I have high standards and have eaten at some of the greatest restaurants in the World, so the fact that I do not give a restaurant five stars doesn't mean I was disappointed. This restaurant far exceeded expectations and I will return. The Babaganoush was excellent, perhaps the best I have ever had. The grilled meat, a simple presentation, could not have been better. My wife's appetizer, a cross between Spanakopita and Crispy Spring Rolls, gets 6 stars out of 5. We were going to the theater and wanted a meal without a lot of brain damage so we could relax before the show and Turkauz definitely delivered.
Surprisingly excellent food! Fresh ingredients. The Baklava was just perfect!!
Very attentive and polite wait staffs. Decor is simple but beautiful. The place was full but it was quite, friendly & cozy that one just like to stay and dine. Good & dessert were scrumptious. Will definitely go back again and will recommend this restaurant to friends & families.
This restaurant has it all! Amazing food , service and ambience.
We had reservations then we arrived they put us in the basement. Low ceilings and well I felt like we were bad and that is where they put us, fake candle on table was nice. Upstairs was much brighter and lots of people having fun. Food was ok. We have been to Turkey and was expecting lots of spices and sauces. Had cheese rolls for appetizers, needed some kind of sauce. Our meal was very bland with just plain white rice, for the price it was very boring and blah.
This is a real gem of a restaurant. Very good food, polite staff, nice setting.
It was a wedding anniversary dinner and they made us feel welcome and cared for. Food and service excellent. Highly recommended.
Went on a weekday. Was well received. Service was excellent and prompt. Their "glass of wine" servings are very generous, lol. Food was almost perfect. If I hadn't been to Turkey I would give it a perfect score. My only gripe was that tables are not socially distanced.
Great atmosphere. Very cozy, and intimate. Everything is clean, and inviting. Food is very good, to excellent. Portions are of a good size. People complain about the service… it wasn’t bad… just that the staff does not come to check on you very often, and rather than everyone helping out as they walk by your table… you’re forced to wait until you see your waiter to get attended to. They are very friendly, and personable however. I would definitely recommend this place, and will be coming back.
Food was great, service friendly and efficient. Wine list is limited and lacks Turkish wines, the server said they can no longer get from distributor along with bottled Efes beer.
Their menu feels a bit deceptive
The ambience and food here are excellent.
Great dinner - first time there - we will be back. Arrived early, was promptly seated, and had very attentive service, with great, authentic food.
This was an excellent restaurant and really a pretty good value for the quality and amount of food. We did the Sultan's plate which is a giant platter for 2 with an assortment of meats, salad, fries and sauces. We finished with an excellent rice pudding and a Turkish coffee. Excellent experience - waiter was not super fluent in English which occasionally was a challenge but we worked through it and I would recommend this place to anyone.
We had a birthday dinner there and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our request for the seating and offer a dessert on house. The dish recommended, sultan’s plate is delicious, fresh and filling. We enjoyed fully the ambient and deco. Also the Malbec on the wine list is great value. We had a wonderful time. Besides, very comforting that they checked the vaccine card and ID diligently. Overall we had a wonderful time and will go back soon.
Perfectly tender meat dishes presented with drama (fire) alongside an array of delicious vegetables, rice, hummus etc. It’s a women owned restaurant, no tipping. So close to theaters but far from the noise and frenzy.
Great place, nice decor, polite service and delicious kebabs.
Really really poor service. Waitress was to busy to even answer a menu question and we couldn’t catch her even for a glass of water or to order a second glass of wine. 3 of 4 dinners were mediocre however the lamp chops were excellent.
They were very accommodating and very good and the food was excellent.
Our dining experience was excellent. The service was wonderful as was the food. Very nice ambience.
The food was outstanding. The service was wonderful. Beautiful decor in a lovely restaurant. We will definitely return.
Turkuaz never disappoints! We had dined here a few years ago (pre-pandemic) and were delighted to know that the restaurant was still open. The food is as delicious as what we had when we visited Turkey and the service is warm and gracious. Highly recommend!
Wonderful backyard. Enjoyed a healthy dinner with a great salad, salmon and wine. Pretty place
We were looking for a pretty theater meal and I love good Turkish food unfortunately the food was really not very good at all. The service and was fine but the food is not worth the price.
The waiters were super nice and polite. I did not like the food at all.
Very good place
The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive. We were not a big fan of the appetizers but the entree was superb. I got the lamp chops and I was not disappointed. The deserts were also just as good. My fav was the “rice pudding” style desert. Would def recommend you are looking to go on a casual date and also looking for halal option.
Serene back porch and lovely staff. Very pleasant evening before theatre.
Highly recommend, professional staff and good quality food
Birthday dinner was terrific! Ordered the big platter with mixed grill and it came with a fire bowl in the middle. Mice presentation and very delicious meat. Baklava was the candle holder, and couldn’t have enough of it…
Good food, waiter for confused with the order. He solved it, but we were unable to eat all at the same time
Food was delicious. Service was terrible. Took over a half hour to get appetizers. We were not even offered drinks. We had to ask. Asked for unsweetened ice tea. Was given super sweet powdered ice tea. Wrong entree brought for one of the diners.
How does a restaurant run out of Baba Ghanush??
Absolutely delicious meal and fabulous service at this lovely Turkish restaurant. Superb quality fresh ingredients. It was our second time there while visiting NYC this summer and we will be back!
Had a lovely date night with delicious food and service.
Very disappointing. The service was atrocious. We waited 20 minutes watching waiters and the owner walk back and forth past our table as if we were invisible. We finally got up and asked the owner if we could order food and drinks. She looked surprised as if “why would you want that?” But then took our orders. The ship had no captain. The food was good but the mezze platter (a small dinner plate with 5 small spoonfuls of hummus, tzatsiki etc) at $45 was a complete ripoff. The bathroom was FILTHY and had no toilet paper. I was so excited to eat here but I will likely never again due to the poor service and filthy state. They won’t survive a NYC Health Dept inspection. 🤮
For your reservation of 6 at 6:30, 4 arrived at 6:33 , menus were on the table and water was served immediately. 6:42 the last 2 arrived and got water. 6:48 I came to your table. (I got surprised not for your intent to order, I was humanly reacting to the tone of voice where I sensed anger and I couldn't place it). Your drinks and food were serviced promptly and warmly, and at 8:08 your party left. NYC Health Dept granted us an A. Sad to hear that we couldn't satisfy your expectations.
Great service, great food.
Very wonderful atmosphere, food is a bit pricey for quality but all in all definitely worth a visit.
