Tryst - St Petersburg Ratings and Reviews
Had a very happy Valentines Day dinner at Tryst. The menu was fixed but each selection had something we both loved. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Ask for Samantha- she is special. The owner also greeted us and thanked us for our business which is always nice. The hostess even gave every lady a long stem rose Very classy. Will definitely go back again
We found Tryst on accident when we were in the area on vacation, and we were so thrilled to find a fun spot where we could sit outdoors and enjoy food that was different than typical Florida cuisine. Our server was fantastic and everything we got (about half the menu items!) was delicious. My cocktail was incorrect but it was still great.
They were able to seat us right away. It took around 10 minutes before a server came in took our orders. It took another 10 minutes for one drink to arrive. We received or food which did not taste very well. The pasta carbonara was dry and not prepared very well. The Cobia fish was overcooked. The third dish was incorrect and had to be re-ordered. It took another 15 minutes for that play to arrive. It also was not very good and it was a salad.
There are many restaurants in downtown St. Petersburg and I have visited most. I will not be returning to this one as both service and food was subpar.
Apparently they also do not validate for valet.
My girlfriend's and I stopped at Tryst on our way to the Katy Perry concert. It was very nice and comfortable out side and the service was excellent. We didn't have a whole lot of time since we had to make a show but the food came out quickly and everything was relaxed.
I would not recommend if you are attempting to enjoy anyone's conversation or looking for a special occassion type of ambiance. I called and made reservation for 7, and commented that it was a dinner to honor a graduation achievement. Unfortunately it was our server's second night. He did not know the menu, nor had anyone coached him that it would be appropriate to mention the special occassio n, and at least had some comment concerning making the evening enjoyable for a special memory. Noise levels were abusive. There was no music inside where we sat, and door was closed. It was simply the loudest groups and horrible acoustics. Food was fair and certainly not worth the outstanding stars I saw when went to review prior to booking. Does not live up to a gastronomic experience.
We bought a bottle of wine with dinner. My mother spilled her glass of wine and our waitress brought her a refill. That extra level of service was greatly appreciated. The food was great. My husband and I went at five to celebrate our wedding anniversary with mom (her treat). The atmosphere was very loud but it quieted down at around 5:30. A good place to enjoy food but not conversation.
I don't know what happened this time. Been here several times and every visit has been great. The waitress raved about the wings and they were terrible. Three people got them and not one person finished their meal. All said they were the worst wings they have ever had. The other items were all as we've come to expect.
Another great night at Tryst with friends. Enjoyed a delicious bottle of California Cab for 1/2 price a bargain and 1/2 price bar snacks. Great server Tara very attentive and friendly. In spite of the heat comfortable with fan outside and enjoyed listening to local singer songwriter Kate Reuter as always a treat. Great turn out too ins pits of the heat! I'll be back!
We had a family party of 10, the table was ready right on time. Fabulous downtown location, we sat outside and they had an air conditioner directed at our table for comfort in the hot Florida weather. The food was fabulous, they do have the best chicken wings. We sampled all three varieties. The seafood risotto was creamy and tasty.
Love the wings and the salad. My only disappointment is that I left to go to the bathroom and when I came back my wings were gone. My fault because I didn't clarify that to my server, but still. At least I got to use the gift card. I've come to this place for a few years now, and its still a fave!
While the food and server were excellent, the restaurant turns into a night club too early in the night. The music was turned up too loud by 8pm. I was there to see my Dad whom I hadn't seen in a while. It was difficult to catch up with him because it was too loud. I might return for the cocktails but never to dine again.
Always great like Tuesdays as half price bar bites and bottles of wine along with live music from 7 to 10pm this night kate a Reuter local very talented singer songwriter performed. Great voice and music. I have tasted several of the bar bites on Tuesdays with friends Including edamame, Parmesan truffle popcorn, home made potato chips and edamame. All great and love tuna poke appetizer. I will be back for sure
We liked everything about it. FANTASTIC service. (Our server was Justin & he was as nice a person as I've EVER MET!) Great food. LOTS of adult beverage options. Great wine & cocktail list. Plenty of interesting menu items to choose from. It was a Monday night and very slow. Quiet. Just like we like it! We would NOT go on a weekend night. Too LOUD. Too CROWDED. Too FRENETIC. So...there's something for everyone! Obviously there are plenty of folks that love the wild vibe on Friday & Saturday night because it ALWAYS jammed with people. That's a really cool thing for those that are into that.
For me...I'll come on a weeknight!
As I say...everybody wins at this joint! I'm smiling from ear to ear!
We love downtown St. Pete and Beach Drive, and Tryst is in the heart of it all. When not too hot it is fun to sit outside and dine while watching people go by - and dogs! The restaurant is dog-friendly. It also has couches outside for drinks and a nice vibe. The waitress was amazing, service good - and we love the appetizer menu! On Friday & Saturday nights, there is sometimes live music outside that adds to the fun, and it isn't too loud. It is a little more expensive than some places but we find that it's worth it.
We're visiting from Ontario, Canada this week and relied on Open Table to help us find a good place for dinner. Are we ever glad we chose Tryst! The restaurant is in a neat area of downtown St Petes. The decor is modern and inviting, and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and quick to make excellent suggestions regarding their menu.
My husband and I both had the Grouper dinner which was amazing-- the meal was served piping hot, the fish was blackened and cooked perfectly , along with a delicious corn souffle and veggies. Really unique combination and we both agreed it was the best meal we've had so far on vacation. We got there at 630 and were pleasantly surprised to find that wines were half price as well!! The next time we are in the area we will definitely be back!!
Heidi accommodated our wish to be inside (looked like rain but did not happen), had a great wine recommendation for us, we shared the flatbread, just perfect for two women, I had their grouper special with a corn soufflé and it was wonderful, my friend had the seafood risotto and loved it. Great on filling our waters up and paying attention. Worth a visit!
Our 2nd visit to Tryst and not disappointed. Julia waited on us and was very friendly and attentive but not pushy. Food was great I tried the new tuna poke and it was delicious . The bar bites were 1/2 price on Happy hr as was the 1/2 price bottle of wine and glasses of house wine . An added bonus was entertainment by local singer and songwriter kate Reuter, we will be back ! Thanks
Actually came to hear the musician but she was cancelled due to possibility of thunderstorms but decided to go anyway as had never been there and had a reservation through Open Table. Also discovered Tuesdays 1/2 price bottles of wine and happy hour 4 to 7pm with bar bites 1/2 price also and a reasonable more casual menu then the higher priced entrees offered. Jimmy waited on us and was very attentive and vey knowledgeable and answered all our questions as well as being very personable. The quality of the food , wine and beer we had was top notch! We'll be back and would recommend. We ate outside . They have some table seating and also comfortable lounge seating
