Tryst - St Petersburg Ratings and Reviews
Went for Valentine's Day with a group of friends food was amazing! Must try the wings they are great for sharing! They gave all the ladies a single rose which I thought was a nice touch! They had a singer outside which played throughout the inside restaurant too!
Went there for Valentine's dinner and had a great meal. Love love our waitress. They are very accommodated and attentive. Not too much but not absent. The hostess was skeptical to put us at a table that had reservations in an hour but other hostess was quick to accommodate and had no issues. I even got a rose! Nice touch! Will always be back!!!
My wife I decided to go out for Christmas dinner and we made a reservation for 5:30 pm . We got there and had to wait until 6:30 to get our food as we were told there were only 2 cooks and it was the only place open on Beach Drive. The food was ok but not the best I had. My wife had the pulled pork sliders and she told me it was ok. I had the hamburger and it was also ok. We were both really looking forward to the cheesecake bites for dessert only to be told that they no longer make them. We don't plan to go back!
We made reservations for Christmas dinner. They took reservations for 4pm but did not tell us the kitchen didn't open till 5pm. I asked why would you take a reservation when there was no food. Not an appetizer, a cracker or a slice of bread. Was told there would be a special menu for Christmas dinner. Then they changed their mind and just offered the regular me u. Only offer 3 entrees. No extras. Fries and steak...not great for the high price. No salad or veggies included. It is by far the most disappointing meal I have had in a long time. Will never go there again and have told my friends what a horrible experience we had. Waiting an hour to eat. My husband doesn't drink. I guess that's what they were counting on selling lots of drinks before dinner. There were other parties near just as upset.
Way too many places in St. Pete to go than a sub par restaurant or more bar than restaurant. Who has only 3 entrees at a downtown waterfront restaurant?
I went to Tryst by mistake. I thought I was going to a restaurant I had been to before however it was a great experience. Our server Gwen did a great job in explaining the added gratuity for parties over 6 and helped explain the confusing billing process at the end of the evening. In between we had very good food and drink and everyone had a great time. The bar scene was picking up when we were leaving. Give it a try.
Birthday dinner with the girlfriends. Great table, great service (Parker). 7:15 reservation. The ceviche special sounded great. Three ordered it. Not available. Two other choices to substitute, not available (ribs were one). Owner stopped by to ask how things were. Did not want to complain on a special night. So LOUD at bar top table that it was unpleasant, on drunk middle aged lady and 2 guys. I know that's not Tryst fault but is there a kind and non confrontational way to suggest that others may be dining and use your "inside voices
Went to dinner with the family around 5:30 pm and decided to eat inside due to the heat. Unfortunately, it was so loud inside that my family could not hear each other talk. The odd thing was there was not that many people inside. Definitely not a family place but if you do take family, sit outside. The food and service was good though.
Fantastic ambiance with great food and drink! The menu has a variety of unique offerings that caters to many palates. All freshly made in the small kitchen. The specialty drinks are made with care for personal taste. Our server was knowledgable and offered up many suggestions for our tastes. The mixologist made a drink special to us! Overall, a great place to dine.
Not much to say about this visit, which was less than impressive. Thankfully we stopped at the restaurant next door and were impressed enough to head back after a round of really bad drinks and appetizers. The drinks were small, poor tasting and poorly presented. The same was true for the Apps.
Interior was borderline tacky and needs more comfortable seating. The clientele was sketchy and there were too many staff loitering about as if we came to a private club for a meal. I would suggest the outdoor lounge and seating and drinks and apps but pass on the dinner.
We arrived about 6:25 and was seated immediately but it was 6:40 before the waitress came over to take our drink order. That was the only real down side to the night for she really took good care of us for the rest of the evening. We started with an order of chicken wings with a spicy maple dipping sauce which we both thought was excellent. For our main course I had the grouper special, my wife had the salmon which was slightly over cooked but still had good flavor. Over all I would say it is worth a try although I don't care for the seating arrangement for you have no privacy when it comes to conversation. I could have invested in stocks that the two businessmen next to us were discussing for I heard every word.
Having visited nearly every other place on Beach Drive, we decided to give Tryst a try. From the outside it just looks like a bar, but based on some positive reviews, we wanted to give it a chance. Mistake. At 6:30pm, the seating area outside was crowded with smokers and nearly every bar seat was filled, but we were the only people seated at a table. Still, since the place is not large, the noise from the bar crowd made it hard to hold a normal conversation. In particular, one person who seemed to be working there had set up a computer on a high-top table near us and spent most of the time we were there shouting back and forth to someone behind the bar. Additionally the front door was left open the whole time, and again it's a small room, which resulted in a constant barrage of cigarette smoke being sucked in from outside.
On the positive side, our waitress was quite good and food was above average compared to "bar food", although nothing special for a restaurant.
There's nothing wrong with being a smoky dive bar that happens to offer a little food if that's what your customers want. But that's a far cry from what one expects from a restaurant with a moderately upscale and somewhat pricey menu. Again, our mistake for confusing which category Tryst falls into.
Tryst offers a gastro feel to what any proper foodie would qualify as a chic bistro. If you don't expect out of this world dishes then you are in for a casual and friendly time.
Some dishes are truly nice while other are just big misses.
The service is always friendly, if you can get outdoor seating it is very enjoyable.
Overall a great place to be seen and seat while drinking champagne in beautiful St Petersburg FL.
