Not what I was expecting. Too noise. Smaller than expected. They ran out of the steak my husband wanted so e had to change it to the Iker mignon which was more expensive. When they brought out the order it was another tables order. Our server bright the right one. My husband steak was dry and salty and he had requested the mole on the side and they forgot to put it on the side so he had to wait again for them to fix that. I had the shrimp chile relleno. The sauce was good but the Chile itself was tough as if they hadn't roasted it first. I had a hard time cutting into it. The drink I had was not any different than any other drink. I had the familia margarita. I will not be going back. I don't mind paying for good quality food but this was not it.
We arrived without a reservation, and the host led us to a beautiful table. Really cute room, reminiscent of Tulum. Service was quick, and attentive. Margaritas were delicious. Food was amazing, really really tasty. The ceviche was unique, as was the tuna appetizer. The octopus was delicious, the Chef even delivered it to the table himself. This will be a return to restaurant for sure, very fantastic experience.
Lackluster food. Terrible acoustics. A sad middle aged crowd trying to relive their misspent youth at the bar.
Excellent find on Oaklawn.
When it first opened, the food was a 10/10. However, we came back for a second time and had a less memorable experience. The service was great, but we had to move tables due to it being off balanced. The table next to our new table was off balances as well but they used their table cloth to stabilize it. The food was different from our first time dining. Rice was mushy, lamb chops undercooked and the prawns tested very charred. The drinks were amazing. But after spending $200….we walked out disappointed.
The food was fantastic! Loved the carne asada, the cochinita pibil pork, the lobster tacos, the fundido... everything! The drinks were fresh and delicious. Our server Shaun (sic?) was incredible, and her recommendations were spot on. We even got to meet Jose, the chef, who was really nice. If I lived in Dallas, I would be regular. I might anyway :-)
Overall restaurant was ok. Food was a little pricey and average. Nothing really special.
Loved it! The food, the ambiance, the vibe. We will go back for sure.
Great experience. Bar service was a little slow but dining room was pretty busy so they were churning out drinks for dining at first but it got better. Food was definitely worth it
The atmosphere and drinks were amazing and so much fun for a Friday night. The food was *chefs kiss"! The charred octopus and the brussel sprouts were my favorites of everything we ordered. Highly recommend!
AMAZING Food, Service & Ambience!! Highly recommend
Excellent Cocktails. Superb cuisine
Great night out. Food was amazing. Restaurant had overall good feel. Walking thru door and curtain felt like you were teleported to a resort in Mexico. Staff was friendly and attentive. My water never stayed empty long.. We had the oysters, best ceaser salad ever, lobster tacos and the awesome octopus. Would definitely go back!
Fabulous food and service! It was a great experience for my fiancé's birthday dinner!
Ambiance is great, very lively and pretty decor. Unfortunately the food lacked flavor and was not really warm by the time it made it to us. Yes ver all the food was ok, not great. Our server was very new nice but service was very slow. The music was way too loud as referenced in other reviews, could barely hear my husband speak.
It was very loud but food was good and service was great! Overpriced Margaritas we’re awesome!!
Way TOO loud. I did not like the carne asada, which was tough. Darling server and delicious Caesar salads.
Took my waiter 30 mins to acknowledge me. Beautiful restaurant. Will come back for drinks
The food was luke warm and lacking flavor. We tried 3 cocktails and they were all bland. I myself ordered 2 and didn’t even drink them. We didn’t get them comped either even though it was I obvious we didn’t like them.
Tulum has wonderful ambiance, service was excellent, the drinks were tasty and the food was good. Was the food four times better than my favorite taco stand? Not really, which is why I'm not raving about it. Compared to taco stands, Tulum is very expensive. Sometimes you really want the ambiance, drinks and great service, and for those times, I recommend Tulum. But I'll be at my favorite taco stand a lot more frequently than Tulum.
Delicious food, good selections and reasonable prices. Nice ambiance, too.
This is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food that always has a small twist.
The elote, specifically, stuck with me as it has coffee in the sauce that added a depth to the flavor profile.
I love Tulum! I wish I’ve dined here sooner! It is so beautiful and the food oozes with flavor. The staff was incredibly attentive and very sweet. I have an amazing brunch!
One of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. First time there and will not be my last. Very nice and welcoming group of people working there and the food was incredible. The energy there was terrific.
Service was not good, forgot orders l, brought wrong food and had to wait to eat until they replaced meal. Wrong drinks served or way too late. Screwed up the bill. Decent surroundings, fun but bad service and mediocre food recommendations rations.
Unfortunately the seating for 5 ppl was a bit too cozy/tight. But overall experience was good.
I would follow this chef anywhere. The quality of the ingredients is notable. The dishes are full of so many layers of flavor and the cocktail menu is wonderful. We'll continue to visit Tulum.
Everything was great except for the little flies that kept flying
around the food and the table.
Great service and atmosphere; plus went there during Restaurant week! Love every moment of it
Birthday dinner and it was amazing!!
Went there for my hubby's birthday. Great food; however, service was okay. Made a reservation through opentable and informed the team at the restaurant that it is my husband's birthday. Upon greeting us - nothing was mentioned for his birthday, no wish or nothing. Me and one of our friends told the waitress regarding the hubby's birthday incase it was just an accident; however, no wishes again. Food was good, ambiance was great but due to the service will not go back again.
Always a pleasure to dine here. José Meza’s cuisine rarely disappoints and the service is always great. As a person who often eats alone, it is so good to not be invisible in the crowd. That never happens at Tulum. The atmosphere and decor is vibrant and exciting, although I am sure some people think it’s too loud. If that bothers you, the seating by the bar area is quieter than the main dining room. I love sitting at different tables and seeing a totally different look, but prefer to have the kitchen in sight, to see where the magic happens!
The ambiance was astounding. I would certainly revisit.
The food was cold when it arrived at our table. This was the case for every single one of our guests.
The experience was great, and the ambiance and the food were amazing!
The food was wonderful! It is a different take on Mexican cuisine- so flavorful! As far as the ambience goes when you walk in the door it's like walking into an experience! Highly recommend!
Our first visit to Tulum during Restaurant Week in Dallas. We found parking without any issues and were quickly seated. The décor was pleasant and the noise level moderate throughout the meal. Our server appeared quickly and took our drink orders. He allowed an appropriate time between courses and was generally very good until he brought the bill before serving our dessert. The food overall was very good. The raw scallop appetizer very good; the sauce was tangy and complimented the scallops. The pork cochinita was also very good. My wife had the cozumel enchilades, which were superb! The sauce was excellent and this was the hit of the meal!! The final course was tamal de platano, and like the enchilades, it was excellent. In general the tastes were NOT Tex Mex, which we were happy with. We recommend going.
This is a treasure. Elevated Mexican, beautifully presented. Great bar program. Lovely ambiance, warm service. Unless you are expecting Tex-Mex, there is no way you could not be charmed by this place. We’ve already recommended to friends and we’ll definitely be back.
Chili relleno was very good, and we had guacamole (tasty and delicious) before. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Crowd was mostly young people having a good time.
