I’m a longtime fan of Tupelo Honey but our Sunday lunch for 4 with longtime friends was a bit of a mess.

Reservation at 1p, but waited 30 minutes to get seated. When we checked midway with host, we were told they don’t like telling people how long it will be or how many people are ahead of you. I understand that response if we were a walk-in, but what’s the point of a reservation?

After ordering, another 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Server was helpful, but she can’t control the kitchen. And, sadly, the chicken tasted like it sat under lights for quite a while.

My only issue is that we made a reservation for 12:15 this past Sunday and when we arrived, the waitstaff didn’t seem to have tables reserved. There were a few others who had reservations and experienced the same. We didn’t get seated until 1:00, but we were told upon arrival that our table was being prepared for us. Which was not true. The truth is that no tables for reservations were set aside and so we had to wait for people to get finish dining and get up. With a 45 minute wait, there was absolutely no point in making a reservation. That was challenging and definitely impacted my overall experience. The food was decent, our waitress was pretty attentive. The biscuits were amazing. Not sure I’m in a hurry to return.

Great service and friendly atmosphere. Perhaps the greatness of the service and atmosphere does too well, for the food seemed lackluster by comparison. Our appetizer portion was quite small, and both of our entrees, while tasty, seemed meager as well. Everything just sat on the plate with lots of room, it was almost like a cafeteria serving.

I am a regular, but finally had the roast chicken and it was incredible! Banana pudding is always a winner here as well! General Manager absolutely knows how to run a restaurant.

It is a little loud, but the service and food were both excellent. We enjoyed it so much. The manager is terrific too, as comes to the tables to check on you. It was a great experience!

Great place for brunch. Very lively on a Sunday late morning. Fried chicken and biscuits was all it was cracked up to be. Dog-friendly on the patio. Who would have thought we could eat outside on the patio in mid-January?

This was the first time we went to brunch at this restaurant. Everyone of us loved what we ordered. My husband who is GF had a creamy bowl of eggs, bacon, goat cheese grits and potatoes. Those of us who were not GF could not get enough of the salty biscuits with blueberry compote. My son followed a blueberry theme of sweet potato pancakes with the same blueberry topping and a blueberry fizzy punch. The pancakes were delicious! My other son who has a sweet tooth ordered chocolate salted caramel on french toast that he excitedly reported tasted like a hot doughnut. I am trying to define a highlight, but there were too many! We will return.

This was my first time having brunch at this establishment. The food was excellent, ambience was a bit noisy but not so much that one had to shout to be heard while having a conversation. Although I had a reservation, my party still ended up waiting an additional 15 minutes for a table. The staff was friendly; however, not very attentive and service was slow, even when the restaurant started clearing out. One shouldn’t have to ask for a glass of water for an expected third party when two members are present with the expected arrival of the third member confirmed and imminent. I also had to request refills of water and waited nearly half an hour for my coffee to arrive. Other drink orders were slow. In addition, there was a dirty dish on the table. Needless to say, I would have to reconsider visiting Tupelo Honey again. This is a busy restaurant in a larger city with brunch being a popular mealtime, especially given the area: Arlington/DMV. Knowing this, management should strive to hire more staff along with providing further training to ensure efficient service. And cleanliness should never be compromised—this is unacceptable.

Worst experience I’ve had in a very long time. Manager attempted to correct the ridiculously long wait time to receive order (over 1 hour), running out of what we’d ordered, getting the wrong drink from the bar, but no thanks we won’t be back. Oh yeah I heard there are biscuits and honey here? I wouldn’t know, our famished children and I were not offered any.

The food is great and I’ll definitely return to try more dishes. I was raised in a southern family and can vouch for the authenticity of the flavors and options. Food was delivered quickly too. Wait staff was mostly great but was initially a bit slow to return. Better direction to the parking garage would be appreciated.

Took 15 minutes for our server to get our drink order. Another 15 to receive sodas I ordered their signature chicken that the manager even said was supposed to be there good one. It was so dry I didn't eat two bites, it was like rubber had sat under a heat lamp all day. My spouse ordered the ribs, they were so tough not even one rib was eaten off a whole rack of what was said to be baby back ribs. The food was just absolutely terrible and though the server was nice she was not attentive what so ever. Im almost afraid to even attempt another location as the few bites we did consume made us sick.

We made a reservation for 1:15PM on a Sunday. This of course is prime Brunch time but we waited 45 minutes to be seated. once we sat down, a server came by and was very friendly and nice. When we got our food it was cold. I got eggs Benedict and my husband got an egg bowl. It wasn't ideal for eggs to be eaten cold but it was so busy we didn't say anything because after the long wait to be seated we were starving.

Really the only thing that spoiled our meal was that we had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time for a table. I knocked off a star for that. Otherwise we really enjoyed our meal (brunch), the food was good for a mix of foodies and fussy eaters and our server was fun and worked around small issues well.

We will be back, just don't trust the reservation time for Sunday brunch.

We came to celebrate a birthday. The food was a bit uneven. It was happy hour when we arrived, so we ordered drinks and appetizers off of the happy hour menu. The Bourbon Proper arrived missing the cherry and orange peel, the Queen Mary without the jalapeño. The appetizers were not as good as expected: the fried pickles were not hot (they should be) but seemed like they’d been under a warmer; the fried tomatoes were not hot and the grits were over-salted; the oysters were warm, not cold. Things turned with the entrees, though. The fried chicken with collards and grits was delicious, grits were perfect and fried chicken was warm and crisp. The cast iron pork was very flavorful. Dessert was the mason jar trio, each of which was a perfectly proportioned treat. Our favorite was the lemon. We will likely give it another try to see if the drinks and appetizers were just a fluke.

Not sure what the issue was on the night we came, but we waited almost 30 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We saw a couple get up and leave after waiting the same amount of time. It was pretty bad service and we then felt rushed by our waiter who told us his shift was over and then stared at our table as we ate, clearly waiting for us to leave. Pretty bad experience. Unfortunate because we wanted to like this place. Decent drinks.

Service was atrocious. The restaurant was dirty, there was a long hair on one of the plates and the other had food spots on it. Our waitress started off by telling us she was tired and then was very abrupt and brutish. Not to mention, when our food came out, it was all cold! They replaced one dish with another that was just as cold. To top it off, our bill was incorrect and the waitress blamed it on how we ordered. This place should NOT be in business. This was our third time to go here in a span of 1-2 years and each time it was like this. We learned our lesson and will never go back.

Had acreservation Went for brunch New Years day. Despite reservation, waited 15 min too be seated
Took 15 minutes to get coffee, which was fairly weak anyway. After waiting 20 min, Husband got cold eggs benedict. No Hollandaise sauce
Ordered blueberry pancakes. Got sweet potatoe pancakes. Poached essg were hard and cold. They redid. Took over 10 minutes. They were Ok but everything else on my plate was now cold.
Biscites hard, bland, cold. Blueberry compot for biscuits good. Not butter for the hard, COld biscuits. Processed orange juice; not fresh.
Worst meal I can remember ever having. YUCK!
At least the manager cancelled tge charges. We did tip waiter as if was not his fault.

Literally nothing was tastey or even correct.

Disappointed!! We wanted to like this restaurant. We’ve visited more than a few times & brought guests with us. The guests said they would not want to return here. We went for brunch New Year’s Day. Fried pickles were very salty. I ordered eggs Benedict...the meal had 2 slices of lunch meat ham & no hollandaise sauce! After getting a tiny container (about a tablespoon) the sauce was loose & no taste.
My guest had steak & potato breakfast...her dish had a very small slice of dry meat lost under a bunch of dry mixed green salad... another small slice was brought out...no improvement....that meal was taken off the bill. My spouse ate his sweet potato pancakes...the drink called Queen Mary Bloody Mary drink was over priced and very forgettable...kind of like this dining experience. Disappointed.

Dined at Tupelo Honey after hearing much hype from various friends / acquaintances. Having grown up in the South, I was really excited to relive some good old nostalgia by tucking into a southern-style breakfast during the weekend. Luckily, we'd made a reservation, as I heard people being advised as I walked through the door on a busy weekend that the wait time was about 1.5 hours. Needless to say, this stoked my anticipation / excitement even further. We were seated reasonably within the window of our reservation (we had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a small table to clear) and both the hostess and waitress who attended us were incredibly polite and efficient. The only downside, though, was the food. While it was certainly okay, it was nothing I'd write home about. The complimentary biscuits provided to our table were very salty (though the fruit compote that came with it was great), and the honey provided as an alternative topping really seemed fairly standard. I had the blueberry French toast and my date had one of their takes on a benedict. We both left the restaurant thinking that the food was good... but just that, and certainly not worth a multi-hour wait.

I really want to like this place, but ugh! Most of our food was bad: the drinks were terrible (a bad Mule? How?). The green beans were overcooked and missed all the flavors that the menu claimed. The fish was bland and oily. Appetizers were good. We had to wait for 7 minutes and then finally had to ask a second time for straws that were freely handed out to other tables. It’s not even busy and the service is still slow in this place. I would saw come for the biscuits and appetizers, but get entrees and drinks elsewhere. Consistently bad.

We were there New Years Eve early, 6:00.
Place was only 20% full and bar was empty. Seated right away, took waiter 10-15 minutes to greet us. Ordered drinks, house margeritas, which took way too long to get.
Food took entirely too long to come out and it was cold when it did. Was more of less flavourless.
Chicken was ok but nothing else seemed on par.

very CROWDED. Food came fast, and then little attention, so hard to get coffee, water refills. Main entrees -- avo toast, salmon salad -- good, fresh-cooked; sides had been out a while. It was my first time there. Promising menu, service less so. I'd warn friends about the service challenges on a busy weekend.

We were seated for a long time before a waitress approached us with water. Otherwise our waitress Paris was very cordial and service was great.
