Tujague's - New Orleans
Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.
Menu items such as the seared gulf fish and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.
If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.

Unfortunately our bisque was served Luke warm, oysters were very fishy and the fried chicken flavorless. I’ve eaten here many times so this was a surprise.
I will need to adjust to the new place, I'm a creature of habit and it takes a little time to adjust to a new location. Hopefully they can transform the new location to have the same ambiance and feel of the previous space.
Great outdoor patio!
Highly recommend the crawfish and goat cheese crepes
Wonder new spot for and old Favorite.
Thank you for visiting!
Sunday brunch, brussel sprouts and boudin balls for appetizers. Bloody Mary’s were perfect and spicy. Shrimp and grits, smoked fish cakes, three little pigs, and shrimp po-boy. Everything was outstanding.
Love the new Tujaques. Same amazing service, ambiance and charm.
This is one of my favorite places to eat while in NOLA. We visited this past weekend and while the service was exceptional as always, the food was 50/50. There were four of us and we had the boiled brisket and crab beignets for an appetizer and they were fantastic. The salads were fine. The corn chowder had a great flavor but was warm at best. The gumbo is more creole instead of Cajun and was a tomatoe base with a lot of thyme, there is a huge difference and it was not hot. Again, just barely warm. I wished they would give a description on the menu. The filet was served over sautéed spinach. The steak was wonderful but the spinach was obviously frozen and had no seasoning. Tasted like it was microwaved and plated. The shrimp and grits were just good and only served with three shrimp. Definitely not up to the quality I would expect. The Airline Chicken was good. Two of our guests ordered mashed potatoes for a side and they were wonderful.
I am trying to be considerate of the fact that most of the restaurants have just recently reopened and I am sure they are getting back in the swing of things. I will give them another chance and hopefully things will improve.
We are sorely disappointed that you weren't wowed by your dinner with us. We are working through change in leadership within our kitchen. We hope to see you soon with a new and improved menu.
Would have been the perfect experience had we not witnessed the hostess setting up a table WITHOUT clearing the water glasses that had been used by the previous table and sat the next party expecting them to use the dirty glasses. We shared what we had seen with the party and luckily the manager fixed the situation. Hostess should have been fired-she knew what she was doing.
Steph, I would love to get more information about your visit. What you are describing is both shocking and worry some. I would love to get more information from you to figure out exactly what happened. We do have cameras in every dining room as well, so a simple time and date would suffice.
Their food lived up to the legendary reputation.
The server, Ana, was so nice and upbeat. We enjoyed the meal. We were in the downstairs dining room which is noisier due to it being adjacent to the bar and street. Great for people watching! And the tables were nicely spaced. Employees wore masks.
Waiter didn’t wear his mask at all time.
I would greatly appreciate it if you can provide who your server was, and any other feedback about your visit. All of our employees have been vaccinated, but are required to wear a mask. Thank you for choosing Tujague's. I am very sorry that was your experience, and it will be addressed.
Great evening. Glad to see Tujaques back. Very enjoyable
Great food snd wonderful service!
My second dining experience at the new location within a thirty day window. Their seasonal drink The Madame Begue is the best cocktail in the city right now! Boozy as heck, but refreshing for the impending heat. Service has always been impeccable!!! The kitchen is in the process of revitalizing their menu, so entree options are currently limited, however my favorite appetizers are the crab and corn beignets, char broiled oysters and crawfish crepes-these are consistently wonderful! Can’t wait to go back when the new and improved menu rolls out! No matter what, do yourself a favor and check out the new and improved Tujagues!
Delicious food in a lovely setting. I miss the old location with its history but the meal in the new setting was very nice.
Betty, thank you for dining at Tujague's!
TuJague's delivered exactly what we were looking for. Fine food with exceptional service and a unique atmosphere that delivered elegance.
Glenn, thank you for coming in!
Small menu size but the food was wonderful. Lacking in the side’s department, but each of the four main entree were outstanding in flavor. The filet was cooked to perfection and cut like a dream.
Claudia, thank you for dining at Tujague's!
First they brought me the wrong meal, and then they brought me shrimp (rubber that looked like shrimp) and grits.
Our server spent the whole time we were there hitting on a group of women at the table next to us and ignoring our table.
I never leave bad reviews, but this was a terrible experience.
I am sorry that you had a bad experience with us, and would like more information to get where we went wrong. I would also like to invite you back, on us, to show this isn't Tujague's.
The oysters where great!! Everything else was ok, the building is gorgeous.
Fantastic dinner. Great service from Brett the bartender who doubled as our server. Thanks for a fun way to celebrate our anniversary!
Happy (belated) Anniversary! Thanks for joining us!
Fabulous dining experience! Amazing food in a lovely courtyard. Our favorite meal in New Orleans.
The new location is beautiful and in the same general style as the former, but larger and with a very nice enclosed courtyard. The menu seems somewhat limited but the choices are very good, from gulf fish to shrimp and grits to filet mignon with delicious sides. The seasonal cocktails are fresh and creative. The service seemed a bit off despite being very friendly - it seemed more of a timing issue, some initial delays and then salads and entrees coming out very close together. We did not feel rushed. The ambience is old world, classic (the same black/white penny tile floor in one room (as former location), cafe style chairs, gas lit lanterns) but not at all stuffy. We will go back because service issues were not significant and restaurants are not long past the Covid restrictions so they are perhaps a little “rusty.”
Our waiter literally took our order 5 times and had to come back and say they didn’t have it. We felt bad for him. Both waiters on back patio looked like they wanted to walk off the job. The food we did get sucked. Worst meal we had in Nola by far.
I am very sorry that we ran out of several products, and that never should be the case! While it is no excuse, we missed the mark on ordering. I would love to invite you back to show this is not what we do.
Food was excellent, but The service was really terrible. The kitchen was out of nearly everything we wanted to order. We were seated in the front dining room by the bar. The front doors were wide open which led to so much noise from the street. I always wanted to experience Tujague’s, so I can cross that off my bucket list, but probably won’t be back.
Clearly we missed the mark here. We are in the process of a leadership change in the kitchen. That shouldn't affect your dining experience. Please allow us to invite you back to show we can do better!
Outstanding 4 course meal with the boiled brisket!
the seared red fish with roasted vegetables was cooked to perfection & the crème brûlée with blueberry compote, amazing! keifer is a great waiter! friendly, knowledgeable, professional & attentive. thanks, keifer!
Thank you for coming in! We are so glad you enjoyed everything!!
Weekend dinner. Food not up to par with New Orleans standards. Tasted like it was made the day before and microwaved prior to serving. Waiter was nice but food took forever to arrive. Waiter brought us a complimentary sampling of soups as we waited for our food. That was very nice but did not make up for food quality. Gumbo was over spiced. Crab beignets were not good. Brisket was okay. Goat cheese crepe was the best of the 4 appetizers that we ordered. Will not be returning.
I apologize for your sub-par food. I am also sorry to hear that you felt things were premade. We have re-vamped our kitchen since your last visit. I would love to invite you back on us to prove this isn't "our style."
the food was on the downside. we had to return the plates as the first ones chosen were so salty that they were inedible. To be certain, though, they were replaced with other plates, not fish, and those were ok.
Food was great. Wait staff was friendly and gracious but very slow. It was a pleasant evening, but the new location does NOT have the ambiance of the old spot. Its just missing something.
The food was great!! Service was a bit iffy but we were taken care of fine!! We had the 4 course dinner and each course was very good!!
First time at the new location and it exceeded expectations since we loved the original location. We dined upstairs in the Iris Room and it was beautiful! Our Sunday brunch of Eggs Benedict with duck breast and the pan-seered Redfish was perfectly prepared. There is a wonderful courtyard and a wonderful balcony for outside dining. Cocktails were also fantastic! We cannot wait to go back!
Thank you so much for coming in! We are glad you enjoyed brunch at Tujague's!!
Great time! New location has great ambiance. Patty was wonderful - always a great brunch experience.
Thank you for coming in! We are glad you enjoyed everything!!
Ray was amazing!
Thank you for dining at Tujague's!
Food was average for New Orleans and the courtyard was pleasant. My check here somehow ended up being more than Arnaud’s and Muriel’s even though the food and service was not as good. Quite honestly, the service was quite poor. Check was not even presented in a folio, just the check and a pen, what other restaurant does that? The value just isn’t there. They need to lower prices 25% to match the experience.
Thank you for dining at Tujague's! We appreciate your feedback and will be sure to discuss as a team to make improvements. We definitely have room for improvement on service. We hope that you will visit us in the future so that we can prove to provide much better service.
Loved the old building and restaurant. The food and service are outstanding.
Thank you for coming in, Mary!
Tourists trap! Locals should stay away!!! Visitors can have it!!!
Kurt, thank you so much for providing these details. These are clearly issues that we need to address so it is helpful to receive this information. We would like to invite you back in as our guests for dinner or brunch to make up for this experience. Should you wish to take us up on this offer please reach out to Nancy directly at 504-525-8676.
Bartender argued about something he was wrong about. Accosted my guest at the table.
I apologize if any of our staff treated you disrespectfully. That should never happen! We were preparing for a private event that evening that did include the first floor bar area. That should not have had anything to do with you leaving with the feeling you were treated with anything other than graciousness. Please feel free to reach out to me with any other further comments so that I can ensure this never happens again!
Dining area on the second floor was very quiet & private, great for an intimate date. The service was good & interior decoration was beautiful. Looks like they have a beautiful central courtyard too. Food was delicious but as with most of the famous restaurants in this area, a date can get very pricey very fast. Highly recommend overall.
Thank you for dining at Tujague's! We are so glad you enjoyed your dining experience.
We came here for brunch as a bachelorette group! The service was incredible. We had Randy as our server and Brett was the bartender. They treated us so kindly and really made our bride feel special. They made fun wedding cake shots for us too! Can’t say enough good things about our time here!
Thank you for coming in! We are so glad that we were able to help you celebrate a special occasion.
We chose this restaurant because we thought it was a really old building. When we got there it turns out that they had moved locations a few months ago. We ordered our drinks and they gave us 2 of one drink because they had run out of lime. The food was ok. Service was just ok too. The first guy we saw was rather frazzled and it kinda set the tone for what was to come.
I'm extremely sorry we failed to meet your expectations. We strive to exceed every one of our guests' expectations. We clearly failed, and for that I am sorry. Feel free to reach out personally if you have any more specific feed back. I would love to address your critique with the staff. We thank you for visiting!
