Huge place, nice view of kitchen, main course portions are, as in Italy, only the main dish without sides, great Italian food market in same building. Food could be improved by serving on pre-heated plates.
Keith was very knowledgeable and a superb server!! Can't wait to go back!! The food was amazing!!
We enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner ! Thank you
The food portions are small
Great food and service. Four of us had appetizers and entrees and we were all happy with our choices.
We have been to the Tuscan Kitchen in Salem where the food and service was very good. I wish I could go back and time and get our Saturday night back as the service was absolutely terrible.
The waiter disappeared, so water, and other drinks not filled. In addition, we actually had to clear the mess from the table ourself after dinner, as he only cleared part of it - and well, disappeared again.
We were originally headed to Abe and Louie’s in Boston, and that is we we should have ended up apparently.
The lack of service ruined our meal and our night.
No excuse. Just not acceptable...
We will most definitely not be back.
We were a group of 4. All was fine until waiter cleared the dishes of those finished, along with everything else on the table (dipping oil for bread, etc.) and returned with “doggy” bags for 3 people, while 1 person was still eating lunch and bread w/oil. It was very upsetting and embarrassing for the person left eating. That person pushed aside her meal and didn’t finish or even want to ask to take it home. Although he acknowledged she was still eating, he continued clearing the table and brought a dessert menu. Lousy way to end what should have been an enjoyable lunch. Very rude way for your waitstaff to treat their customers/guests. I hope TK will address this - especially if this is standard protocol. Thank you.
Staff accommodated a table for 9 on extremely short notice. The service and food was excellent. Very quiet but also private atmosphere. Overall excellent experience.
Always a favorite
We were extremely disappointed. The Bolognese sauce was very watery (we’re talking a pool of water around the sides) and the shrimp scampi was so fishy smelling we were afraid to eat it (we’re sure it was beyond its expiration date). We have been to Italy many times and never found watery pasta sauce or scampi that smelled so bad it was overpowering.
The service was great, the atmosphere is great, but the food is not good.
We arrived promptly for our 7:00 reservation and the place was closed. No text, no call. Inexcusable. We will never patronize nor recommend this restaurant again.
Nice Thanksgiving meal. Ordered off the regular menu even though they did offer a turkey dinner. Food was very good I had shrimp scampi (could have another shrimp or two) and my friend had Bolognese - she said hers was excellent. Service could have been better. They were understaffed for Thanksgiving but we weren’t in a hurry and our waiter was very pleasant and doing his best to keep everyone happy. I will definitely go back.
Thanksgiving...first time going out on a holiday and wasn’t sure how I was going do. Our waitress was VERY sweet and comforting. I had a wonderful time. The food was delicious. Was not rushed along. Was a delightful day!! Thank you!!
Seating was cozy and comfortable for a party of 4. I had a tasty pumpkin martini.
Incredible birthday dinner with my siblings (sister's big 65th!) We were seated right away, and they accommodated my request to have chilled bubbly at our table before we sat down. Our server John D. deserves special note as he was friendly, funny, had extensive knowledge of the menu, suggested perfect wines for our entrees and tried to entice us to order dessert, but we were just too full. Can't wait to travel to the area again for another meal. And don't forget the gourmet shopping right next door. They sell luscious items that will be perfect for a picnic this summer.
One minor drawback, we should have asked for a table instead of a booth, but it won't stop us from returning!!
Lively atmosphere with good food. Prepare to spend $$.
First timer & impressed. Great atmosphere. The Market was surprisingly big, unique & many great finds! 2 bars - a sports bar & a quieter but large bar. Food took a while to come out but was a Saturday night. Will visit again.
We went to The Tuscan Kitchen during restaurant week; We had a great server but he was clearly very busy because it took forever to get a soup spoon, and we asked for lemon for our fish and that took a long time too. The fish dish was pretty bland so we had to add salt and lemon, and one of our party had the clam pasta dish and there were exactly four clams - in the shells so we know! - around homemade pasta. So the meal was just OK but the restaurant it self is lovely and we love the market next door.
The food is amazing here. The menu isn't extravagant but you can always find something, just if you want pasta and sauce. Complimentary bread is delicious, drinks are good and desserts are awesome.
A family of four, with a bottle of wine and desserts can easily spend $200 here, but this is truly a case of you get what you pay for..large portions, delicious food and great service.
The food was great, however our dinner was interrupted by a fire alarm. The Fire Department came although it was just smoke from the pizza oven. Because of the disturbance we should have received some compensation i.e. free drink, dessert etc.
My boyfriend and I came in this Sunday. We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice dinner! The host Meredith was very helpful. We were able to place our reservation online. Never been disappointed here. Only complaint I have is that the family sitting next to us ruined the atmosphere/ romantic date night. They had children that were a bit noisy, but not a big deal at all, it just ruined the ambiance. Overall, my favorite place for a date night. The gluten free menu options are outstanding! My boyfriend was able to find something he could enjoy. The waiter was very respectful and let us take our time. Thanks for another great visit!
Not alot of value for what you get. Quality was very good. Again over priced.
Very nice server, great table. Food was good, a little bit pricey for what we got. Would go back again.
We made reservations and were seated on time. The food was not anything to write home about. The prices were too high and the menu selection was not appealing. The waitress was friendly but forgot to order and bring us our appitizer so we just recieved our dinner. All in all I would not go back. The enviornment is a glorifyed cafeteria with an Italian ambiance.
Food took a very long time to come and wasn't that good.
The dining experience was upbeat, festive, and fun! Food was delicious, wine choice made by waiter Keith was very good. It was a great choice for Restaurant Week in Portsmouth. The only down side was that we made a reservation and the table was across from the kitchen, so it was less romantic. Next time I will ask for a booth. All in all, it was excellent and we'll be back!
went with friends for sunday brunch. everyone enjoyed....
As always, Tuscan Kitchen, Portsmouth NH, is always great. However, this night was extremely busy, our waiter had a burden attending all his tables and got a tad behind. He did attempt to keep up but was overtaken by events. Overall, a great night with great food and albeit service slower than usual...
TK requested a separate review as well, provided.
BEST PLACE EVER. Food is amazing no matter what you order.
Not our first visit. We find the food, service and ambiance at Tuscan Kitchen to be consistently good.
Food is always fantastic. We were celebrating my son’s birthday!!
It was my first time dining there and being of European descent (from a place close to Italy), the food was high standard and authentic
I loved the grocery store next door. I can now get good parmigiana cheese, good olive oil, Parma ham and my favorite Baci chocolates!
I have been to this restaurant in the past and really enjoyed it. This time I felt like it was just ok. The portions for the price are really small and our server was again just ok
Excellent food, wine and service. We will be back again soon
Tuscan offers a place to bring clients for lunch and also a convenient place to meet people after work.
Kolby was an excellent server. She was very knowledgeable on the menu and wine list. The food was outstanding.
This was our second visit and the experience was just a great this time. The wait staff is very knowledgable, friendly and attentive. The cuisine is superb!! The atmosphere is quiet and elegant. We are moving to the western part of New Hampshire and are delighted to know there is a Tuscan Kitchen in Salem.
The dinner was a perfect end of a nice day at the coast.
Packed on this Sat night. Reservation is recommended. Friends from out of town were very impressed with selection, preparation, taste. Outstanding service. Must try the hiuse wine it is excelkent.
Service was so disappointing. We waited 35 minutes just to get drinks. The server didn't even ask about what pasta we wanted. We watched our dinners out getting cold for 15 minutes before anyone brought them over to us. Good food, just awful service.
