Must have for the authentic Turkish food lovers. I felt like i was back in Istanbul gorging on the delicious adana and behati kebab. The host was amazingly gracious and made sure our experience was special.
Fantastic food, great for vegetarians, and the service is truly kind and warm. They do all the Turkish favorites, with obvious care. Love their lentil soup and falafel.
Sat in the garden, quiet and lovely location.
I have been here about half-dozen times and it never disappoints. Each time I try to get something difference and have enjoyed everything. The eggplant/Turkish salad was delicious, as was the okra entree. My only complaint is that I wish they had latte/cappucinos, but I realize that is not Turkish :)
Cozy little place with great food and excellent service
We were seated promptly at this cozy little place by the polite and friendly staff. Dishes were served quickly (the appetizers came out in a matter of minutes). I enjoyed the grilled branzino special, which was perfectly prepared. My wife did not favor the chicken and yogurt sauce dish.
A wonderful find on 9th, by the Theater District. Very small, with friendly, attentive service. The food is terrific. Highly recommend. We'll be back!
Good food. Staff kept trying to upsell more expensive menu items
Excellent pre-theater spot
This place is truly a hidden gem! The staff was amazing from the moment we walked in. The food was fantastic! We both had the lamb chop special and the lamb was cooked to perfection. We had the pistachio cake dessert and it was like nothing I had ever had before. I found this restaurant on OpenTable, having no idea how good it would be. All the reviews I read were satisfactory but it definitely exceeded our expectations. The decor was warm and inviting. We will return to Turkish Cuisine!
This was my 3rd time at this restaurant and the best yet. The portions are very generous (especially at lunchtime as there is no lunch menu, at least not on Saturday). Three of us split the Turkish salad with feta (yummy), grilled lamb chunks over spinach special (delicious!!) and grilled bronzino (well prepared). A few “treats from the chef and manager” as well. Super for pre-theater lunch.
Turkish Cuisine was recommended to me by a friend in Brooklyn when I asked for suggestions in the Theatre District. We were in NYC from VT for a play and couple of days of R&R. Coincidentally, another couple we knew from NH was in town the same weekend. We wound up adding them to our reservation, which was very simple.
The restaurant was unimposing from the outside, but as soon as we walked it, we anticipated it being a special night. Our young wait person was extremely personable, knowledgeable and only too happy to make recommendations. When he learned we were from VT, he became very animated as he was coming up the following weekend to go skiing for his first time.
From the appetizers to the main dishes, everything was a delight for the taste buds. Between the 4 of us, we had three different entrees and shared around the table. The wine recommendation was perfect and quite a nice house red. Although my son is a winemaker and we have had dozens of different labels, this was a first, having Turkish wine.
Our server was very attentive, but did not hover, nor did he rush us. Service was prompt, the meals were hot and there were lots of "ohs" and "ahs." We had a tiny bit of leftovers to box up.
Desserts were unique to us and another chance to explore and expand our palettes. Sharing is caring and we did a lot of that.
Complimentary sweets went just right with our Turkish tea and coffee to top off the meal.
Turkish Cuisine is on our "must return" list and we hope our young server will have some tales to tell of his first skiing experience. We have already recommended this restaurant to other friends and I sent a thank you to the friend who recommended it to us.
This is a fun, out-of-the-way place with excellent Turkish food. We stopped in by accident one afternoon when it started raining, and we've been back several times since.
Nice place, nice staff, halal and yummy food. Not too far from the time square NY.
We went for our anniversary prior to seeing an 8 PM show on a Saturday. The place was packed leading up to the 7:00 showtimes. We had a reservation, and still had to wait a bit, because the quality is good and the space is small. The waitstaff, though few, are hard-working, friendly and attentive. The food is very good. I thought that the falafel appetizer was good but lacking a bit of flavor. The lamb entrees--we tried several--were all very tasty. We recommend Turkish Cuisine if you are looking for Mediterranean food in Hell's Kitchen.
Menu Changed with different dishes that weren't very good and increased costs.
Intimate unpretentious little gem. Good food, friendly service. A nice find.
As always, this is our go to pre-theatre dinner place. Everything is always delicious. The kebabs are soooo good!
Great place to come for dinner before the theater. Well prepared food.
So good! To me zucchini pancakes are the 'test' of a Turkish restaurant the same way a good egg roll is the test of a good Chinese restaurant. Fabulous zucchini pancakes. Soft inside. Crunchy outside. Wonderful eggplant dish. Fresh salad. Not in my neighborhood but worth the subway ride to get there and it is close to the theater district.
My friend and I were a little tightly squeezed into a 2 top but this is NY and its kind of expected. The Jalapeño Hummus was Perfectly spicy and the two entrees, a house special lamb roled in phyllo and the Special of the day Kofte were perfectly spiced and cooked!
Great food and ambience
The trifecta in New York
Despite our reservation, they had no table. Tried to set us up at a non-dining table in the rear -- between the manager's area and the restroom. We left without eating.
Nice meal with family, a bit high priced on the desserts.
This restaurant was chosen randomly, but I was so pleased with my experience I went back the following day for a post-theater meal. The food was fresh, flavorful and authentic. The service and atmosphere stellar. I will definitely make this as one of my stops on my next trip to NYC.
Awesome service and delicious food.
Always love eating at Turkish Cuisine, the food is amazingly tasteful and full of surprise flavors.
Always lovely food, service and ambience.
This was our second visit for a pre-theater meal. Overall, the food and service were excellent. Even the "no-name" chardonnay was reasonably good. The lamb shish was very tender, properly cooked and delicious. There were two disappointments. The first, to some extent beyond their control, was the outside noise from ambulance and police sirens, which was accentuated by leaving the door open. The more important issue - and completely their fault - is that the lamb chops dinner special, which was extolled by our server, was not available. That was not made known until after they began delivering our starters. The substitute lamb dish was a bit tough but still tasty.
Well prepared, attractively presented, very tasty and warm, friendly service. We the bosses' grandmother's lamb recipe that was outstanding. What more can one want?
Great place for excellent Turkish food. Portions are large.
I have been here many times, it doesn't disappoint, ever. Food is varied and always delicious. I try new things every time I go and I am always happy with choices. Wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. Just a very good place to go before a show or just because you are in the nabe.
Our party of 16 was greeted with open arms and treated as royalty. The appetizer platters were outstanding and the mains included the Bronzino, Lamb, Chicken and Vegetarian dishes which were fresh, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The multiple options served for dessert with the Turkish Coffee topped the evening's meal. I can't think of a better place for us to celebrate our 35th anniversary with friends. I would highly recommend Turkish Cuisine for a truly wonderful authentic NYC culinary experience.
Great value. Like visiting Istanbul in mid-Manhattan.
ALWAYS great food and friendly service. Highly recommended.
I've visited here several times and have been delighted with the food. It is fresh & deliciously prepared. Well worth a visit!
Outstanding Turkish Cuisine in this cozy restaurant. Also allow a modest BYOB corkage fee of only $15 bottle. Will make this a go to when in town.
Excellent every time!
Turkish food was good. Fish was over cooked
