We dined at the Kitchen on a busy Sunday afternoon. We ordered the arancini balls and calamari as an appetizer. The arancini balls were flavorful, but the calamari lacked flavor, and we thought the batter was too loose. Could have been crispier and cooked less.

We both ordered the wild mushroom ravioli - large and small dishes available. They were fabulous. So great that we walked over to the store and bought two more packages and made them with some TK sausages. The son ordered the wild boar. He thought it was a bit too salty, but the gnocchis were to die for. They were little puffy clouds on a plate. They had a little cheesy sauce inside that was scrumptious.

We were disappointed. Normally we love this restaurant. I hope they were just having a bad night and not falling short on service and food because of their expansion. My husband's pasta was cold, we didn't get the appetizer we ordered (but were charged for the wrong one), my husband's drink order was wrong and I had to ask twice for crème for my coffee.

Like I said this is our go to restaurant for special occasions, we were there to celebrate our anniversary. My husband said he doesn't think he will go back for awhile he was that disappointed. Sorry ….

Great and delicious food. The shrimp and risotto was excellent. The sirloin was fork tender and cooked perfectly to medium well. Loved the prosciutto appetizer.

Incredibly slow service - one of the first tables seated and only ordered a main course...20 min to get bread after ordering and 45 min to get food. All too long for a mostly empty large restaurant. When the food arrived it had clearly been sitting out waiting to be brought to the table as a crust had formed on the pasta dishes and they were no longer hot. Food was okay but spoiled by the wait. A bummer because I had heard great things.

Tuscan Kitchen is a phenomenal restaurant. I have only eaten at the one in Salem, NH but it has not disappointed me ever. It is a little pricey but it's worth it. The service was terrific. The waitress new I had a strong liking to blue cheese stuffed olives and she made sure my martini was perfectly dressed with these. The appetizer wood grilled scallops was fantastic. The meal was superb. There are just no words to describe how delicious both our meals were. We did order a crème brulee for desert and it too was delicious.

We have been coming to Tuscan Kitchen when it opened years,ago we love it..however I must say was a little dissapointed in my meal..I ordered the home made fusilli with a meatball and sausge..pasta was good so was the meatball, but my first bite into the sausage I got a huge piece of gristle or knot as I call gave a piece to.my husband he got the same thing..I did not eat it and was turn off by this experience.
Just a suggestion if you do not make your own you might want to buy your sausages at Bianco..in Medford..actually some Market Baskets carry them..when you have one if those sausages you will never get that gristle..just pure sausage meat..

I love Tuscan Kitchen. I have been to the Salem location many times over the years! My husband and I visited for my birthday Saturday night. Our server was attentive and informative. She let us know that there were items on them but they were out of. Unfortunately that is why I only gave 4 stars on the food. The appetizer I ordered was no longer available, but I did not know that until after I ordered it. She made a great suggestion instead. We will be back again!

Overall service was slower than usual and they were out of a few things we had planned on ordering. Took over 40 minutes for food to arrive. We eat here fairly often, this was not up to their usual standards

Worst dining experience in a long time. Food was cold, tiny portions and somehow the waitress seemed to act like it was our fault we weren't happy. When you pay $18 for a child sized portion of cold pasta with only 1 shrimp in the whole dish, there is a problem. I'm a foodie and dine out several times a week. Avoid this place.

Our waitress was outstanding! 2 of the 4 meals came out under cooked. 60 dollar steak was underwhelming for sure. Chicken dish was excellent. Expensive for what we got.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Food was skimpy..the Octopus appetizer, Cucumber Cosmo was watered down, bread stale, salmon overdone. Our friends had terrible food too..very fatty chicken, shoe leather veal. Will never return to this place.

We had reservations and were seated as soon as we checked in. When we asked if it were possible to sit somewhere a little more private we were immediately moved to a booth. The service was exceptional as well as the food. Will make this a once a month stop for sure!

Tuscan Kitchen has lovely food, very nice servers.
This was my second experience of having a reservation and waiting to be seated - for awhile - with no one making eye contact with me and others being seated ahead of me after having arrived after my party checked in. I had to ask for someone to seat us a second time.
Your staff needs to step up service - from front desk through the meal - to be best-in-class, which would be the expectation for this restaurant.

This was the second time we tried the Tuscan Kitchen in Salem. The first time we had reservations and waited 30 minutes to be seated. The food was average and service not that great. We tried it again on a Saturday night. It started off well; however, it became very clear that the service was terrible slow. The restaurant wasn't that busy but we were not a priority. Drinks and food took forever to arrive. After 2 hours we cancelled our dessert just so we could leave. We have been to the Portsmouth location and the experience was light years ahead of Salem.

I was disappointed in both the service and the food. We had to ask for utensils, clean plates, and for used plates to be removed. We had to send an appetizer back (it was cold) and one entry was totally wrong. My shrimp were very over cooked. They did not have the dessert we wanted to order from their menu so we had to settle for second and third choices. This was a special occasion and they did acknowledge that very nicely. Our server was over loaded so our service was not as good as it should have been. Maybe it would have been better not n a Saturday night, but the restaurant should plan for weekends. I would not return.

We have been here a few times... hit or miss! This time a complete miss. It took 45 minuets for appetizers. Meals were barely warm and my mothers meal was completely incorrect. Management offered desserts for free. At this point 2 1/2 hours later we just wanted to leave. We had told our waiter numerous times that it was taking a very long time. He did apologize (not his fault that the kitchen is backed up). Sad we had to ask to speak to a manager. Most make the rounds at dinner to check in... such a disappointment... for the price point you would expect better service. We will not be back that is one thing for sure.

Had reservations and were seated quickly. We had a waiter who was extremely slow with the service. Never came around to see how everything was of if we wanted another round of cocktails. Was not the service I would expect. Disappointing.

We were craving Italian and decided to try Tuscan Kitchen.
The menu was good. They were able to accommodate a few plates with changes requested.
The wine list though not the best around was more than enough. Good prices as well as a good selection.
Our server Brian was too good. He really made us feel at home and had a few good laughs with us. Without him the place was 3.5-4 starts with him it was easily 4.5+.
Overall this place was nice and I'd come back again.

The ambience is great. The dinners were delicious. The roasted cod with little neck clams and polenta was out of this world. The pasta dish with red sauce, a meatball and s sausage made my husband so happy. It was his birthday and he was thrilled.

When we ordered the calamari, I requested red sauce for dipping. We waited forever for it, despite asking a few people for it. The calamari was almost cold by the time it finally arrived. Only disappointment. Service was ok, not great. Had to ask for a coke refill.

Cocktails were varied, created and much appreciated. I will absolutely return but will forget the calamari next time.

I had the pan seared cod and it was horrible. It was limp, watery, and tasteless. My husband had the chicken parm. It was ok, but nothing better than I make at home for a basic dinner. Our server was nice...but after only 30 minutes of being in out seats....including the time it took to get apps, drinks, and dinner... the hostess (who was UNfriendly at best) came to our table to see if were were finished so she could box us up. WOW!!! It was quite apparent that she was trying to get us out as there was a line for seating and we were only a 2 top at a booth. Our whole relaxing Saturday night out turned into a huge distasteful rush!

Needless to say. we will not be giving a great review to our friends about the Tuscan Kitchen.
