In 1796, the Hoboken Turtle Club was founded and became the first organized social club in American History.

Founded by Col. John Stevens, early membership included Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and John Jay. The first official meeting of the Turtle Club took place at what is now Sybil’s Cave.

‘It must first be premised that this is no ordinary club, from the day of its foundation it has existed for but one thing, the principal of epicurean pleasure’
- Col. Stevens.

Today we have re-established and reclaimed their motto of old:

‘As we journey through life, let us live by the way’

The food was hot and delicious, the service was prompt & friendly, and the drinks were inventive. The portions were large and we took home two doggy bags. It was a fun evening out after the movies nearby...

The food was great and the service was good - but it was sooo cold in the dining room! Every person seated along the benches in the back dining room was wearing a coat.

It was our first time at Turtle Club and our experience was just OK. Very dark in side and there is not many healthy dish options.

My date ordered chicken dish, literally completely raw. They refunded her meal but... we lost our appetite. Serving raw chicken is attempted murder in my book...

I love to got here late at night. For a meal I would not recommend. The food wasn't great and I spent $30 on a whole tomato with a little cheese, and a grilled cheese which had meat in it when I said no meat. Pretty sure they just took the meat out and brought it back out. There was very little cheese on the bread. Dessert they ran out of the gelato I wanted so they gave me another flavor and one scoop of the one I wanted.. spent $9 on one scoop of gelato and 2 scoops basically went to wasted. definitely could have had a better meal for the $60 I spent -- for one person.

Friendly service, good food, yummy and creative drinks! We went for restaurant week and sat outside! It was lovely!
