We were visiting Asheville from Denver and visited here, have not been to the one in Denver yet. Food was great, especially the fried green tomatoes. Service was great and the Manager on duty (Female was awesome).
Decided last minute to stop into Tupelo Honey for dinner with the family. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and atmosphere. They even had a play area on the patio for kids so parents could dine while the kids play steps from their table. My only disappointment were the biscuits they serve. I’ve had better. Overall though the food was good. Check it out on your next trip to Asheville!
Excellent food, wonderful server. We all had lunch special and everything was delicious.
We weren't too pleased with our most recent dinner here. To begin with, the renovated dining room makes it look more like a Denny's or Bob Evens, giving it a breakfast vibe. Also, the lighting is very bright and we felt awkward sitting there with our Manhattan cocktails. In addition, we weren't crazy about the fried chicken. We ordered the white meat, honey dusted, and the crust had no discernable flavor other than flour. Plus, after 18 hours of brining the chicken was still quite dry. I don't think we'll return.
Really like the remodel of the South Asheville location. Much more pleasant environment.
Great food and service. The meatloaf was delicious. So was the trout.
Most everything was very good. It was just a little strange to still have to wait 10-15 minutes even with a reservation. Also straw paper was in our water.
Brunch was great! Good selection for a large group, food was tasty. Service was great. New decor is bright and up beat. Loved the play area on the patio for kids.
Fathers Day Brunch was as expected slammed with customers. However, our table was ready on time, the service excellent, and our food delicious and as advertised. My only minor complaint was ,the flavor of the Hollandase sauce was not lemony enough. ( my pet peeve ). Well done!
Food was great, drinks were tasty. Be prepared to wait tho- 1045 reservation wasn't seated until 11:20 despite many open tables.
We booked Tupelo Honey (S. Asheville) for Father's Day brunch for a party of seven. It was already hopping by our 10 a.m. reservation. When we made the reservation, we asked to be seated outside which we were, only it was right in the blazing sun, no cover to be had at all. A mere 15 feet away sat three unoccupied four tops, so we asked to be moved. The hostess wasn't friendly and said no, but after 10 minutes in the heat and blinding sun, we convinced them (with our server's help) to move us. (Note: Everyone who showed up after us and were shown to those seats refused and were seated elsewhere--it was that bad.) After that, the meal went smoothly. Our server, Virginia, was simply marvelous: timely, friendly, helpful, and efficient. The food was a mixture of brunch items, most of which were expertly prepared. The sweet potato pancakes were both moist and fluffy; the fried okra was not drenched in grease and were properly crunchy and didn't need the ranch dipping sauce they came with; the biscuits were obviously house made and served with a lovely berry compote; and the hot chicken dip was solid if a bit difficult to eat with the house made chips. We also ordered deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes, but they were out of both already which shouldn't happen so early on a day you know you'll be busy. Of particular note was the shaksuka which was beautifully plated and full of authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. The stand out drinks were the bloody marys which managed to be spicy without overwhelming your palate. Despite the rocky beginning, we had a great experience there and would definitely go back.
Overall great food, wasn’t served at proper temperature, but would go back again
Great food and service. Very open and enlarged. This made it very noisy. My wife wears hearing aids and she was a little uncomfortable because of the noise.
Nice new layout but a little noisy.
Excellent food and service! Will definitely eat here again!
Great Breakfast this am and as always the biscuits are amazing.
This restaurant came highly recommended. The fried chicken did not disappoint. Some of the sides portions seemed small but overall food was very good. I would go back if visiting again.
Good food at a reasonable price. Loved the ribs! The biscuits and jam (plus honey, if you wanted it) were warm, flaky and delicious. Very child-friendly. Everyone enjoyed the experience (and there were some picky eaters in the group.) Waitstaff was very attentive without being overbearing. Good place!
We took six picky eaters with us. They liked the food as they could get fried chicken or fresh trout without having too much spice. The server was thorough in explaining how the chef could adjust each order to satisfy even the most spice sensitive palate. There are many good restaurants closer to our home. We consider the extra time required to get there to be worth it. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It is a little noisy but happy noise.
Murray is awesome! He remembered us from a while back.. great asset to your company!
Very poor management. Restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived and asked for a both near the sliding doors. Would not sit us there and would not say why. Sat at another table and took a while for waiter to come over. Also noticed people coming in waited around 15 minutes when there were plenty of tables available.
Maybe they didn’t have enough staff?
Food was good but took forever to get check and pay.
We had a delicious Sunday brunch at Tupelo Honey South Asheville. I had goat cheese grits with two baked eggs, fresh avocado, and homemade Creole sauce, and it was delicious. The Bloody Maria was a very good cocktail, too, with some kick to it. Ambience is very pleasant, with the old booths taken out and a more open design to the dining room. There is patio seating as well. The restaurant was packed on Sunday--make sure that you make a reservation.
The food and set were wonderful.
The online reservation service was a great help.
Went for a Sunday brunch on my birthday. Arrived just in time for our 11 am reservation and were seated immediately. Staff was friendly, alert and efficient, food was fantastic as usual. The decor is light and airy since the update earlier this year. Decided we have to start coming here more often.
Unfortunately there is a noticeable difference in the food over the last couple months. The shrimp and grits are overwhelmed with the taste of goat cheese along with hit & miss on the quantity of shrimp you receive. The eggs benny hollandaise sauce was cold and the warmed extra requested was clotted. The overall taste was lacking in flavor. This used to be one of my favorite places but with the prices rising and the quality declining, it’s off the favorite list.
Aa always, Tupelo Honey in South Asheville does not disappoint. The friec chicken and avocado sandwich was amazing as well as the buttermilk cheesecake with fresh blueberries. The ambiance is awesome and the staff is professional and attentive.
Wonderful food creative and fresh. Very welcoming of our dog
Fried chicken breast, mac and cheese, collards were good, but not a fan of their signature "honey dusted" chicken, and roasted root veggies were old and soggy. Ambience was better than fast food but certainly not upscale.
We’ve been having great meals at this location every time we’ve visited Asheville for the past five years. For the first time, we felt the quality of the food has declined quite a bit. A disappointment. Good service did not make up for it, unfortunately, and the new decor did not impress. We may give them another try, but not any time soon.
Great food. Excellent service. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Decent food, but not as good as we have come to know of the location back home in TN. They were out of deviled eggs, out of collards, out of other items - at 5:30PM!! Service was good, but not great. We travel to Asheville monthly and will take this one off of the list. Too many other options in Asheville.
It is VERY loud outside as there is a playground area that
Was filled with kids banging blocks and ringing bells. I think they were short staffed so didn’t seat us for 20 min after our res and service was pretty slow after that. Food was pretty good
But sort of pricey
Wasn’t seated until 20 minutes after my reservation time despite plenty of open tables. Slow service.
Tupelo Honey understands the customer. The staff is friendly and engaging, the food is delicious (especially the goat chesse grits and sweet potato pancakes), and the dining experience is always great. Keep up the fine work!
Took 50 minutes to get water and place a drink order after being seated. Resturant was not super busy and other customers had similar issues (a table close to us had to ask for a menu 10 minutes after being seated).
Must have been an off day. Have eaten there before and all was good. Were out of several dishes for our table of four. Replaced one of our guest meals with non requested food. Waiter worked at correcting problems and gave credit for that meal. Also appeared understaffed.
I miss previous intimate, interior of restaurant. I hope to appreciate the new look, soon! I did not receive one of the dishes I ordered, but didn’t realize it until after I left restaurant. Also, the tea is very weak, here. I don’t know if they are not letting bags steep long enough, or not using enough tea bags, but this has been an issue here for a very long time. Sweet and unsweetened tea is a staple here in the South, and must be made appropriately. It’s not hard. Murray is an outstanding long term employee, but some of the other longer term employees seem to be impatient waiting on customers.
Beautiful outdoor patio with shade and lots of seating. Food was some of the best we have had. Worth a visit!
We ate at the bar and the bartender was fantastic! Food was hot and delicious!!
My husband and I were in town for a wedding. I wanted us to have a nice brunch experience on Sunday. I googled brunches in Asheville and this one was highlighted! I could not have been more pleased with our dining experience. We got a heads up when our Huber driver remarked, “ you’re headed for some good eating!” The driver/google were indeed correct. My husband had the breakfast bowl that had black eyed peas, potatoes and other items. He loved it! I combined two of the shrimp dishes, talk about gastronomic pleasure! I topped it off with a Queen Mary ( Bloody Mary with the fixings )! I had to take a doggie bag back to the hotel! Bravo! We shall return!
