Turf Terrace at Santa Anita Park
I would recommend to anyone. Enjoyable to be seated outside, enjoy the view and non-hurried atmosphere
it took servers about 45 min to get to my table and the restaurant was not even half full .... terrible service
The service was great! It was very quiet due to the protesters and the final day of the season.
More service personnel. Order time to table time was horrible wait time .
Always great at the track!
I am a trainer at Santa Anita and have spent many afternoons in the turf club. I never get tired of it. The setting is so beautiful with San Gabriel Mountains in the background. The food and service were superb.
Made reservations weeks in advance but got a bad table. Every time I eat here I spend in excess of $300 but get inconsistent tables. Maybe not worth coming here and just waiting for Del Mar.
The Turf Terrace is our favorite place to be when we go to Santa Anita. Yes, the seats can sometimes feel tight, but I still find them better than box seats. It's a comfortable way to spend an afternoon with friends.
The location of our table was excellent, the service was great. Jimmy even checked with us at the end of the day to be sure we had a great time.....how good it that!
To be honest the only thing good about this place was the ambiance. They didn't know how to seat people, they kept having to move our table to fit people next to us and shifting the rows. Our food was practically cold and just had the texture of it just sitting there. You can hear the staff yelling at each other from the distance. Seriously.. save your money and spend it on somewhere worth your time and money.
I was extremely disappointed with my Mother's Day event. They crammed us into a table that would not fit the 6 that I made a reservation for. Then they tried to turn the tables to make us fit, which then put us at two separate tables. That was not my reservation or plan to sit apart. Then they tried to make all the other tables moved down to make room for the chairs to fit, instead of just moving us to another open table which there were plenty. They did move another family who complained, but I guess I didn't complain loud enough. The service took forever to take our order, they forgot to bring our drinks for a good half hour, then apologized and didn't charge us for the drinks. Once most people left, we were able to spread out and breathe. We couldn't see the field, had to stand to watch the races. We were at table 136. I would never reverse this table again. The meals are overly price, and the view was horrible. I rather eat a hotdog, and have a comfortable seat to see the races if I really wanted to return. I left extremely frustrated, hungry, and disappointed!
Our waiter was Victor. He was great! Out bus boy was, I think, Jose. He was so helpful and courteous. My family has been going to Santa Anita for Mother's Day for a few years now. We all look forward to it. It never disappoints!
Jimmy and Staff make it a Great restaurant! Thank you again.
I enjoy Turf Terrace, the food, the service and especially the scenery. However, in future I will not book a table there through Open Table. We had a very bad location. The tables were pushed together way to close. Even the wait staff had problems maneuvering. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. It's my opinion Turf Terrace treats Open Table reservations 2nd class.
This is a fantastic way to enjoy a day at the track! The food is really good and the service is fantastic! HIghly recommended! We like to order and share several different things throughout the day. The calamari is excellent! Also recommend the lobster rolls, beef dip sandwich and mussels!
Great service, but menu was limited and with much fewer choices. Best reuben sandwich in LA is no longer on the menu and I really miss it!
It was awesome!
Horse races with friends and families! The long shots came in. Won money, our server Catherine was fantastic, and fun was had by ALL!
Loved this whole day! Food exceeded expectations and was served at perfect temperature! The short rib and eggs/lobster sliders and claim were spectacular. Can’t wait to go back!
Was a great day, beautiful racetrack, beautiful horses and beautiful day.
You would think for the money the food would be better quality. Especially, since you spend an extra $10 per person to eat there. Not much value.
Husbands 50 birthday
It is great to visit a place that holds so much tradition as Santa Anita Racetrack does. It is even greater to see so many other families enjoying a day at the racetrack. Perhaps one of the best things about this Racetrack is its restaurant. Not only is the food excellent, but the service is always the best. I am a bit disappointed though that the shrimp and grits is no longer on the menu, it was one of my favorites.
Best place to eat and watch live racing at Santa Anita Racetrack. Food is great and reasonably priced, although wines-by-the-glass are a bit overpriced. Service from Freddie and his associate was beyond belief, as both were on top of things for all 6 hours that we were there.
Very enjoyable Hector was helpful attentive and friendly.
Great seating on the finish line.
Easy access to paddock with escalators
Makes for a grat racing day
Close to bathrooms and betting windows
Comfortable chairs at the tables
Close to valet parking
Outstanding service. Loved the food. Fantastic view. Going back next Saturday !
Best way to see the thoroughbreds run. Jimmy is the best matre de in town and Roy has been there as long as I have been going to the races. Great food, great place to spend the day outdoors chatting with friends, handicapping the ponies and watching great racing.
Our server was Kathy and she was do delightful. Actually everyone was kind-valet, cashier, person selling programs, person at check in desk at Turf Terrace, gentlemen that show us to the table and the servers assisting Kathy.
Thank you so much. Another perfect time.
Loved the ponies and the overall experience , the food was good but the ran out of chowder. All things considered it was a great da!
The issue with the Turf Terrace and Open Table is booking. On OT you can book for various times during the day. HOWEVER, you must show up to the Turf Terrace before the first post (first race) or else they will give your table away. I was unaware of this until after booking. So, I called before the first post and told them I was still coming for my reservation. They informed me that if I wasn't there at first post they would give my table away. Luckily, this was a Friday and it was dead so I still got a table. I think for a place that requires a CC to hold a reservation with a $10 per person fee for no shows this system makes very, very little sense. Otherwise, its a fun way to spend an afternoon. Food is nothing spectacular, but its tasty.
We went on a Friday so it wasn't crowded. The view was perfect and I liked the fact that we could sit at our table the whole afternoon. Service was good, the food was good but not great. Bread was $2 for 2 tiny rolls and 2 crackers. The menu is limited in choice. We had children with us and there was no kids menu and the soft drinks were over priced. The tables were spotless and clean and our overall experience was good. We had a great day!!
Always enjoy going to the track and sitting in the turf terrace restaurant...good service good food and the races are always fun....
Day out with the family
Excellent seating and ambiance. Our friends completely enjoyed their first experience at the Turf Club.
It’s tons of fun to watch the races as you eat. Every seat is a good seat. The menu was redone about a year ago, and there are really great choices now. Only problem (happens every time I’m there) is trying to flag down your server if you need anything, especially the bill at the end of the day.
This is a great experience for a day at the races! Good food, good service and the best location for
seeing the races. I always go to the Turf Terrace!
Love Santa Anita! The Terrace is a great place to relax and watch the Races. We expect to pay a lot for mediocre food because we get the great seats and usually attentive service. The food is expensive and the flavors are usually average.
This trip was about like that except the servers seemed very stretched out. We had two Cobb salads, one with Salmon. They were ok, not great. Portions good. Flavors, blah.
We had French Toast and it was weak: cold thick bread with little flavor and syrup tasted like fake maple. Server promised to bring us honey and never returned.
We had three desserts, The Bread pudding was excellent. The others, a Pumpkin Custard thing, didn't taste much like pumpkin and in the Apple Strudel the pastry was very tough.
We wish them well because we love visiting a few time a year.
My reservation was for 10, we were celebrating a few birthdays, I was a bit disappointed though when, our party was split because the tables only sat 6, this was not mentioned to me at the time of my reservation nor was it suggested to me that, we consider another location for larger groups. Otherwise our time spent there was nice, thank you.
