Overhyped. Our server was super sweet and the vibe is good but the food isn’t great. We went because it was recommended by a few friends. The goat cheese grits were my favorite thing. Everything else was just ok - the chicken was fine (a lot of the menu was unavailable), the Mac and cheese had no flavor at all and there is no salt and pepper on the table. My drink was also really bad and tasted watered down (sangria). I think there are probably better places to go if you’re in the area.
Shrimp and grits were great and the fried chicken was a bit over cooked. Very friendly service.
We arrived with a 11 am reservation and were seated in a timely manner. Our server came for drink order. After he dropped them off quickly. But then it took a bit for our order to be taken, which we needed to call him over to do so. We waited way to long for our meal. Once again it took asking him where the food was for him to say things were delayed due to a large party. When the food came it was warm but not hot. I have eaten at the Charlotte Tupelo’s before and found that food and experience far better. The host or front of house manager was very nice and apologized after the fact....but felt it was too late.
The food here is so good! Our service took a while but it was packed and I was able to make a reservation quickly...our orders were correct and very delicious!
Some of the best service, food, and attitude I have ever experienced anywhere
Tupelo Honey is certainly not what it used to be. The atmosphere was very plain and unsophisticated - very unlike the College St restaurant. Relative to food, my wife and I were underwhelmed with the menu and the food quality was very poor - in fact, we both left with upset stomachs due to the food. Do not plan to return.
I’d been here before when traveling and was looking forward to this meal. First, the waiter came back after taking our order to inform me they were out of the trout I ordered. Then I ordered the salmon medium rare which was delivered well done. My friend’s fried chicken was overdone and dried out. The waiter was kind enough to give us a free dessert to make up the disappointment.
The charming interior I remembered is gone in the sleak redecoration that opened up the entire restaurant to one large room.
Our waiter was the only staff to interact with us in a friendly unhurried manner. Despite his professional efficiency, he was pleasant. I can’t say the same for the hostess who only seemed to connect with her iPad—not even noticing when anyone left to thank them.
Very nice meal - the service was excellent the food was quick to be brought out and plentiful and the overall dining experience was very pleasant.
I usually have a good experience at Tupelo Honey, but with my current dietary restraints, I was not satisfied with my choices.
Had high hopes based on ratings that this was going to be amazing. Sadly the biggest let down was the food. The wait staff was lovely, and the ambiance was ok - the lighting was a bit too bright for evening dining. The chicken and sweet potato pancake dish I got was ok, the chicken was quite dry. The sangria and Moscow mule our table ordered were watery and lacked flavors. My companions chimichurri chicken was also dry. We finished with a slice of pecan pie that also missed the mark.
Food was very good. The renovation was a bit too "hip" and sterile, and lighting was way too bright. The overall restaurant look felt "cold" and lost its overall ambiance.
This location definitely does not have a dinner vibe we tried to visit the downtown location and ended up here when I was able to make a reservation (now I know why). The food was not what I’ve had previously at Tupelo, Was totally disappointed and the prices were $$$ for what u get. Sorry Tupelo I was really looking forward to the dinner!
Three of us went for breakfast and with tip it was $50. No alcohol or sodas involved. While the food was on par with other breakfast places, it wasn't anything special and way overpriced.
We always take our family and friend visitors to Tupelo Honey and enjoy going to the south asheville location for the parking and not dealing with downtown. Everything is great except tonight the food took awhile longer and they ran out of white fried chicken and if we wanted it we would have had to wait another 20 minutes. It was a Saturday night so they were busy but overall the food took longer and our visitor didn’t get the fried chicken she wanted because she didn’t want us to have to wait even longer. The server was fantastic regardless and our iced teas never got below 3/4ths full. She was a sweetheart!
This was our first time at this location, but I was pleased to find out the food and service was just as excellent as what we've experienced at the downtown Asheville location. Bennett could not have been a better service. Food was delicious, and very reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back!
Amazing! We were first timers. Server gave great suggestions! Everything was great - Burgers, french toast, old school breakfast bowl, apple cider mimosas, those amazing biscuits with the blueberry jam... can’t wait to go back!! The outdoor seating was awesome, and the play area for kids saved us!
Outstanding! Creative dishes and great atmosphere. Really enjoyed everything about this place!
On vacation in Asheville and checked with my foodie friends in FL, who told me to stop at Tupelo. We were able to sit out side in perfect 68° weather. The service was quick, we were able to catch happy hour and drinks were good. Service was quick and efficient and the food was so good. I’d definitely recommend you give it a try.
Good southern food.
Can’t say enough fantastic things about this place. Food was on extremely on point (got the deviled eggs, veggie app, meatloaf, and ribs), the servers were so friendly, and ambiance was charming. They also catered to our giant fur babies with their dog food menu better than any other restaurant we’ve been to previously (even the chef came out to say “hi”!). Our bill was only $60 when it was all said and done, which was a steal considering the quality of the food and everything else ⬆️. We’ll definitely be back the next time our travels take us through Asheville - and will be recommending it to everyone we know in the meantime!
Excellent food as always and top-notch service. Server was attentive, not intrusive and helped us feel relaxed on this Sunday brunch. Great trip.
We loved creating our own breakfast. Tupelo is one of our favorite places.
Good was cold, took 20 minutes for our orange juice. Portions are way smaller then last time, also more expensive. Biscuits are way smaller then last time too. Tupelo honey used to be my favorite restaurant but way too disappointing in everything to ever go back again. Perhaps all your locations are not the same. Maybe focus on food quality and quantity instead of remodels.
Great experience and food! One thing to note - don’t let your children play in the green space outside. We watched 2 different people allow their dogs to do their business on it. It’s clearly meant for kids, but they didn’t care.
Our food was fresh and delicious! Our server was so friendly and very efficient! We went early, for breakfast and everything was pretty close to perfect! I would highly recommend Tupelo Honey! There is usually a huge crowd, so make reservations, but, if you don’t, it is worth the wait!
Georgi was the perfect server! So kind, friendly, quick. We were in a hurry to get on the road home, and our order came out super fast ( bone in fried chicken). Food was great, bee dust was nice and lightly applied. My husband's chicken was not as temperature hot as mine. But mine was great. Thank you Georgi! Way to go. We will be back.
So it was Very Noisy, I could barely hear my husband as the seating was very close to 2 other tables. We were seated on the long bench with multiple tables. Definitely table spacing had gone a little crazy as we had to move our table over for people to exit their seats mid meal.
Unfortunately our Waitress also got triple sat on our arrival and you could tell she was a bit overwhelmed, which was understandable. I also don’t blame her for being triple sat, that’s something the hostess would need to accommodate better, even offer to get waters or something. Our Waitress did not have much knowledge of the beer and alcohol menu, we asked the available beers & ciders as they rotate, and she could not give us details. She did not go get clarification, after giving us more time to “look” at the menu. As a former waitress I totally get the stress she was under, I told her it was all good and just take a breath, she loosened up some then.
So service was not a terrible loss, the wait time for our food seemed rather long. And when you wait for awhile you expect great quality food to arrive. But I would say the food was okay, but man the Peppercorns were on everything. I’m not a huge pepper fan in general but even the husband said it was too much to handle. I will gladly wait longer to have a perfect meal, but for us it fell short.
Overall I was disappointed with visit, I had high hopes for this place.
Outstanding meal- the Bourbon glazed meatloaf with mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese was to die for! Always a great meal here!
Visiting Asheville and a friend told me to eat here. We were pleased. They have a great menu selection, and the biscuits they bring you before the meal were very good. I would definitely eat here again.
Our waitress Georgie was outstanding. There were 4 of us had Southern Chicken BLT and Meatloafs. Food was good but pricey.
Delicious food, excellent service! I’m becoming a frequent patron of this location! Murray is my favorite server, but the entire staff does an outstanding job. Whoever is in the kitchen KNOWS food! Each dish is an explosion of flavors!
Too noisy. Busy and service was sporadic. Food was good but on expensive side. Definitely a younger crowd and staff.
The menu promotes their chicken and I was not disappointed. We were delighted we had a choice of dark or white meat, and the sweet sauce was delicious.
I was disappointed that so many items on the menu were spicy.
I was disappointed that the balsamic vinaigrette had no oil to balance the sharp acridity.
I was disappointed that the replacement blue cheese salad dressing was simply ranch dressing to which some blue cheese had been added.
The wallpaper is eye-popping crazy-making and the outdoor patio is loud.
Good food, pleasant environment. Interesting food choices.
Having been there in the past, we feel that this place has changed and gone down instead of up according to our taste.
During our lunch the dining room hosted a birthday party for 12 noisey irritating 2 olds.
We went on a Tuesday evening around 6:30pm. It wasn't too crowded and was very quiet with a pleasant atmosphere. We sat outside on the veranda which was also quite nice weather-wise. We chose the South location vs. the downtown Asheville location because it is much easier & free to park. The crispy brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes were to die for! Vegetarian and gluten-free friendly. Highly recommend!
Had a great experience at the South Asheville location. We brought our two labs and as the waitress approached us she was ready with a dog bowl of water! Food was amazing and service was great! Would go back again anytime in Asheville.
Booth are too tight
This was our first time visiting Asheville (in town for a wedding) and saw the recommendations of Tupelo Honey. We made it out on a Friday night. Seated right away - food selections were tremendous. After ordering - our food was presented fairly quickly. Service staff were very nice to us. We liked dinner so much we came back for brunch that following Sunday. Next time we visit - this will be a must stop!
