We are at Tupelo in Boise and loved it. Took our friends to this one to have a southern meal. Staff seemed rushed, not very friendly. Some of the meal was Luke warm at best. We were disappointed!
The waitstaff has changed again and the very young girl we had was not experienced.
A standard when in Asheville. I actually ate Sunday brunch then came back for Monday supper. Wonderful highlights include brunch all day that includes a yummy avocado toast plate, delightful mimosas and bloody marys, creative southern sides with my favorites being the goat cheese grits, collard greens and crispy brussel sprouts, and my favorite main is the meatloaf.
Good, as always. Sunday lunch is very busy so we sat at the bar. The at the south location lacks some of the charm of downtown, but it was a beautiful day and the big doors were open so all was good.
Food was excellent and so was the service! We had to wait an extremely long time for our food to arrive, though.
The food was exceptional but the service was sub-par. We had a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes. The hostess was not accommodating even though there were several tables/options available that could have been swapped around if planned accordingly. Food service was slow; we received our appetizers almost at the same time as our food and had to ask for our check.
We had brunch here with an out of town guest and we almost walked out.
We had reservations and were seated promptly but our food didn’t arrive for 90 minutes. Coffee came late too. Our server, Abigail , told us the kitchen was backed up. So my husbands potatoes were cold and biscuits dry when the food finally did come, my coffee wasn’t heated up until I flagged down another server, and it was just such a long long wait. Abigail said she was suppose to be the hostess but was asked to serve because they were short staffed. She seemed very stressed.
If there was a staffing shortage they should not of seated so many people. Or they could have offered a little compensation for the delay. We won’t be back.
Loved it! Great food and our waitress was the best
We dined outdoors and though the ambience was not as cool/quirky as the downtown location, the food and service was fantastic. The staff was friendly and very prompt. The meatloaf with chorizo blended in with the beef was the best I've ever had. My wife is not fond of meatloaf but she loved it too, kept eating it off my plate. If you are looking for the excellent food and experience you get from Tupelo Honey, but desire to avoid the parking challenges and congestion of downtown, I would highly recommend the South Asheville location.
Love Tupelo Honey but the menu is totally different and prices are way up. The sweet potato pancakes that used to be my fav has a different flavor and some items are no longer on the menu.
I loved the atmosphere downtown but parking is bad so South Asheville is much better for that.
Our server was amazing and the food was fabulous- the best grits I have ever had!
Busy Friday, server was great. Enjoyed the shrimp and grits my wife had, I got the fried chicken. Menu said it’s brined for 18 hrs before cooking, mine must have been brined in sawdust- very dry. Had not eaten all,day so I finished most of it. Would try the restaurant again, but not such a great meal this time. Selection of apps could stand some improvement.
Reservation was at 7:15, not seated until 7:40! Front was completely lost. Food took way too long, our server was very good and made up for the shortfalls elsewhere.
Karen became out waitress after noticing that we had not been helped. We were not part of her assigned duty, but she stepped in and up to make sure we were accommodated. She was EXCELLENT! Gracious, apologetic, energetic and observant are just a few adjectives that describe her. She saved the day.
The whole dinner experience was great - an attentive waitress, good food and a soothing ambience - Thanks
We have been to the downtown location previously and had a great experience. This visit was less than satisfactory. We were not acknowledged upon arrival. We ordered food and the chicken we came for was out of stock, so I chose the breakfast plate. The sausage was the size, and flavor of a hamburger patty and was not great. The potato crackling were decent, but the skins were burned rather than crispy/flakey. The eggs were burnt as if left on the pan and not stirred at all (scrambled). We both ordered bloody Marys and waited about 15 minutes for them (restaurant was almost empty), neither of which came with a garnish as mentioned on the menu - $10 was far too much for a standard bloody with no garnish. My wife was not impressed with her food either. We did not bring any of this to the attention of the staff because overall, only one of them seemed to care at all about what was going on inside the business. This was not by any means a cheap visit, but the food was the worst we had during our vacation in Asheville.
Service was slow but that was to be expected. We had a great time as usual.
Arrived at 645 on a Wed night for a 7 o’clock reservation
Restaurant was 50% full at best. Hostess stated she would seat us closer to our reservation time and text us when our table was ready. 7 pm comes and goes no text…approach hostess table and we are immediately seated. Waitress stated they were out of 3 main dish items and 3 sides.
Orders fried chicken, their specialty, they were out of bone in chicken and basically served chicken strips. These were horrible. Way too much breading and very little chicken.
Should have left and saved our money.
Seated outside. Server was great. Food was OK but presentation so-so. They ran out of green beans. So in the end didn’t get the food that we ordered. Grits had a strange taste to them.
It’s hard for me to write a fair review because they were out of many entrees, including the two bowls I considered and even the fried chicken my husband ordered. We heard them tell another individual that a fourth order was unavailable. I don’t know if they’re having delivery problems but the whole evening was just ok. The bright points were good drinks and fabulous personnel, including the hostess and all wait staff and servers.
Very disappointing. Billed as one of best local restaurants. Vegetable plate - Brussels way overcooked; Mac n cheese dry and cold; greens way over-seasoned. Chicken and waffles came out as just fried chicken, then as two over-cooked chicken tenders, drowning in Sirachi. I like spicy, but couldn’t eat this. Fried pickles and Tupelo Honey Ale we’re good.
Friends from HS came in town
All went well after we were finally seated which took 15 minutes as the reception was unorganized and unstaffed. My partner really enjoyed her salad and my chicken sandwich was good but noting out of the ordinary.
We made reservations but arrive 15 minutes early. Many empty tables and booths but still couldn’t get seated. Many people walked in after us as we sat outside waiting. Finally had to ask what the point of making reservations is.?
Took a while to order, get refills, ketchup( our bottle was empty) and various other items.
Would like to visit again since the food was delicious but not sure about the “open table” idea.
Too pricey for quality and small portions. Limited menu.
Bartender and the food were fabulous! We were late due to traffic and had to sit at the bar of which he was wonderful!
Food was outstanding and the service was great!
Enjoyed the meal but the restaurant was out of some things that we wanted to order.
Great food and excellent service are the hallmarks of this out of the way restaurant. Our waiter, Jack, was friendly, informative and extremely efficient. The service was outstanding. Our meals were well prepared and delicious. An excellent choice when visiting Asheville.
Spot-on recommendations from delightful server Isabelle. Luscious meatloaf and fried chicken. Brussels and potato cracklings are the best.
Tupelo Honey is by far a top notch restaurant with great ambiance and southern flair. The Manager. Kyle provides excellent customer service and walks around speaking with patrons and getting to know community. My hostess Marrissa was fun and professional. Food was hot and they give you plenty! I had to wait for to go order and Manager gave me an appetizer on the house...I did not complain..He did it because he knows customer service. I love Tupelo Honey South Asheville!
Food was cold. After sending it back it was served cold again. Service slow.
The restaurant is so well organized and the staff are so friendly and efficient, even with being understaffed you would never know it.
Waiter was really helpful but it took too long to get the food. Restroom was filthy and that’s really big with me. All staff were courteous and polite.
I am normally not one to share my experiences, but didn’t want others to have the same. We made reservations at 11:45-arrived at 11:45. We were told they were running 15-20 behind and would text us when it was ready… no big deal. We waited 40 minutes and went back to ask about our reservation and we were told they accidentally set another table thinking it was us… who knows how long we would’ve waited if I had not gone in. We get seated, I ordered bone in chicken… waited forever and a manager finally came out to tell us they didn’t have the bone in chicken ready and offered boneless. I took the boneless, which wasn’t a big deal but was frustrating considering what we had already been through. We waited an ENTIRE HOUR for our food. Spent a total of 2 hours at the restaurant. Our waitress, Lexi was great - she was sweet and I know nothing was her fault. Food was okay. The restaurant felt like absolutely nothing was running smooth during a Sunday brunch. It was just one thing after another… Needless to say, I doubt we will be back.
Unfortunately the service was very slow. There was not enough silverware, glasses, or a coffee. We went in with a 1130 reservation and it took almost 2 hours to get everything and eat. The food was really good and I understand that many restaurants are shorthanded.
Special event that was not recognized like it used to be. Extra charge for a biscuit. Out of avocado paste so could not prepare items ordered, but had chopped avocado. Food was fair, but not special. Felt additional charge for a biscuit was excessive (4.50). Nothing on this menu for brunch that could not have easily been made at home.
Eggs were over cooked. Sat by a door
Went there on a friends recommendation. We were very delighted by the staff, food, and atmosphere.
Decent food, good if somewhat harried service, generic ambiance, underwhelming cocktails. Wish I could give a better review, but it felt quite generic and not very rooted in southern cuisine.
