Tujague's - New Orleans
Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.
Menu items such as the seafood courtbouillon and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.
If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.
Please note that we do not have an elevator due to the age of the building. You may be seated on the second floor depending on availability.

Tujague’s hosted their Farewell 823 Decatur dinner series, and we were fortunate to get reservations to the event to dine in the historic building they have occupied for over 100 years before they move to their new location. The server was fantastic, and the food was equally as good. Turtle soup was a first course was the best turtle soup I’ve ever had. I had the duck, which was cooked to perfection with crispy skin. The grasshopper panna cotta dessert was creative, original, and delicious.
Great food! Sad to see y’all moving.
What a disappointment! Came for our anniversary dinner to celebrate their last weekend at the location they've been at for 100 years. It was a preset 5 course meal that was 5 courses of sadness. The turtle soup was devoid of both turtle and heat, the soup was barely room temperature. The bread was fresh and easily torn if you wanted to dip it in the soup. The crawfish/andouille pastry had one single crawfish and was almost cold. The pastry was dry and seemed store-bought. The next course was a sample of their roast beef which came also barely warm, dry, and barely seasoned. I could taste a hint Worchester sauce but not even salt, it was quite bland.
The comedy of errors continued with my husband's steak coming out raw on a medium/med rare order. It was sent back when 2 mins later a fresh piece came out even more raw in the middle but burnt on the edges. My duck was cold in the center and dry/bland. The sweet potatoes julianne were delicious, nicely presented with a nice crisp to the edges so at least one chef did his/her job well. Dessert was a brick of banana fosters bread pudding and a grasshopper flavored mousse.
It is very understandable why the restaurant has not thrived for years, service that looked more untrained then uncaring, and meals that were more appropriate for a cruise ship than New Orleans. Hopefully, they will do better with a change of locations, as if this is the best they can do, maybe it is time to turn the sign off.
Everything was amazing. So glad we went! I can't wait to see what the new location holds in store for Tujagues!
Tujagues never disappoints. Love the Creole cuisine.
Move of this fine establishment
It was a great meal & we were so happy to be able to go before they move. Too bad they can’t take that wonderful bar to the next spot
We enjoyed our evening very much. Extra special because it was one of the three final nights in the historic location. Food was excellent. The turtle soup is the best I have ever had anywhere!
Best of luck in your new location.
Will miss original location and the good food.......
The last meal in the old building
Delicious and inviting!!
It was an honor and a privilege to dine at Tujague's for their Farewell to 823 Decatur Street Celebration. As always, the food and service were impeccable. We look forward to dining with them at their new location.
It was a wonderful evening for my first and last dinner at the original Tujaque’s location. The distancing and masks during this paid private Prix fixe Farewell Dinner made for an historic evening,. Thank you, Tujaque’s, for putting this on, our lonely foodie souls appreciated the food, all good but for one item, which was replaced by the nicest and most attentive masked men and women. This was the first turtle soup I’ve eaten and I savored every spoonful. The crawfish andouille and spring pea pastry was one of my favorite parts of the dinner. The lightly breaded soft shell topped by a creole tomato salad with green goddess drizzle was wonderful. The beef tournedos and brisket are stellar. The grasshopper dessert was nice and light as my fifth course. The camaraderie of dining in the company of three wonderfully interesting women was something I have missed sorely during the pandemic.
Very cordial staff. Wonderful food. Great ambiance. Great value. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more
What a special farewell dinner & we were made to feel as though we were part of a great celebration of this 164 year old restaurant! It was a magical evening.
We always Enjoy eating dinner at Tujague’s anytime we visit our family in New Orleans. Food ,atmosphere and waitress Jessamyn was excellent!
Lovely restaurant. Years of tradition. A NOLA landmark. My yellowfin tuna was perfect. Will return.
Dinner was wonderful and our waiter, Randy, was super helpful.
This restaurant has such a continental feel, you half expect the wait staff to write your tab on the paper table covers! We really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the food was not as distinctive as the atmosphere. The brisket was tasty but dry, and the tuna was just okay. The hit of the evening turned out to be the grilled oysters with cheese. Delicious!
We were celebrating a birthday and the food was fantastic. We had the brisket as our entree and it was wonderful. The French 75 drinks were also good
Amazing food, pushy sommelier.
Excellent service and great value for Sunday Brunch!
We had a fantastic time at Tujague’s for my husband’s 30th birthday dinner. Food, service, atmosphere- all wonderful.
Great food, historic feel and overall good experience. Well done Tujagues!
Excellent wine and service. The gulf trout was amazing!!
Great dining experience. Excellent food. Our waiter, Randy, was the best. (PS. You got to try the pork chop!)
Waiter was gracious, informative and quick with drinks and food. Will be sure to patronize when next in New Orleans.
Food was excellent and service was top notch. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I was there with my 21 year old granddaughter. We had a lovely experience. I love the building, the food and the service. We would definitely recommend Tujague's.
Food definitely worth the cost but the cost is on the higher side.
A good late lunch on Mardi Gras day!
Thank you for coming in!
Tujague’s brings back a lot of childhood memories for me. I haven’t been in years so I was happy to see the food is still delicious! They are famous for their beef brisket and they did not disappoint!
Great food! We went for an early weekday dinner, 6pm.
There were only 6 customers at 3 of the approximately 30 tables. Many empty tables. One waitress or waiter for each table. Our waiter, for some reason, was eager for us to quickly finish our meal. He stood in the doorway watching us and if we were not actively eating he walked from the door to our table at the far end of the room to see if we were ready for the next course. While we were eating our soup he came 7 times to see if we were ready for out entrees! I started taking a small bite when he was several steps into the room so that he would turn around and go out without bothering us again. Completely ruined any ambience that the place might have had. We ate a small portion of our entrees and asked that the remainder be boxed along with our desserts and took them back to the hotel room to eat.
I would not recommend this restaurant unless it is a busy time so that the meal could be savored and enjoyed.
Louie, we are so sorry to hear this! We definitely do not ever want a customer to feel rushed. This is unacceptable and we certainly want to address it with our staff. Would you mind sharing more information about your server so that we may address it with him directly?
great food and atmosphere!
Thank you for coming in!
Gotta get the grasshopper drinks, they are awesome.
Thank you for coming in!
First time I visited Tujagues was 24 years ago. I
Just went back February 2020 and was elated that the food was still outstanding! Even something as simple as a sweet potato is elevated in its flavor- Hopefully I won’t wait another 20+ years !!
We are so glad that you were able to return to Tujague's! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed everything.
Good food and atmosphere. Wait service very prompt despite being busy.
Thank you for coming in!
They need to return to excellence. No there at the moment....
Carly, we apologize that your dining experience was anything less than 5 stars. Is there any feedback that you wish to provide? This would certainly help us to make improvements in the future.
While the restaurant is nice and service was great , I got sick immediately upon getting back to my hotel which was only 5 blocks away.
Pamela, we are so sorry that you got sick! We haven't heard anything else from other customers so we are not exactly sure what might've been the issue. Which items did you order? That might help us narrow down any sort of problem with a dish. We are very sorry that this was your experience!
