Twelve Eighty - Inspired Dining
The food was fantastic, the place was clean and calm. We waited until 1 to avoid the lunch rush. We were not disappointed.
Everything was better than previous dinners a couple of years ago. Great food and service. The wine list was updated with lower prices. Delicious!
First class restaurant - everything was perfect! Would definitely go back on our next visit to Atlanta!
Overall a good experience with a few exceptions. I did not get my seating in the main dining room after making my reservation back in February. Buffet food items should have been labeled. Tablecloths should have covered all tables. It was Mother's Day! My shoes had food from the floor in the serving area. Not cleaned up in a timely manner. Prime Rib was more tender and flavorful last year.
If you want to stop in for a glass of wine after an afternoon show, sure, go for it. If you want a meal before an evening performance it will be hit or miss. While our server was nice enough, he got our order wrong. Not a huge deal but before we were seated we made a point of telling them we had an 8pm curtain to make. Steak came out raw, it was ordered well done. My bison burger was charred to a cinder (ordered medium). The starter we ordered (Reuben egg roll) was tasteless with the added insult that it shot out scalding hot oil onto my lip. I would've asked for a piece of ice but our server had disappeared and no one else was around.
I get it, they are busy prior to showtime but they should be prepared for a Saturday evening rush.
After the morning at the High Museum and with an afternoon performance at the Woodruff, this was the most logical choice for four of us for lunch. Frankly I wasn't expecting much comparing to usual museum dining. But it was really outstanding. All of us found our food exceptional. We had a very friendly and efficient server. It was a perfect experience (although a little sound deadening treatment would do wonders -- it was very difficult to hold a conversation).
Terrific experience. Best to reserve as it can be very busy.
Food was DELICIOUS! Lamb and seafood pasta were excellent entrees! Service was friendly and sensitive to our time as we were going to Alliance Theatre show after dinner. We would recommend it and look forward to going back soon!!!
Kitchen was sooooo slow. Waiter was great. Not his fault.
It's very pricey. But convenient for before an event.
Service was a little slow. Appeared there was only one server for a large room.
The srevice is excellent and the food wonderful.
The staff there is amazing, I would highly recommend this place if you are in the Arts Center area.
The food and service were excellent but the noise level, becase of the cavernous, nature of the building, made conversation almost impossible at times.
Wonderful lamb chops/sauce as previous reviewers had indicated. However, the sides for that dish felt very un-inspired compared to the high quality and creativity of everything else we had. Great service! Super convenient for dining before a concert.
Nice bar and appetizers. Mediocre entrees (scallops and lamb chops). “Inspired “ dining? No.
Delicious food and great service in a wonderful atmosphere. Measures up to a very nice place to have a wonderful meal.
Food is good for a restaurant convenient for Woodruff/ASO. Service can be slow on performance days; the staff are good, there just aren’t enough of them. We saw many plates brought to the wrong tables, so better organization and training are needed. Definitely worth trying before a performance. Just get there 90-120 minutes before the start of the show.
Lovely restaurant and the food was excellent. The coconut ice cream was so fresh and delicious.
First time visiting the High museum to see the Phillips collection. Decided to make a lunch reservation at 1280, steps away. Met at the door immediately. Gracious host. Waiter to the table within minutes even though a busy lunch crowd. Charming and knowledgeable waiter. Food was excellent. Sparkling wine excellent. Very noisy would be my only complaint but the architecture lends itself to that, so expect it.
We were greeted well and seated right away (despite being late due to traffic - but we did call and tell them) Waited a while to be served a drink. Seemed like server had too many tables. She was friendly and helpful just harried.
We ordered appetizers: Fried Cauliflower was good. Devilled eggs were great!
Food came... one meal (ribeye) was ordered medium. Came raw in the middle... RED (almost purple) had to be sent back. Since we were headed to the symphony we were time pressed so that was a little stressful. When it came back it was good but there was too much coating on it and the veggies were mushy. There was a sweet potato but it had nothing on it... no butter, nothing. Just sitting there
Overall we eat there because it's convenient for the symphony but the food is always a little overpriced and not always cooked well.
Great food! Good service! Pure enjoyment! Wonderful pair with visit to the High.
Ok overall total service and attentiveness by staff below average. Food quality was average but looked good. Not the place if you’re on a time line.
Are here before an Alliance event. My wife make the mistake of ordering a bowl of the vegetable chowder... Only in that it should have been a cup since she wanted dessert. Soup was delicious. I had the cheeseboard which didn't push the envelope but the offerings were fine. Followed that with the seafood papardelle and my wife had the Farro veggie bowl... She took half home (remember the soup?). Finished with tres leche cake for me (outstanding) and Woodruff special for her. All in all, a lovely meal
The food was very good but the service was haphazard at best. The food was generally delivered in a timely manner, but drinks took forever even with frequent reminders to the servers. We had to ask several times for more water. The location was ideal when attending events at the Woodruff Arts Center and I would go again.
Ok had to wait long time
Arrived 30 min before our reservation time. The hostess said she couldn't seat us early so we waited. Politeness was not her strength... When we returned we saw another hostess. She checked the screen and noted "somehow" their system was showing us already seated which was obviously not the case. 🤔
Our waiter was polite but overworked. He did bring us an extra order of Deviled eggs because our food took too long to be ready. That was the only positive.
We ordered a Cuban sandwich. We got the strangest Cuban sandwich we've ever had. Not good. Ordered coffee. No spoons. No real sugar at first.
Chairs were not clean. Overall not a good experience.
Beethoven's 9th was the highlight of the day, not the restaurant.
Always a treat before the symphony. Great food, great service. The only down side is the noise level when the restaurant is full. Make conversation a bit difficult.
We enjoy making our Sunday at the symphony a little more special by picking someplace to dine prior to the concert. This is our second visit to Twelve Eighty and each time we’ve chosen a light meal with wine or a cocktail. Each time the meal was smartly prepared and delicious. It is a perfect open ambiance that pairs perfectly with an afternoon in the city
Amateur hour at Woodruff Arts Center.
Horrendously slow food service and inexperienced, poorly trained wait staff.
We arrived at 12:45 am for a leisurely lunch before a 2:30 p.m. play and let the manager know our need to finish our meal and pay by 2 p.m.
We ordered our food at 1:10 pm and received it at 2 pm. Manager told us we "still had plenty of time" to rush to our seats before the curtain. Would be embarrassed to share this experience with any out-of-town guest or in-town friend!
flatbread was on a cracker that crumbled. Bahn wrap was dry
Food was very good. The staff was very nice but needs to be better trained. The restaurant did not seem to be properly managed. Was very convenient when going to an event at Woodruff Arts Center but would not go here for any other reason
Uninspired dining. Honestly expected quality due to its location. Go to Rose + Rye instead. You can walk across to Woodruff Arts Center and leave your car parked in valet.
1280 is a great resource if you're attending the Atlanta Symphony. In past visits the service was mediore but this time was outstanding. The food was served hot and presented well. My only constructive criticism - if you're going to charge $12 for a cocktail, it should be a portion that doesn't appear like half a cocktail.
Latest available time for reservation (with time to make concert) was 4:45 yet when we left at 6:00 most tables were still empty. Found this rather irritating.
It's fine if you are going to the arts center after, but wouldn't go there otherwise. Food is uninspired.
If we didn't notice the noise level, it must have been just fine, along with everything else! Thank you for a fine meal. Next time, we'll have dessert, too!
The food was delicious and service excellent. It was convenient to have dinner there before going to hear the ASO.
Tried to reserve a table for 2 @ 6 pm, but had to settle for 5:45. Got tied up in horrible traffic and called to say we'd be late. Arrived at 6:15 and were seated immediately (restaurant was maybe 2/3 full. Server knew we had theater @ 7:30. Ordered wine;server delivered in reasonable time. Ordered food (2 small plates) between 6:30 and 6:40. After several queries regarding its whereabouts it finally showed up at 7:15, so we took half of it home. Fortunately the server knew to do the right thing and not charge us for it.
Perfect place for dinner when trying to make a performance at the Alliance Theatre, Hertz Stage or Symphony Hall.
