Tujague's is the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans. This French Quarter institution has been serving traditional New Orleans cuisine to locals and visitors alike for more than 160 years.

Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.

Menu items such as the seafood courtbouillon and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.

If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.

We arrived on time for our reservation but the table was not ready. Rather than recommend going to the bar or something, we stood awkwardly in the way of the wait staff. There was a dirty used napkin on the chair when we did get to our table. Our waiter took awhile to greet us and disappeared immediately after we placed our drinks order. We all wanted a Pims cup but they were out of Pims. The bread served was hard as a rock and pretty flavorless. The gnocchi seemed to be missing the gnocchi. The house salad dressing was very good. The gulf fish was flaky and buttery. The gumbo had the right amount of heat. The noise level in the front room was ridiculously loud which is no fault of the restaurant but just be warned you may have to text your dining companions to ask them a question.

A friend from Montana who had never been to New Orleans wanted an old line restaurant. I picked Tujaque's for the beautiful environment and food and service. It was outstanding and Robert was a gem. The sommelier doubling as a waiter made our experience even better. His wine knowledge is of course, exceptional and his recommendations were perfect. Thank you for making Montana Joes's evening so special.

I would recommend but with reservations. We have been coming to this restaurant over the years for 25 years. It’s been at least 5 since we have been. The service was professional and the room bright and welcoming. Though I didn’t see my favorite on the menu, chicken bon femme. I didn’t realize one could request it and wish I had. I enjoyed my red fish almandine but my husband found the brisket extremely dry. He did ask for the horseradish sauce on the side rather than on the meat, but he dislikes horseradish so didn’t use it, still a brisket should be moist and fall apart in your mouth. This was dry and chewy. My husband said he would not return. I might to get the Chicken bon Femme.

With that being said, I am sorry that the brisket was not up to par. We will certainly share this information with our chef and team. We hope that in the future we may have the chance to prove that we can do much better!

Most of the items I ordered we're bland and cold upon arrival. The bread arrived warm and had great texture but was tasteless. The brisket arrived cold and lacked taste, which was puzzling as the food arrived quickly. Except for the sauce the bread pudding also was bland.

From their greeting to seating, ordering and eating, our experience at Tujague’s hasn’t been topped by any of the other 67 restaurants at which we’ve eaten in the 2.5 years of our New Orleans residency. Their gumbo was perfect. Their “famous brisket” remains unchallenged, and their bread pudding scrumptious. Thanks, gang. We’ll return.

Unremarkable overall! The waiter seemed to be rushing us with the bill, even though the restaurant was almost empty. Not a friendly demeanor at all! The food was a mixed bag: tuna steak was really well prepared, fresh with a tasty sauce...boiled meat was dry, cold, chewy, with Brussels sprouts practically raw.

Having had fond memories of Tujague's, my wife and I made a reservation for two for what we hoped would be an excellent experience to commemorate a birthday.

It wasn't.

The remoulade was tiny and thrown on the plate, presentation was non-existent, the gumbo had burnt rice in it, the brisket appetizer was cold, the pork chop with mirliton dressing was cold (and the dressing tasted like instant/Stove Top), the bread pudding tasted like artificial banana. Pace between courses was glacial; service was inattentive (serving a 2 inch chop with a butter knife? Really?). Reservation was 20 minutes late being seated, we were surrounded by patrons in flip flops & sweaty t-shirts, noticed that the "sazeracs" were being poured pre-mixed out of a bottle - not crafted to order.

If this place wasn't in the Quarter, they'd be out of business.

Waste of time, waste of money, no more fond memories to be made here.

We were on a girls trip for the weekend and very excited to eat here. Unfortunately our hope were quickly changed. Not only did our meals take longer than expected our server took it upon himself to add 20% gratuity. When I asked him why he mentioned having to tip share. We had 5 people at our table. When our tickets were brought back to the table he had written in 20% tip
and the total on the ticket. I have never been in this situation again and I will never go back to this location!

We were delivered waters after sitting for 30 minutes and it wasn’t until I asked after 45 minutes for a server did someone come over and take our drink/food order. This was the worst Easter dining experience I have ever had in New Orleans. I was extremely disappointed by everything but the food. We were dressed in Easter bonnets and linen sport coats and dresses and were put in back room with guests in jeans who really were not celebrating Easter. Then the waitress asked me when my husband was going to get there when he was stuck parking the car.... which all the other guests were have the same issue. The owner really needs to check on the front of house management.

We got to Tujagues, and were hustled into a back room, and a host just pointed at a table and said "thats yours" and we sat ourselves. Our waiter was nice and attentive but looked way too busy. The room was tiny and extremely loud, which isn't unexpected in New Orleans, but it was a little hard to hear. When we did order food it came out reasonably quickly, but i had to send my fish back because i couldn't take a bite without any bones in it. I got some kind of steak instead, but they still charged me for it. The food was not worth the price tag, but the drinks were good. Would recommend going to the bar and grabbing a drink, but do not stay for dinner.
