Fried Green Tomatoes
Much improved over last visit. Food was good, our server was knowledgeable & quick
We loved our experience at Tupelo Honey in S. AVL. Jamie greeted us with a warm smile, plenty of coffee refills, and friendly conversation. She's awesome! The food was incredible. The avocado toast w/ eggs was my absolute favorite dish and I tried my husband's blueberry pancakes. They were delicious. The overall vibe of the staff is friendly and warm. Highly recommend!!
It's been years since we visited the original location and am sad to say this was disappointing. Seems like by expanding, they've lowered the caliber of the food and service. This felt much more like an average neighborhood chain restaurant than the innovative, classy experience we enjoyed before.
Last minute reservation got us in at this popular restaurant! So glad we had the opportunity to enjoy it! Definitely recommend the fried pickles as an app and shrimp&grits for dinner! ❤️
The hostess quickly accommodated a two person increase in our party. Food was good, but inconsistent in cooking. Some fried green tomatoes were overdone and some not. Some biscuits overly dry, some not. BUT it was late in the evening and they were busy. Overall good. Everyone should try it at least once or twice.
All the food came at one time salad, main course, etc. It is very southern cooking, fried, gravy, spicy, not really my favorite. The main course we wanted was out, plus a number of wines and no wheat beer, which on-line they said they had. Overall not the best experience. The waiter was very good.
My wife and I had a perfect experience here! We were staying in downtown Asheville and tried to go to the downtown Tupelo location, but the line to get in was wrapped around the block. We decided to drive out to the south Asheville location and it was perfect!
There were a mishap with my food, but our server was incredibly sweet and she had the kitchen fix it right away. We had very good service and I would recommend the restaurant to anyone who love some fried chicken.
We always enjoy dining here. Friendly considerate staff who have to be extra helpful given the Q code menu and beer selection. Food was fresh and tasty; it can be spicy and next time we will address that upfront. Portions have clearly shrunk while price has remained the same. We usually were able to take home some for leftover lunch. Not anymore.
food was good but not great, service was very good
Super disappointed that they have taken away the biscuits and you now need to buy them as an appetizer. Also, the appetizer which comes with only 2 biscuits is very expensive for biscuits that used to be free. And where is the honey? It is Tupelo Honey’s right???
I feel like this restaurant has changed too much from what it originally was. Used to be awesome but now ok at best. What a shame.
I keep trying to give Tupelo South a chance but it never quite measures up. Service was slow ( new employee though), checks were all wrong. Food was good but slow to arrive.
Loved the new bowls. Glad we could make a reservation. Friendly professional staff
The food and service were great. Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had.
There was no ramp so my 94 year old Grandmother. She had to climb an 8" curb with her walker to get inside. We were sat quickly and took drink orders. Drinks came quickly and food order taken. Food arrived quickly and was nice and hot. Great food, friendly staff and laid back atmosphere.
Fried green tomatoes, brussel sprouts, collards with bacon, fried chicken and biscuits...can't get more southern than that!
Authentic down south food prepared perfectly.
Great place to have fried chicken.
Our server had a wonderful, warm personality and was great with our questions. Just perfect!
Food was great but had to wait an hour for my meal. Friendlier staff would be appreciated as well
Stella is stellar! Great service, fun to talk with, good food.
Good service and food very casual. We enjoyed sitting outside.
Our food was exceptional! The service was excellent! Best pancakes EVER!!
Great service from Alyssa, awesome actually, and food.
Very disappointed in the banana pudding. Very small serving and too expensive
Went there for mother's Day brunch. The service was awesome, the food was excellent, and the dining area was roomy and bright. Planning to go back there in the future.
Service was fantastic!
Difficult to get in via OpenTable reservation system. However, when we were there, there were at least seven tables set up for service (and socially distanced) that were not occupied during the entire duration of our meal (approximately one hour). I assume that there is some type of disconnection between OpenTable's reservation system and the front maître d'. However, our food was great and would highly recommend this Asheville institution, even this non-city center location over the original downtown location if one cannot get a reservation there.
The food, atmosphere and service was excellent! I got the cast iron pork, peach salsa (which was out of this world good!) and collards. We also really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Loved it and will be back!
Super place with modern decor and a “hip” vibe
Barman Thomas was great.
Food is Southern, everything fried but very tasty
Server was fabulous. Very attentive and responsive...and polite and friendly. We were just a little disappointed in the food quality as it's clearly not as good as the downtown location. Still grateful to be able to get a party of 10 in on a Saturday night! Just try and work on the freshness and get the food to the downtown level.
It was very loud inside the restaurant. The way it use to be decorated really helped keep the noise down. Our server was great and so was the food
Food was SO good. Top 5 meals I’ve ever had.
We had a wonderful time at this Tupelo Honey. I had reservations for a party of 6 outside and we barely had to wait. Service was wonderful and so was the food. We loved the patio as well. I would go here again for sure!!
The Mac and cheese waffles with Asheville hot chicken are incredible
Food was ok nothing special
We were quite disappointed in the menu changes.
NO FRIED OKRA?!
NO TOMATO SOUP?!
The menu looked like I had gone to the wrong restaurant.
Great food. Servers wearing masks inside. We choose to eat on the terrace. Great you can make reservations to sit outside.
Fried green tomatoes excellent. Mac and cheese had been sitting too long and had separated out. Brussel sprouts were amazing. Good table distancing. Excellent wait staff.
Mother’s Day with family!
