Turks & Frogs
Turks and Frogs is a cozy restaurant and bar that specializes in Turkish cuisine. It is popular for its standout list of wines, boasting one of the most extensive collections in the West Village. Turks and Frogs features a variety of dining areas for guests to choose from. The front of the restaurant includes a large bar with seating and tables for guests. There is also a private dining area, which is dimly lit and great for special occasions or intimate dinners.
Choose from various hot and cold appetizers to begin with. Cold appetizers include smoked eggplant, dolma, Mercimek kofte and petnir sarma. Try hot appetizers like falafel, zucchini pancakes, lahmajun and crispy cheese cigars. A range of cheese and charcuterie plates are also available and are great for sharing. For the main course at Turks and Frogs, enjoy entrée dishes like chicken skewers, tuna tartare, manti and Hindili tost.
So. The kitchen was closed. And I had made a reservation about two weeks ago. For 8 people. You’d think they would have told me when they confirmed my reservation, but they did not. Pretty lame. They also didn’t tell us that they only had cold apps until we had already ordered drinks, so we sort of had to stay and finish. Pretty disappointing. We ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. Management: honesty is the best policy. I should have been told in advance about this grave inconvenience or told as soon as I arrived.
Great little wine bar with excellent food. Front section was bright and open-air on a nice spring day. We say in the cozy back section that felt like a living room with a big comfy couch, decorated with antiques and frogs!
Second time visiting this great neighborhood gem, first time for drink only, second time for dinner. The portions are fairly large for an "appetizer" and we had split 4 between the three for us for a full dinner. Delicious Mediterranean food. Will definitely be back! Super romantic for a quiet date night.

Understaffed. But the appetizers were tasty and the wine menu was very extensive.
