We celebrated our 10 year anniversary. Food is amazing , the service is great. We will be back soon
The service was pretty good, but the food was average. My lamb chops tasted burnt on the outside.
I’d suggest a more spicy habanero sauce, sweet crabmeat (not the brown fishy stuff), and have your sous chef check the avocado for stems.
Fundido and corn tortillas delicious.
Drinks nice as always.
Very trendy restaurant with an authentic menu selection. Was pretty loud on a Saturday night, would have preferred they turn the music down so we didn’t have to yell across the table. Besides the noise, ambience was wonderful. Food was delicious, especially the ceviche.
Cute bar as soon as you walk in. Intimate and adorable dining area. Scrumptious food and my cocktail was great!
Fantastic food - beautifully prepared and presented. Great value as well. The green pozole ceviche is a must.
This is the best addition to upscale Mexican dining in Dallas. The chef is talented and engaging, and even spent time talking to us to ask how we liked the food, discussed how the restaurant got started, and then picked up our empty dinner plates himself. The bartender is also awesome. We’ll definitely be back.
We arrived 5 mins before our reservation….. walked in and weren’t greeted by a host for more than 5 min! We literally stood there waiting for someone to speak to us.
Once the host checked us in she told us our table wasn’t ready for us because the restaurant was full. So we sat the bar and waited for a table to open up.
Let’s just say no one ever got back with us about our table, no sorry, no your table is ready, no nothing. We ended dinner at the bar when the restaurant closed.
The service at the bar was just as worst! The bartenders not once stopped to speak or ask if they could get us a drink! They kept putting us off for the first 20 mins of sitting there!
The food was yucky!!!!!!!!! I ordered carnitas tacos I’m pretty sure the gave me the bottom of barrel, the meat was fatty and cold! The tacos had nothing on them.
The elote was burnt and cold.
The drinks taste like juice. I literally felt like I was back in college days ordering cheap drinks at the local bars however the drinks were overly priced!
To put the icing on the cake. The manager owner person came by and introduced his self to the couple by us and gave them a coupon card for there next visit. Not once did he stop and speak to us not make eye contact!
Once he walked off the couple turnt us and actually gave us there coupon “You ladies have had awful service, and the food isn’t that good here, we won’t be returning”.
I’d suggest new management and new cooks!
I gave it 3 stars only because our bartender was good with both service and drinks. But they “overbooked” our reservation by accepting walk ins and were not able to seat us. Not sure we’ll be going back.
There were a ton of fruit flies. Asked waiter to be moved and initially declined. Had to speak to manager and request a new table. The curtain in the dining area was covered with fruit flies.
The salmon enchillada was a bit fishy and salty. Our waiter was a little bit dry and the restaurant was pretty empty on a Monday night.
I was looking forward to my spontaneous booking to Tulum. From the minute we walked in the door José’s ( the chef ) and his infectious smile/personality elevated experience from beginning to end! The food was tasty, and at great value. Especially considering the area, which will say a lot about the people watching! Cion our server was just as charming, and accommodating!
Sort of disappointed in the most recent visit. I had been here before and cocktails along with their food was phenomenal thus we had returned. However this last visit was disappointing. We had some cocktails and apps at the bar before we were seated which were delicious! Once our whole party arrived we sat down and we had ordered some more apps for the table and entrees. My other half had the Carne dish and he said it was the worst thing he’s ever tasted (btw he’s not one to ever complain nor return his dish) but he was that disappointed he ended up ordering the chicken which he said had flavor but not the best when it came to preparation. The chef actually had come out and apologized for the subpar dish which was very noble and professional which I really liked. Hopefully next visit will not be anything like this one :(
Good food, wait staff, friendly and knowledgeable chef!
Not at all your typical Tex-Mex, the food here is imaginative (yet authentic) and delicious. The staff is very knowledgeable and prompt, and the chef (José Meza) is friendly … and just amazing. We’d come back here anytime!
Not what I was expecting. Too noise. Smaller than expected. They ran out of the steak my husband wanted so e had to change it to the Iker mignon which was more expensive. When they brought out the order it was another tables order. Our server bright the right one. My husband steak was dry and salty and he had requested the mole on the side and they forgot to put it on the side so he had to wait again for them to fix that. I had the shrimp chile relleno. The sauce was good but the Chile itself was tough as if they hadn't roasted it first. I had a hard time cutting into it. The drink I had was not any different than any other drink. I had the familia margarita. I will not be going back. I don't mind paying for good quality food but this was not it.
We arrived without a reservation, and the host led us to a beautiful table. Really cute room, reminiscent of Tulum. Service was quick, and attentive. Margaritas were delicious. Food was amazing, really really tasty. The ceviche was unique, as was the tuna appetizer. The octopus was delicious, the Chef even delivered it to the table himself. This will be a return to restaurant for sure, very fantastic experience.
Lackluster food. Terrible acoustics. A sad middle aged crowd trying to relive their misspent youth at the bar.
Excellent find on Oaklawn.
When it first opened, the food was a 10/10. However, we came back for a second time and had a less memorable experience. The service was great, but we had to move tables due to it being off balanced. The table next to our new table was off balances as well but they used their table cloth to stabilize it. The food was different from our first time dining. Rice was mushy, lamb chops undercooked and the prawns tested very charred. The drinks were amazing. But after spending $200….we walked out disappointed.
The food was fantastic! Loved the carne asada, the cochinita pibil pork, the lobster tacos, the fundido... everything! The drinks were fresh and delicious. Our server Shaun (sic?) was incredible, and her recommendations were spot on. We even got to meet Jose, the chef, who was really nice. If I lived in Dallas, I would be regular. I might anyway :-)
Overall restaurant was ok. Food was a little pricey and average. Nothing really special.
Loved it! The food, the ambiance, the vibe. We will go back for sure.
Great experience. Bar service was a little slow but dining room was pretty busy so they were churning out drinks for dining at first but it got better. Food was definitely worth it
The atmosphere and drinks were amazing and so much fun for a Friday night. The food was *chefs kiss"! The charred octopus and the brussel sprouts were my favorites of everything we ordered. Highly recommend!
AMAZING Food, Service & Ambience!! Highly recommend
Excellent Cocktails. Superb cuisine
Great night out. Food was amazing. Restaurant had overall good feel. Walking thru door and curtain felt like you were teleported to a resort in Mexico. Staff was friendly and attentive. My water never stayed empty long.. We had the oysters, best ceaser salad ever, lobster tacos and the awesome octopus. Would definitely go back!
Fabulous food and service! It was a great experience for my fiancé's birthday dinner!
Ambiance is great, very lively and pretty decor. Unfortunately the food lacked flavor and was not really warm by the time it made it to us. Yes ver all the food was ok, not great. Our server was very new nice but service was very slow. The music was way too loud as referenced in other reviews, could barely hear my husband speak.
It was very loud but food was good and service was great! Overpriced Margaritas we’re awesome!!
Way TOO loud. I did not like the carne asada, which was tough. Darling server and delicious Caesar salads.
Took my waiter 30 mins to acknowledge me. Beautiful restaurant. Will come back for drinks
The food was luke warm and lacking flavor. We tried 3 cocktails and they were all bland. I myself ordered 2 and didn’t even drink them. We didn’t get them comped either even though it was I obvious we didn’t like them.
Tulum has wonderful ambiance, service was excellent, the drinks were tasty and the food was good. Was the food four times better than my favorite taco stand? Not really, which is why I'm not raving about it. Compared to taco stands, Tulum is very expensive. Sometimes you really want the ambiance, drinks and great service, and for those times, I recommend Tulum. But I'll be at my favorite taco stand a lot more frequently than Tulum.
Delicious food, good selections and reasonable prices. Nice ambiance, too.
This is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food that always has a small twist.
The elote, specifically, stuck with me as it has coffee in the sauce that added a depth to the flavor profile.
I love Tulum! I wish I’ve dined here sooner! It is so beautiful and the food oozes with flavor. The staff was incredibly attentive and very sweet. I have an amazing brunch!
One of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. First time there and will not be my last. Very nice and welcoming group of people working there and the food was incredible. The energy there was terrific.
Service was not good, forgot orders l, brought wrong food and had to wait to eat until they replaced meal. Wrong drinks served or way too late. Screwed up the bill. Decent surroundings, fun but bad service and mediocre food recommendations rations.
