I definitely recommend Tupelo Honey to visitors to Asheville. They have great service and good brunch. Make a reservation for brunch the wait gets really long (like most places in Asheville).
Excellent food! Warm atmosphere. Good time had by all.
Excellent. Great service and very good food. Fun place.
We had a reservation and were seated right away. Service was very friendly and attentive. The fried chicken, shrimp and grits, fried okra, and beet salad were outstanding. The mashed potatoes, collard greens and banana pudding were just OK.
Was just ok.
It was a girls weekend with my daughter-in-law’s and their moms and my sister-in-law and a few of them have never been to Tupelo Honey so it was a very enjoyable treat and I think part of the Asheville experience!
Most amazing dining in Asheville!
Great service, food, and coffee. Our server, Darrell, was fantastic. He had excellent recommendations and was very attentive. We sat outside in a relatively small patio. No heaters, but it was still comfortable in the 50 degree weather with jackets. The food was flavorful- would definitely recommend.
Always a great experience with incredible food with exceptional service!
Friendly and knowledgeable server. Yummy chicken.
Everything was wonderful! My husband and I both had shrimp and grits and pimento cheese dip and would highly recommend both! The grits were absolutely amazing and so creamy!
I wish I had ordered more food to take to go when I left. The food was great.
Brussel sprouts starter amply sized and tasty. Server suggested adding chorizo to the Tupelo Honey shrimp & grits—good tout. Lively, busy place with good food and fun atmosphere.
Only waited 15 minutes for our table . Food great
Traveling from out of town. Exceptional service and quick, delicious, fresh food. Definitely coming back for another visit!
We visited Asheville for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Up to this point, we had been pretty disappointed with the food Asheville had to offer but then we came to Tupelo Honey and it changed everything. our service was great, the food was even better, and the drinks were amazing. We would definitely eat here again.
We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside on a beautiful day. Food was wonderful, make sure to get the chicken!
Tupelo Honey was highly recommended by a friend of mine before our trip to Asheville. I made reservations for a Tuesday night with no issues, but it was still quite busy. The fried Brussels sprouts were delicious, and we devoured the complimentary biscuits. My husband very much enjoyed the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and the goat cheese grits. I had the shoo mercy shrimp and grits, which was so full flavor and comfort. This was overall definitely southern comfort food; and being from Louisiana, this meal was as close to home as we could get in Asheville. We also enjoyed eating on the cozy outdoor patio even though it was slightly chilly outside. Great experience, and I would definitely go back and recommend.
Oh my goodness! This was our first dining experience in Asheville and it was a resounding win. The food, the service and atmosphere was exactly what we expected from a southern restaurant. The craft cocktails, the appetizers, and the main courses were fabulous. Try the fried Brussels sprouts, their version of shrimp and grits, peppered meatloaf and the pork were as good as one would image. Add a homemade biscuit and you are in heaven. Generous portions were gratefully packed up to take home. We had no room for dessert but maybe next time! This should be in everyone’s must do list in Asheville. They are open for breakfast too!!!
Food was ”old world Southern” with a kick. Really enjoyed it all. We ate family style to be able to get the flavor of it all & loved it!
The best fried chicken I’ve had. Love the okra.
Trout was fabulous.
Superb food and service.
They have done a great job reworking the menu Ate at both thier Asheville locations in recent days. Food and service excellent at both. Downtown needs a redecorating boost and could do with some noise abatement, but overall a solid, fun, reliable place. A couple of years ago, I felt they were resting oil thier laurels and not worthy of revisits. No longer the case. They have it going well.
Great dinner !
Good southern food. Excellent selection
Service was great. Very accommodating and kind. Food is exactly what you want when you are going to brunch, but better quality than anywhere else.
It is always outstanding...the food is excellent as is the service.
Enjoyed the southern fare-fried green tomatoes, collard greens, biscuits were great. The grits with goat cheese were some of the best I’ve had. The meatloaf and fried chicken were also winners.Enjoyed the lovely fall evening sitting out on the porch.Would recommend Tupelo Honey to anyone who would like southern cooking with a twist.
We wanted to get a drink while waiting, but we were told we couldn’t so we had to go next door. Food wasn’t as good as last time. Waitress was awesome.
Great dinner but we were very disappointed with the size of our cocktails. My husband is accustomed to a 2 finger pour of scotch & he received 1 finger (with ice!) & my martini glass showed up 3/4 full.. for what they charge, the expectation would be adequate sized cocktails.
Great food and interesting drinks in the heart of town
This is by far the best restaurant in Asheville. Went for both breakfast and lunch! Enjoy
my biggest flaw at the Tupelo was the seating arrangements our table was right out there where all the traffic was and the kitchen was right there (that was my view) so there was a lot of congestion at this particular table and the table were so close you could hear everything being said at the table next to you.
While the restaurant was in incredible demand, we found the service to be unimpressive and the food, while good, not as special as we had expected.
In a night generating long lines to get in, we were told our table was not ready when we got there and we would just need to wait. A message that could have been delivered more politely, was terse. At dinner, many of the items were fried, and were more basic than expected. I had the hanger steak, which was good but not great.
Also frustrating was the suggestion that the banana pudding would be a good item to celebrate a birthday. It was not comped, nor was it all that great compared to others I have had. Wine selection was also not that impressive.
Overall it was an ok to good experience, not the special experience I had hoped for.
Loved the server and his suggestions about the menu. Food was delicious and plentiful!
Wonderful food! Get the fried green tomatoes.
Service was great and the food was amazing! Great drinks too!
We loved our visit to Tupelo Honey. The food was some of the best we had during our stay in Asheville. Service was great. The only downside was that we reserved an outside table on a Friday night, and there’s a community drum circle that takes place almost directly across the street for hours on Friday nights. It’s not Tupelo Honey’s fault, but it definitely makes for a loud evening, especially when the guy starts playing his saxophone just up the street! I would definitely recommend a visit. Just make sure you get a table inside if you’re there on a Friday night.
Really must have the fried chicken, it is a lot of food so consider splitting. If like spicy definitely ask for sriracha honey on or on side. Biscuits are good, make a reservation as the wait can be long on Friday or Saturday without. Banana pudding is fantastic for a finish.
Overall great spot for couple or kids.
Crispy fries chickens. Good service. Outdoor seating was great when weather is warm. Paid street parking. Pricy to eat here.
