This is a very nice looking restaurant. And, the service was really good. The food was yummy, but I would not say it was super special. My friend and I needed GF options, and we didn't really love the GF bread that was available for substitutions - just not very tasty.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The service was terrible. The host was rude all of the wait staff were rude. We basically had to wait the table ourselves being that there were no utensils or straws provided to us. We even had to go on the search for salt and pepper. The food was mediocre. I would stay away from this place.
This place is BUSY during brunch, however we made a reservation and we got in seated in 5min despite everyone at the door. Food was good, I was skeptical of the sweet potato pancakes but they were good! Will come back.
It was a bit noisy but the host was accommodating. After seating us after 20 minutes I had to ask for my complimentary biscuits with the homemade compote. It was tasty but butter would’ve made them better. Anyway I got the banana pudding dream pancakes with fried chicken. The sweet potato pancakes were good not too sweet and the bananas were fresh. The chicken was definitely crispy and freshly fried. Im from Nyc so I will visit again
Servers weren’t taking our plates away and my chicken was burnt.
Awesome menu!!! Unique and food is great! Wish we had one in the Buffalo area!
A good friend was in town for a meeting and we had only the afternoon to catch up. I chose Tupelo Honey online and am SO glad I did. It's a bit out of the way for me but well worth the trip. The food was WONDERFUL! Just enough southern quirkiness to be comfort food, while adding a lot of creative touches to each dish. We LOVED it. I'll definitely go back, perhaps for their brunch the next time.
The suggested side of broccoli grilled was a disaster. It was coated in oil. More than half this side was inedible. I like broccoli sprouts and was looking forward to a tasty dish but was very disappointed. In contrast, both the meatloaf and collard greens were tasty. The hummingbird cake was simply awful. It looked and tasted raw. Our waitress confirmed it was a no-bake dessert. In what universe is hummingbird cake not baked?? Skip this dessert and try the banana pudding which the waitress recommended. The flavors were potent but not overwhelming. Thumbs up on banana pudding!
I went to Tupelo Honey with my boyfriend and his parents for brunch on Sunday 9/8/19. We were a few minutes late for our reservation due to parking issues. We checked in and had to wait ~15 minutes to be seated.
Our server was fine but not particularly attentive nor hospitable.
Our appetizers came out fine, nothing special.
My boyfriend complained to us that his Bloody Mary was particularly sub-par, but that’s his personal opinion. The rest of our mimosas were fine.
Our main dishes were served after waiting about an hour after the appetizers.
1. My boyfriend and I both order burgers and fries. Mine came out on a clean plate, well presented with fries in a cute basket sprinkled with sea salt. My boyfriend’s plate was served with some French fries scattered next to his burger which appeared to have been thrown together. Why were our dishes presented so differently?
2. His plate was dirty with green stuff on it that we could not identify (he had not ordered avocado or anything that could have warranted the mess).
3. When I took the top bun off my burger, there was a small hair visible right in the middle of the onions.
4. My boyfriend’s mom ordered her dish without bacon- there was bacon scattered all over it.
We informed our server that we would not be continuing our meal due to these reasons. He apologized and told us we would not be charged. No manager came over to discuss the issues. We left without eating.
Our entire experience from arrival at 12:10 to our main dishes being served at 1:45 and leaving the restaurant at 1:50 was unsatisfactory and we will not be returning.
The music was quite loud in the dining area which made easy dinner conversation tricky. The (multiple) servers we had were all pleasant, but it was strange to not know who our server was. We waited quite awhile after finishing our meals for our plates to be cleared. The food was fantastic - but the noise level + the fact that the seating was a little odd might keep us from rushing back. We sat at a table with a booth/bench on one side and a table on the other; the bench side had me sitting much much lower than my dining companion - had to practically reach up and over to reach the table. Just could use some more attention to the 'ergonomics' of seating the the smoothness of service. I would happily order food online from this place, but not sure we'd drive back to dine in the restaurant.
Tupelo Honey never disappoints with their special dishes and ambiance. however, this time around service was a bit slow and some food different, perhaps a new chef, but nonetheless good.
Breakfast was delicious- but would not recommend the grits- way to runny for this southerner.
The ambiance there is great, but I wasn't a big fan of the brunch food. The service was okay. Another waiter came and took our food order because the other one was busy. I would go back to try their fried chicken at a less busy time.
Service was mediocre...very slow at first, waiter hadn't noticed when all 6 of our water glasses were bone dry. (which shows how long it had been since he stopped by) The food was incredibly greasy, the grits were sloshy (grits should be able to be eaten with a fork...these were liquid and had to be eaten with a spoon). I certainly wouldn't Not recommend it, but with all the other options in DC, I'll be hard pressed to return.
Brought wrong food. Had to ask for straws and dressing for salad. Table was dirty. Service and food was poor. Won’t be back. So many better options in the area. Unfortunate for them!!
Excellent food and service, it's cozy with authentic southern charm and a menu guaranteed to delight.
Quite a few keto friendly and gluten free options, which is my biggest thing when I'm traveling. Would definitely visit there again :-)
Great service all around and when there was one issue with the food, it wasn’t taken care with the quickness
Went to brunch with my family when they were in town - great service, great food!
Service was great, we had a friendly and attentive waiter. Biscuits were a yummy start to the meal! I ordered the avocado toast and the avocado didn’t taste right to me. The rest of the dish was a bit bland, but my husband and the kids enjoyed theirs (French toast and pancakes).
We used to really love Tupelo Honey, but our last visit left us disappointed. On a busy Sunday afternoon the restaurant was uncomfortably loud, with loud music adding to the problem. Service was friendly but we waited a long time to be great or served drinks, and I had to ask twice for a clean knife to replace the dirty one I was given. One of our plates also appeared to be dirty, and we saw food preparers with significant facial hair not wearing the required beard guards in the open kitchen. Food was ok - everything was warm but not hot and presentation and preparation just seemed sloppy. We will give it another try in case this was an off day, but overall this location seems to have gone disappointingly downhill.
Delicious. Nice size portions. Great service.
No taste in food. Okay service. Ambience is great though.
The servers and hostesses were friendly and attentive. The food portions were good and wait times for food, drinks, etc were normal. One of the entrees brought out was incorrect and when we asked for Tabasco sauce (which we later found out they didn't have) the staff brought out Sriracha, and then when we asked a second time that's when we were told they didn't have Tabasco but they did bring out a hot sauce similar to it which was good. The potatoes that came out with the wrong entree order were cold which was a bit disappointing. Overall, good prices, large portions, friendly service, but a few miscommunications about foods.
There should be a non sweet potato option. Multiple in our party wanted pancakes, however upon seeing Tupelo Honey only offers sweet potato pancakes, they chose otherwise.
This a must for brunch. Add this to your bucket list.
Not as good as the original in Asheville - but I’m sure we’ll be back.
Wish they had more outdoor seating. Service was great!
Birthday with work colleagues
Me and a friend came for brunch. The food was great. But upon entering there were issues getting us out table. I reserved high top and when we got there they said it would be a minute to sit. We waited for about 10 mins and then as we get seated they take us to regular seating, I asked for the high top as requested and there were 2 empty ones near and the hostess said no. Well the manager was making his way around and I told him what happened he quickly rectified the situation and we sat were we wanted and even had biscuits on the house. Lovely place. I will be back to try happy hour!
Tupelo Honey in Asheville is one of my favorite places. Was sooo excited for Arlington location. Disappointed. Biscuits were woefully undercooked.
I've been several times to Tupelo Honey Arlington and enjoyed it. This time, though, the quality really seemed to have slipped. I had the Harvest Grain bowl which was very bland and cold including the overcooked kale and overcooked chicken. A friend I was with was also unhappy with his burger, which he described as mediocre and more greasy than he remembered. I still like this place, but I think they are best at the sweet breakfast dishes (pancakes, etc.) when it comes to brunch. They also may have been having an off day, but the hostess was holding up an ipad when I walked in and continued to hold it in front of her face while she greeted me. Generally the service was good, but little things irked me, which is a bummer for a $30 brunch (that's not including any alcoholic drinks).
Our last day In Va and that’s the best food I had whole time there. I would love to go back and get more
This was an amazing experience!! Staff is friendly and very customer service focused.
This was probably one of the most overrated restaurant I’ve dined at. My fiancé wanted to take me somewhere for my birthday that had great reviews and wasn’t far from Cirque du Soleil. Epic fail.It took nearly 25 minutes for us to get a server. If we weren’t so hungry we would have walked out like the couple who came in shortly after us . Before the server came over a gentleman from the kitchen bought us biscuits. The server did apologize he assumed we were being taken care of by another person. The restaurant wasn’t crowded at all. The shrimp and grits wasn’t worth posting a picture of. Overall, I wouldn’t dine here again food is overrated and this establishment lacks customer service.
Our server was disinterested and slow. The chicken came out overcooked and dry the sides were barely lukewarm. One of the meals came out cold and when we called the manager over to bring this to his attention he said “sometimes it comes out from the kitchen like that“, as if it were an every day occurrence. He offered only a half hearted apology and sent the food back to be reheated. Another couple at a table across from us waited over 20 minutes for a server to show up. They finally left. Don’t waste your time or money on this restaurant.
The food took forever and our waitress disappeared for a long while. Food was very tasty, though.
Excellent food and great service - a little loud - lots of fun and we'd do it again. Peace, ck
OK so this review will be a little bit different. Food was incredible, we started off with their biscuits which were fantastic but unfortunately we did not have any silverware. I wanted to eat the homemade blueberry jam so I just used my straw to scoop it out. It was also good. Brunch was also tasty. I got the southwestern omelet and my wife got the fried chicken and waffles, both delicious. I however wanted a side of sour cream, couldn't find our waiter. In fact, that was a common theme throughout our dining experience. Where is the waiter? No one knows...I had to ask others for help since he was MIA. Didn't get the check either so once we saw the manager we complained. He was so nice and he immediately comp'd our meals which we weren't expecting. That is the only reason we will be going back at all. The food is on point but jeez, get your waiters to actually wait on me! Props for comping the meal though.
