Tuyo Ratings and Reviews
Tuyo had a reputation I really wanted to check for myself. The reviews were absolutely right. The food is creatively prepared with seasonal and local ingredients. The service was the best I found in Miami where our server was not only knowledgeable about the food and its preparation but about the wine too. This is definitely a great place.
Food is tasty. Not the best portion sizes based on price but the flavors and execution is usually good. I’ve been to Tuyo a few times so this is not based on a single experience. The view is nice and a great view of the Miami Freedom Tower. Also great location close to downtown activities. When they aren’t booked. It’s a great place to eat at. Recently I went an hour before a concert and it was packed. We sat down when we had our reservation and we were provided water and bread. For the first 30min that was all that happened. No other waiter came to the table, nobody attempted to serve additional water or bread. It was extremely poorly managed. It took us getting up out of our seats to tell them about it. Of course we ended up late to our concert. The management didn’t even try to compensate and the waiter just said, that’s what happens in Miami things don’t always start on time. Truly disappointed, not just of the slow service but, in the lack of an attempt to compensate for the mismanagement. As nice as the food is, it doesn’t compensate for the poor management and apathetic service.
Amazing customer service however, when I made my reservations, I specifically requested to sit near the window but apparently when I got there, no one read what i had requested. They sat me in a corner with half of the window view. The best thing in the restaurant was the servers. I give them a 10/10.
The view, and the service were outstanding as always. The food was good, I had the beet carpaccio, it was a bit to vinegary for my taste & my entre was the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection and all very good. My husband had the Foie Gras with a mushroom bread pudding it was very good & for his entre he had the Duck it was good. The wine we choose they were out of for dinner. We had instead a cocktail which was very good, and I had wine which was good. We ordered desert unfortunately, one the components peppercorn Ice Cream had not come out the way chef wanted so they replaced it with another ice cream. But it was not to our liking as neither of us like rum raison, so we skipped desert, better for the waist line. Overall experience ten being the best a 9.
I had heard good things about this downtown Miami hidden gem and wasn’t disappointed. The lunch menu had several interesting items and I settled on a sweet plantain soup that was very unique with a great presentation and best of all, tasted excellent. My grouper entree was equally satisfying and it didn’t break the bank. Fantastic view of the AAA and bay. I will be certain to return soon...with more friends.
The messages I received the day of telling me to confirm my reservation with them or else have it cancelled were off-putting. I got over it once we arrived and were welcomed and seated. The views are lovely for sure and the food was mostly of the quality we expected. The ceviche didn't impress and the pork belly was not as tender and succulent as a top rated chef should make it. The items we tried from the Miami Spice menu were great, especially the corn and conch chowder. Both dessert pies were deconstructed which we didn't care for but after everything else we had eaten it didn't matter so much. Service was good; the hostess was friendly. Our waiter only repeated the menu description when we asked him to tell us about certain items so he missed that opportunity to really sell us on the food; he also didn't spend much time checking on us, and so missed the chance to sell more to drink. The men who brought the bread and delivered the food to the table, though, were excellent.
We ate here Wednesday evening before the Ed Sheehan concert at American Airlines arena because of its close location. The food was very creative and delicious with new takes on traditional dishes. Service was outstanding. We highly recommend this restuarant for any occasion. Our dinner plus drinks, tax, and tip averaged about $70 a person but was well worth the cost and good value for everything we had!
We went here for Miami Spice Lunch. We had difficulty finding the parking so we had to park a few blocks down. We had the Soup- which was not warm. The entree- burger and the fish was OK but the dessert- Coconut Flan was great . I am glad we went for Miami Spice b/c I wouldn't pay anymore then the special price.
This was not the first time we ate at Tuyo, and the portions in this occasion were much smaller than previous visits, maybe the description of the plates gave us an impression of a meal that was not happening, still tasty though, service could be friendlier, not that it was really bad.
I went there for Miami Spice.
The food was very good.
However, I noticed a few mistakes concerning service that shouldn't happen in this kind of high end restaurant. The waiter when pouring the wine was acting so fast that he dropped drops of wine in my glass of water or on the table.
This shouldn't happen in this kind of high-end restaurant where you would expect service to be perfect. He should pay more attention.
Excellent food and service. We were seated in a great table with view of Freedom Tower, AAA and Biscayne Boulevards. Unfortunately we thought that not having a place where you can wait for your table was a huge minus. Also the elevator had a very strong and fouled smell.
