I always love going to 20/Twenty for any occasion. The food is always very good and the views for sunset are fantastic. Just wish they would bring the chicken dish that they have served for years back. It was very good and it was a meal that I would always recommend for our guests
They did a great job of taking care of us. It was a special occasion that they knew about ahead of time and they made sure we were completely taken care of and went above and beyond to make sure it was a special night. Awesome place!
We came here because we were staying at the Marbrisa. I was looking for a sunset view and this didn’t disappoint. It is definitely inland, but you could see the sunset well with the trees framing it. The food was amazingly good. We had the Brussels sprouts and shishito peppers for appetizers. They were both very flavorful. We split the burger and it was really good too! I absolutely recommend this place!
Twenty/20 offers a unique and inspiring and brief menu of wonderful items. We enjoyed the delicious cartelized cauliflower florets and the every-so-often-one-in-ten spicy shasito peppers for starters. I had the, wait-person-recommended, pork chop which had been brined and cooked to perfection. My wife had a salad with the only disappointing item which was overcooked chicken breast. The cocktail menu is extensive, creative (charred cherry-rosemary sprigs!) and ample. Our server, Mariah, was cheerful, attentive, and made our evening special.
Very disappointed in the restaurant. Was not what it was advertised to be. It really was a "glorified" hotel restaurant. While the food was good, it was loud, bright and not at all what it was advertised. Service was just okay. The price did not match the ambiance, service or the food. We were extremely disappointed.
Sunday Brunch was, at first glance, very typical, with a modest buffet and a couple of dishes that would pass muster. The Corned Beef Hash was not professionally crafted. It was compiled mostly soggy reconstituted hash browns and, believe it or not, a few cubes of processed reformed "corned beef". With that came two anemic poached eggs. Service staff was earnest, but less than proud of what the kitchen sent out. I'm sorry, but I cannot recommend you spend resort prices for truck stop fare.
We ordered a few dishes, none of which were restaurant quality. The service staff tried very hard to create a nice dining experience, but had to backpeddle every time something came from the kitchen. The delivered an undercooked hamburger, overcooked calamari, an anemic crab cake (which were billed as 2 crab cakeS) that was piled high with some soggy "salad". The kitchen needs more attentive leadership and professional guidance. It has been a long time since I have been so compelled to be as critical as I am here, but I owe it to you, and to them, to suggest you find someplace more satisfying for the time being.
Salmon was almost raw. Portions were small and unsatisfying. On a quiet night, service was quite slow. Two entrees with no drinks, desserts or extras still came to $75. We had to ask for bread, that is, it was not offered for service or by assistant. We would not go back.
Eaten here several times; food is always good. However this time the service was very slow, throughout the meal. The restaurant was not that busy, lots of empty tables so it didn't seem like the service should be that slow. We waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us after we were seated. And that pace continued the whole meal.
This was the worst experience ever. The restaurant call me to confirm reservation, they were also informed this was a honeymoon experience. Upon arrival we were seated but waited over 10 mins to be seen by anyone. Three or so servers all past our tables, so we decided to leave. The valet went to get the manager but already not in the mood to stay any longer we just left. Very disappointed especially when I was contacted to confirm... Unacceptable.
Unfortunately, I can not recommend this restaurant for much. We were staying at MarBrisa and made an reservation for a birthday dinner for five people. Some of the food was good - the chicken was excellent - BUT the risotto was unacceptable. Two of us ordered the risotto and as soon as we saw it you could tell it was not fully cooked. We tried it and it was almost crunchy. We sent it back and within five minutes it was back. You could tell they had thrown the dishes in the microwave and add some cheese on top. So it was hot but not done. We couldn't eat really eat and it was too late to order a new dish - we were with a seven-year old. Also, I asked if we could put our decorated birthday cake in their kitchen and they said no! That has NEVER happened to me before. so we kept it by our table and asked for some extra plates and served it ourselves - We spent about $250 and sure didn't feel like the place made this birthday celebration special - no special birthday congratulations to the birthday girl - just didn't make it a special event!
Twenty/20 is one of our go-to restaurants for special occasions and for upscale dining. Our recent visit to celebrate an anniversary confirmed our previous visits. We both had great cocktails, an excellent short rib main course, a very nice complimentary creme brûlée, but the Cesar salad was a major let down. We still had an excellent experience, except for the salad, and would still recommend them for future visits.
First off... this is a hotel restaurant. However, it has some unique characteristics that make it very attractive for locals. The setting within the restaurant itself is somewhat romantic with a fireplace and couches, and a "fire wall" that spans the front of the restaurant. The resort, and the restaurant, both have decent views of the oceans, although the view is miles away. The venue itself is what earned my 4-stars.
The food changes from time to time and so would my review, had I posted this a few years back. The food, under the current chef (July, 2017) is solid. Not excellent, but good to very good. On our recent visit, I had the cauliflower appetizer, which was excellent, the Kobe Beef Sirloin, which was good, and the Crab Cakes which were good but lacked flavor - could have used an accompanying sauce. The food was "good" in general, but expensive for "good." About $140 for our meals, all-in.
Their beer list used to be limited to the usual hotel beers (Bug, Stella, Blue Moon, etc.) but on my last visit I noticed that the bottle list has grown to include local craft beers - an absolute must for any San Diego county restaurant.
Overall, we keep coming back. Why? It's a great spot for date night, and the food is good.
Four of us met there for Sunday brunch. The hotel, restaurant and view are very nice. There was a live guitarist we were concerned about since we were seated right next to him, but he surprisingly did not play too loud.
The food was very good. The brunch libations were somewhat disappointing. Two in our party ordered Caprese Bloody Mary's . They appeared, and tasted, like water with a slight tomato flavor. Rather than drink these first Mary's, we instead ordered the Signature Bloody Mary's. These were more typical and tasted just fine.
Two in our party ordered bottomless mimosas. The initial drinks were good, but the glasses sat empty for much of the meal. We flagged down another server to refill the sparkling wine. She apologized and told us she would never let her table run dry for so long. The first refill was with sparkling wine that was so flat, it literally tasted like water mixed with O.J. The server (who was still not the one assigned to our table) was nice enough to bring a fresh bottle. Overall, food was good, drinks were 50/50. Service was spotty. The server we did not have appeared to be much more attentive than the one assigned to our table.
I do think I would go back. I would be sure to let the server know upfront to watch our drinks.
