and the sun melted our cold beers. The ambiance was nice, not too loud and the nice musician was a pleasant sound. Our server kind of forgot about us after a while, we took it as a sing it was time to go. Overall, pleasant afternoon.
I have had my ups and downs eating here. It can be lovely, it can be unacceptable. If this last visit was an example of the improved 20/20 it is working. Starting with the hostess, Linda, who is personable, friendly, and efficient to our waiter, Ross who was attentive and friendly as well - it made the visit the most pleasant. Salads were okay, not great, but the breads, the drinks, and the atmosphere were excellent. Very pleased this visit.
Went to Twenty/20 for a business dinner. Everyone enjoyed the food and had good things to say about it. The location is easy to get to and has a nice view of the ocean from the hilltop.
The only problem was our server, he was not as attentive as he should have been for a nice restaurant like this. He visited other tables 2-3 times as often as ours and asked if we wanted more drinks after our glasses had been empty for 10 minutes.
We have been frequenting Twenty/20 for just over four years and it never disappoints. The food is amazing, the staff attentive and the atmosphere always just right. Whether it is brunch for a special occasion or tapas in the summer we always know it's going to be a fabulous time.
We have been coming to this restaurant for several years. We had previously enjoyed happy hour where we ordered from both the happy hour and normal menus. There were far fewer tapa-like items this time, and they weren't as well done. We ordered potato salad that wasn't anything like a salad and beet salad with only a few beets under a mountain of very lightly dressed greens. The crispy shrimp was good but it wasn't crispy, the calamari was similarly cooked.
Pro's: great patio with awesome sunset view, very accommodating to families, attentive service staff.
Con's: live music on weekends- a good concept but needs to be not so amplified so you can still enjoy conversations & not have to scream over it to hear one another. Food was the biggest disappointment: charcuterie board- just plain salami you could buy at the local grocery store, expected higher quality dried salami. Entrées were all way over salted & buttered. And the selection leaves little to be desired, it was hard to make a choice. Server was pleasant & not too intrusive, but could benefit from some more training on wine & cocktail knowledge.
Our server stated she would bring bread and never did. We had to ask for it after about ten mins. She didn't refill drinks in a timely manor. The food was good but portions carried depending on the dish. The gnocchi pasta was smaller than the kids pasta dish. For the price, it wasn't worth it. The outdoor seating was great but don't go during sunset unless you want to wear sunglasses while eating.
Went on a Thursday night when they have a band outside that blasts throughout the restaurant and patio. Don't expect to hear your table-mates - you can't visit here. And they're going to be adding the band on Saturday nights too!
There were 2 of us. We were ushered to a table and given only 1 menu. Service was sporadic - sometimes there, sometimes not. Had to pick up needed spoons on forks at adjoining tables. Food was pretty good. Desserts at the bottom of the menu are so small they're about 2 Tablespoons. They have a dessert "tree" that is also small but varied and very good.
This is a beautiful venue but they have completely negated it with the noise. We won't go back until they can offer a serene space for visiting (who DOESN'T want to visit with friends?) and train their wait staff in the basics.
