Twelve Eighty - Inspired Dining
I usually only dine at twelve eighty before performances at the Art Center. Each time I’ve dinned at this restaurant I have been served a quality meal with great services. This lead me to reserve a table here for my wife and a few out of town guest. Once again the food and service was great. I had the salmon. My wife had the flatbread and both of our guest had the bison burger. Will defiantly return to this twelve eighty again.
Great food, superior service, and the location cannot be beaten when going to the symphony or the High! What else needs to be said?!
We had a pleasant server, but we had to repeatedly request needed items. Four times for bread. I felt he know we were there but just couldn’t get to us.
I eat at 1280 often primarily for its location at the arts center and I like the food. The service is never great, but this was really below acceptable.
This is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Everything on the menu is delicious and reasonably priced. Service is always excellent.
This place is great. Don't let the High Museum give you the impression of $$. For the quality of food, pricing is very reasonable. On show nights the place runs like a watch. Pretty amazing.
Perfect for affordable, pre-symphony dining and one parking fee! The food was good.
We typically eat at 1280 when attending a concert at Symphony Hall. The food has always been excellent, the prices not out of synch with the location (read: definitely not cheap but also not extravagant). Service has always been very good, they don't rush you (which I love) but they are aware that many folks have an event to attend. The ambience is rather austere and with no soft surfaces it tends to be noisy. OTOH, their martinis have always been top-notch, even if they don't offer bleu cheese-stuffed olives. Overall, I recommend 1280 and we have reservations there in another two weeks. I look forward to returning.
It took to long--- I told the waiter and also the hostess staff! We arrived as per our reservation at 12 noon on Sunday with our twin grandsons and we ordered right away as we had 1:30plans at the Alliance theatre.
It took 1/2 hour for the boys to get their lunch and then husband and I were served 15 mins after for salads.
We left the restaurant and seating at the theatre was first come first serve so we had to take seats half way back in the theatre-- big disappointment and expensive mistake. You must serve promptly when people are coming to the museum or theatre especially if it involves children and family members. A Sunday afternoon is precious time. And the menu for children was great but everyone was stressed out waiting. There were four teenage girls at the hostess desk and one server ( Jason) running the entire dining room. Ridiculous use of people and shoed lack of attention to customers!
Our server was extremely pleasing to have and he was very knowledgeable about the entrees. The food was extremely tasty and came out relatively fast! Overall an awesome experience, excited to come back again!
I work at the Woodruff Arts Center and I dine at 1280 at least three or four times a month. The food is always good. The service is fast and friendly.
Four of us had a great meal and relaxing time before attending The Wizard of Oz at 7. We were not rushed at all and the staff did an excellent job getting us out as planned.
The location, service, menu sélection drive the review. I've yet to have a bad experience here.
Eat before symphony. They made sure I got my food on time and it was delicious!!
Great food and service. Enjoyed our meal before attending the symphony.
My wife and I have eaten at Table 1280 many times. The food is good, the ambiance is OK, and the service is very good. However, making reservations through OpenTable is a recipe for confusion. Several years ago using this "service" I ended up with two duplicate sets of reservations. After that I swore off OpenTable and made reservations by telephoning Table 1280 directly. In checking the restaurant on-line for our most recent visit it appeared that I could make a reservation via Google and not OpenTable, but it turned out that was incorrect. OpenTable sent an e-mail confirming my reservation, but the section of the message that should have contained the day and date consisted of two gray bars and no information. So, I called Table 1280 (which I should have done in the first place) and discovered that in fact the reservation had been made. At least OpenTable got it right, but only half way.
The dishes are always first rate, but the kitchen is slow and the main dining room understaffed. Our table of four received apologies from our waiter for delays at least 3 times during the course of our meal. One would think that a restaurant dependent on traffic for the Alliance and ASO would staff up before performances.
Always a nice atmosphere and creative food, but my entree choice of diver scallops was quantitatively disappointing compared to my companion's salmon. The latter rested on a large bed of couscous accented with vegetables while my three lonesome scallops were accompanied by a carrot purée with cauliflower and green pea accents. Delicious yes; artful yes; but left me wanting more.
First of all The waiter dropped the appetizer on my sweater and chair and that was not very pleasant. The music was way too loud and asked about three times to have them lower the music since we could barely speak to each other at the table. The wait staff was very friendly and very nice. Unfortunately after their appetizer got all over my sweater I was not very happy. The manager came over and gave me his card and said he would pay for my dry cleaning and I should call him, but I feel like he should have just taken off five dollars or whatever he thought the dry cleaning would be. That would have been nicer and now making me call him and him having to send me a check. We love coming to 1280 for dinner when we have symphony tickets or Alliance theater tickets, so I hope this was only a one time incident.
A group of us eat there often before theater. Always accommodating to be sure we are on time for show. Food is great!
Prior to a show at Alliance we met another couple for dinner. This was our second visit. The first was a little off with the timing of the food, but this was much better, maybe because there were only a few other couples in the room.
My app was the Caesar salad. This was uninspired, a few Romaine leaves with a lot of dressing. I like a lot of dressing on my salads, but this was a little more than I prefer. If you are not a dressing lover, ask for light or on the side.
My buddy told me to order the Chicken Stack. I am glad he did. The chicken and potatoes were perfect and the sauce was delightful. This is a definite recommended dish.
Service is OK, they really try hard, but you get the feeling that everyone is sorta "in training." Super nice, super want to do the right thing but not natural just yet.
Visited 1280 before a trip to the High Museum. We found the large windows made it a very pleasant space (tho I wonder if it would be cold if it had been a chilly day). It wasn’t busy and we had very good service. The food arrived, Cuban sandwich and Asian chicken salad, and we were surprised at just how tasty and well-prepared everything was. And the portions were generous (two people could have easily shared one dish). The dishes were well-seasoned without screaming too much salt. The one thumbs down would be noise level. Every surface was hard so there was nothing to absorb sound and it did get rather loud even though it was not overly crowded.
Very convenient if you are going to a play , symphony or the High Museum. There were several good salad and sandwich options. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate dessert was also good.
We have season tickets to ASO and go to 1280 before each performance. We've always enjoyed it, but lately, not so much. We were seated in the bar, which we stated was definitely not our preference, and the noise was so loud, my hearing aids kept screeching. I have always ordered and enjoyed 1280's scallops. Thursday night we were dismayed to see that in spite of a raised price for the item, the # of scallops was reduced from 4 to 3. It was more an appetizer than a main course. As an additional disapointment, the scallops were covered with some thick reddish brown sauce. No! Scallops should speak for themselves. I scraped off the sauce and left hungry. We'll be back; we have reservations for several more performances. We will have to rethink next season.
Good selection of appetizers and entrees. Nicely served. Rooms are a bit sterile save for the bar area but otherwise a nice experience before the performance.
Great food & service?
The food was ok. The service was slow and the staff not overly friendly or attentive
Ideal spot for dinner before a show at the Alliance.
My grandson was at his first home school field trip at the High Museum. I have a membership at the High so I decided to make reservations so I could take my son and grandson to a special lunch! I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. And . . .the food was excellent. I had the steak salad - the steak was perfect and delicious. My son got the bison Berger. He shared a bite and it was the best Berger I have ever had!! My grandson had a perfect child plate. This will be our tradition each time we are at the High!
The service was totally lacking. We were seated at 6:30 but did not receive our appetizer until an hour later. Then the entree came at 7:40 making us rush through for the Symphony performance at 8:00PM.
On my way back to the table after getting up to summon the waiter, I tripped on the extended chair leg
of the adjoining table and fell flat on the floor. Poorly designed chairs for a crowded dining room! A woman who showed us where to hang our coats who was also the hostess simply looked at me from a distance. My scallops were beautifully displayed on the plate but were overcooked. Needless to say, the patrons of the Woodruff Art Center deserve better.
We had an outstanding waiter, Matt. He was attentive, very helpful with menu selections and especially wine options. We will definitely come back and hopefully enjoy the service again offered by Matt!
We dined at Twelve Eighty twice in one week. The first time it was excellent. Good service, good food, and plenty of time to make it to our theatre performance. Then, less than a week later, we returned for dinner prior to the symphony. We had the same server, who told us they were busy that night. This was surely not a surprise: there were both symphony and theatre performances that night. After 30 minutes we received our drinks. After 90 minutes we finally, after inquiring several times, received our food. (One table of diners gave up and left before their meals came.) We had asked for bread three times to blunt our hunger. Finally, we were told they were out of bread. WHAT HAPPENED? And why were we not told the kitchen was having a problem? We had 10 minutes to eat and get to the performance. Highly unacceptable. It's great having a nice restaurant as part of the Woodruff Center, but they really need to get their act together.
The restaurant was evacuated while we were having lunch. We very much appreciate you taking care of our bill.
We were going to the Alliance show at 2:00. It would have been very helpful if someone had come outside to let us know we could enter the building housing the Alliance Theater.
Other than that.. great 1280 experience.
Service was not appropriately staffed which resulted in some slowness, however still made the performance on time.
Server not very attentive. Never got our appetizer. We had to ask about it then was too late
The vegetable farro is incredible. Lashan was friendly! Great spot in the heart of Midtown.
Friendly wait staff. Creative menu with something for everyone. They don't just use their location to get diners, 1280 is really good.
Delightful meal experience. Kudos to Carlos for his excellent service.
Bad experience. No other patrons in the restaurant when I arrived, yet service was slow. The burger I ordered took an extremely long time to arrive. The other patrons that arrived after me had all been served their main course by the time my meal arrived. The burger and fries were cold. A new burger was ordered. It arrived overcooked. Waiter delivered check without asking if I wanted dessert. The waiter didn't refill the water glass until after bringing the check. He left my plate on the table and I finally had to ask him to clear the table. I was very disappointed because I usually enjoy this restaurant
Kitchen just cannot get it right. Nothing comes at the right or same time. My dish was so salty could not eat. Such a shame.
Amazing restaurant! This is my go to meeting place for lunch!! Love it!
