Excellent Southern cuisine in Downtown Des Moines. Tupelo Honey is approachable and a great place for a date night, family night, girls night, or anything in between. Delicious food, great service, fun atmosphere. I will be returning!

Very pretty restaurant with a varied menu. Everyone enjoyed the food: chicken blt and Brussels sprouts and roasted potatoes. Yea was served with no ice which was a little odd. Had to ask for a refill. Staff overall friendly and welcoming. Good spot for brunch.

6 of us dined here for dinner. The happy hour menu is good all day M-F with great prices on apps! They were delicious. The siracha honey chicken & waffle was extremely hot. The classic one was good with spice. Loved the fried green tomatoes, the loaded cracklins were yummy too! Birthday treat of the banana pudding & chocolate pecan pie was amazing! Our server was so nice & did a great job.

The food, service, and ambiance were perfect. We didn't feel rushed to eat and the server was super friendly and patient. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because of some pesky flies because of hot weather. Otherwise, it was great. Everyone should eat at this restaurant.

We had reservations at 7:30 and didn’t get a table until 8:10. Not sure what happened but a couple of staff members seemed to be arguing about a variety of things. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic! Food was great. Front of house not so much.

We have been to other Tupelo Honey's in Ashville, NC. When we saw one in Des Moines during RAGBRAI we booked a table for our team. Everyone enjoyed the food.

Second time trying this restaurant more because of its location. Disappointed again with the service. We made a reservation for 3 and were seated upon arrival. Order was taken in a very timely manner. However we sat there for 50 minutes waiting for our food to arrive and had to get it to go as we all had to get to our jobs. Will not try again, will not recommend due to the 2 experiences with the food delivery timing.

We were looking forward to coming to this restaurant again as we have had good experiences. Unfortunately it seems something has happened with staffing and service. We were here for a special occasion that wasn’t even acknowledged. We brought the birthday up three times but no acknowledgement. Service was very slow. Plates were not cleared, drinks were not refilled, no one checked on us during the entire meal. They were out of several items, drinks and food. Overall, the food was good but not good enough to overlook all that was bad. We will not be back.

We like to enjoy a dinner in downtown Des Moines before a Broadway show at the Civic Center. This was our first-time dining at Tupelo Honey. Service was good. Was surprised this place was not as crowded as many other restaurants are when Broadway show's in town. The overall meal was average. Wasn't wowed in any way. Fried green tomatoes were very good. So was the fresh green salad. The brine on the chicken was very, very salty. Was also surprised that the tonic used for gin & tonic was flat. When our waitress brought a replacement, it was also flat. That's not her fault. As a former bartender though, was really surprised those tending bar would allow this to happen after a customer lets them know there's a problem.

Great find on our stay in Des Moines! Easy walk from our hotel & the waitress recommended fabulous dishes! Don't forget to try the cauliflower bites, grits are a MUST, & top it off with the double mini dessert (pecan pie & bread pudding) as good as moms!😋 I hope the restaurant chain comes to Las Vegas NV.

Food is quite tasty and arrived in a reasonable time frame. The coating on the chicken is like a dry rub, pretty tasty, the chicken was moist also. I had the salad as a side, it was fine, I’d like more dressing choices. For the money spent I’m thinking two sides and a biscuit is in order. Service was fine, place was clean. Overall it’s a good place to visit.

Innovative drinks and Southern comfort food. What could go wrong?! Service was attentive and the food was flavorful. The spicy version of the fried chicken might have a heat level perceived as high for most people, but fine for my taste.

Our server was very lackluster. The fried green tomatoes were really good. Hubby had the honey dusted fried chicken and Mac n cheese. Small portion of Mac n cheese and very dry. I had the Chicken BLT. Bacon was tough and chewy. Chicken was good and my fried brussel sprouts were really good. I'd def go back. Maybe try tge potato cracklins next time.

Service was incredibly slow and they weren't that busy. A table that came in after us got their checks before our order was taken. Food was good, but not worth the wait. We overheard another complaining to the server about their experience as well.

Went for brunch on a Sunday. Not super busy. Food was fast and delicious. Waitress was excellent, making sure we had everything. Place was certainly no $$$. Ate for less that 90 for 4 people, with drinks and an appetizer.

Food and drinks are ALWAYS great! I enjoy their non alcoholic craft cocktails too! Service was rushed, entrees came out maybe five min after we got our appetizer, there were two of us and the waitstaff didn’t ask if we wanted it separate or not so we just split it down the middle which was fine but overall not as good of service as what we usually have. Still a great restaurant and will definitely be back soon!

Tupelo Honey has a great ambiance and the service was exceptional, unfortunately I can’t say the same about their food. The cauliflower was rather dry and flavorless all around. My husband got the honey chicken and waffles and it was about the same. The dessert was honestly icky and unappetizing. I hope this was just a one off because it really has so much potential.

Always really good food and service . Only complaint is the noise level is very high . So, if you’re seeking quiet ambience to have a personal conversation, this would not be my first choice . If noise doesn’t bother you, it’s a great place to eat with excellent service .
