I had dined at Tupelo Honey in Asheville in the past, and remembered delicious, creative food with great service and a warm atmosphere. I wanted to share that ambience with my family (husband and three sons in early 20s). We reserved a table for my birthday on a Sunday evening at 5:30, and were looking forward to our meal. Perhaps because of the shortage of food service workers and people still staying home vs. going out, we found the restaurant oddly vacant and quiet. It could have been nice that way, but instead it just felt sad. Our waiter was excellent and the staff we encountered was friendly, but the vibe was just not there. We waited a long while for our food, which seemed odd considering the lack of patrons in the restaurant. Portions were huge, so we had enough to fill to-go boxes for another meal at home later. My family just wasn’t as thrilled with the experience as I had been in the past, so I felt bad that I had bragged so much on Tupelo Honey and they were disappointed. Their take on it was that it was “an overpriced Cracker Barrel.” Gee. I’m sorry, Tupelo Honey. I will try you again when the world is a happier place.
Tupelo was very over crowded and under staffed. Wasn't like all the other times I have visited
We had a 4pm reservation and we’re seated immediately.
Our Server was okay nothing special. This was our 1st visit to this location. ZERO sense of urgency.
Food: Bisquits were cold. Macaroni was disgusting. Fries were cold. Fried Chicken was only good part of our meal. Very tasty and hot chicken as it should be!
In terms of value I think it’s a rip off that you charge for sides. Make that part of the meal.
We did drink at the Bar before our reservation and your Bartenders were friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our drinks and conversation with them.
I was shocked. People rave about this place but my husband and I did not enjoy our time. The food was terrible, we got Brussels sprouts (the crisp is definitely there but they did not season or sauce them up AT ALL, super bland and gross). Husband got the meatloaf- the potatoes were seasoned weird and the meatloaf was SUPER salty. I got the Sriracha fried chicken and waffles. The spice was very prevalent and the fried chicken was alright, but the waffle was flavorless and to me it was a little too spicy to the point where you can’t really enjoy the meal cause it’s burning inside your mouth and your sweating (and I enjoy spicy food). Also our server was terrible and kept forgetting stuff and didn’t know any answers to questions we had and would say “I can ask someone inside and let you know” to everything. She never checked on us and how the meal was going. She forgot to put in our drink orders at the bar so we canceled. Very poor and slow service for a terrible food experience. The ambience is definitely there. Maybe they just had a bad day and their food seasoning and chefs were off? Idk, but I was super disappointed. Maybe they’re known for their brunch menu, but definitely won’t be going there again for dinner…ever. I hope you guys had a better experience but made our date night kinda sucky. I hate to make bad reviews, and I don’t ever do reviews, but I guess I had high expectations from people raving that the disappointment was that much greater.
Sriracha honey chicken is always good!
I really enjoyed visiting Tupelo Honey for the first time. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Sunday Brunch ~~ food was presented well and taste good.
The food wasn’t good at all. The shrimp and grits where flavorless. The hot chicken and waffles was okay the chicken a little over cooked. The drinks where expensive and did not have much alcohol in them. I was very disappointed for my first visit.
This was my first time at this restaurant. I'll recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.
The food was not good, the only thing I liked was the Mac and cheese. I got so sick when I got home and my family did too. The service was horrible! I would never return. The only plus was the prices.
We visited on a Saturday night and social distancing was in effect with all waitstaff wearing masks. The food was delicious and served promptly. The wine list was short but all varietals were offered. Be sure to ask for water when ordering. We'll be back!
Very accommodating. The best server ever BRITTANY
The food and ambiance were wonderful. But why couldn’t the staff wear MASKS!!!
Love it for brunch, would highly recommend.
Food was delicious as always. We had two friends with me visiting from out of town. They loved it as well.
Had the Shoo Mercy griddle with eggs (my favorite). Eggs were overcooked but still good.
I recommend the Brussel sprouts as an app. Potato cracklins are excellent as well. they so good, I though they had bacon on them. They don't.
I had a great time. The food and cocktail was very tasty. The staff were really nice.
Arrived and was told 30 minute wait for seating on patio, even though 6 empty tables. I was told they were being held for people with reservations that were arriving any minute. I went to Opentable and booked a table for 5 minutes later and was immediately seated. Food was mediocre at best, nothing seemed fresh.
My husband and I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. However our waitress wasn’t very attentive and we had a hard time getting her back to the table. We had to keep asking for drink refills and by the time she finally came back to the table, it was too late for us to order desserts to go or so she said.
We ordered the biscuits for appetizer and it was delicious! I was happy with what I ordered, Shrimp and Grits. Our waiter was pretty attentive and informative.. i personally will come again
Poor customer service! The servers maybe overworked but we went at 11:30am.. we could be treated better than that.
Birthday brunch - it was not acknowledged. Our server had zero sense of urgency.
Delicious. The best Brussels sprouts.
Unfortunately my experience was not the best. The server was slow and the food was not the best. The biscuits were dry and the fish tacos were dry as well. The cobb salad was ok but hard to mess up a salad. Forgot to mention they were out of straws. Probably not the biggest of issues but when you hate drinking directly out of cups in public restaurants it’s a big deal. Not that I would never come back but it’s certainly not on the top of my list.
This used to be my go to place for brunch but yesterday I was a little disappointed. No straws, no waffles ...hmmm and portions seemed smaller. Not a bad brunch, but not the best experience yesterday.
It was just awful … the waffles were edible … that was it !!!
A waste of $136 for 6 ppl!!! Drinks very over priced !!
Loved it! Thanks!
I first experienced Tupelo Honey Cafe in Nashville. Had a great meal and awesome service. So, I was happy to find out there was a location in the Atlanta Metro area. I have to say I will not be coming back anytime soon. I brought my family here for brunch and I was pretty disappointed all around.
I felt like our server was not attentive or just unorganized. Perhaps it was because she was working inside and outside? I don’t know. She started off awesome. Then it took forever to get our coffee and when it came, it was luke warm. Maybe that was not her fault… but how is coffee not piping hot at breakfast time? Next we had to basically ask for everything and wait a long time to get it OR we just got it ourselves. No one noticed that we just poured our own coffee refills, found our own salt and pepper shakers, etc. I just feel like if you are waiting tables and if you’ve ever eaten out yourself you would kinda know or look out for these things. I can’t even say it was busy when we had breakfast, because it was not. She did check on us, but it was always after we had waited a long time to ask her for something, so we had already gotten it ourselves.
The next issue was the expo person is sending out food that you know is not up to par. The waffle I ordered was burnt. If your job is to make sure food is of good quality, then why would you send it out to a customer? And why would a server also not see this issue? I also feel like our food may have just been sitting in the window waiting to come out. It just didn’t seem really fresh EXCEPT the fried chicken my husband had.
I know restaurants are short staffed. I know times are hard for businesses, but a little communication can go a long way. If something is not right from the kitchen, don’t send it to the table. I will gladly wait for good food if you just communicate what happened. I’m sure most people will too.
I enjoyed my experience here our server Autumn was good, I tried the pink mimosa which was pretty good and the peach mimosa was decent. I wish they had pitchers though, the food was excellent sweet potato pancakes were wonderful i highly recommend as well as their soy sage. I will return
Good choice for a weekend brunch with amazing service. Reservations are highly recommended because I saw a lot of people waiting to be seated.
I dined at Tupelo Honey on Saturday after a great experience in Myrtle Beach earlier this year. This place was horrible the servers were all over the place, we waited for 50 minutes before receiving food, never received the appetizers we order, and when the food came out it was either undercooked or burned. Just don’t go!
This was probably the worst TH I've been too. The chicken was very small and dry. The waffles were cold and the meal was very forgettable...
Server was not as attentive as he should have been since there was not much customers in the restaurant. Also, my alcoholic beverages were very weak.
Great food and service. Best brussel sprouts ever
Interesting restaurant! Service overall was simple and easy. Reservations are HIGHLY Recommended!!!! Our server was polite and patient.
food are very slow and service is very bad. Have to wait 2 hours for food and wrong dish served. rediculous
I have wanted to eat here for a long time. Chicken was not seasoned, biscuit was barely warm and butter was hard as a rock. My expectations were high based on reviews however missed the mark today.
We were seated at a table next to the where the staff came out of the kitchen. I asked if we could move to one of two empty booths and was told no because they were for reservations. I made a reservation, too. They sat empty for an hour then finally a party was seated at one of the booths. The other one stayed empty. I wish the wait staff would wear face masks. They were out of the fried green tomato app which is what we came for.
Food was amazing! Service not so good. I had to ask for the waitress for our table and still waited another 10 minutes before she came. Make sure you have a reservation. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.
Overall pretty good. It took a little bit of time for our server to introduce herself. I recommend leaving a carafe of water/ coffee on the table if you're short staffed. If you had to be in and out quickly, it might've been a different experience, but the timing was fine for me to catch up with friends visiting from out of town.
We arrived about 15 minutes early. They sat us within 5 minutes. They were very busy. Our waitress came right over and took our drink order. We ordered when she brought our drinks. It was about 25 minutes and our waitress came over with an order of biscuits and jam. She apologized for the long wait and told us the biscuits were on her, because of the long wait. The kitchen obviously couldn't handle the full house. We finally got our food 20 minutes after the biscuits. I ordered their Famous Honey Fried Chicken. I can't figure out why it is famous because it had no seasoning and just a tiny hint of honey. Brussel sprouts were crispy and very good. My husband ordered the meatloaf , collard greens and rosemary, parmesan potatoes. He said that the collards were very good, the meatloaf was just ok and the potatoes were pretty good. Both of our dinners were a lot of food.
