We all ate appetizers and they were we're fabulous plus so was the wait staff
While the food and server were excellent, the restaurant turns into a night club too early in the night. The music was turned up too loud by 8pm. I was there to see my Dad whom I hadn't seen in a while. It was difficult to catch up with him because it was too loud. I might return for the cocktails but never to dine again.
Always great like Tuesdays as half price bar bites and bottles of wine along with live music from 7 to 10pm this night kate a Reuter local very talented singer songwriter performed. Great voice and music. I have tasted several of the bar bites on Tuesdays with friends Including edamame, Parmesan truffle popcorn, home made potato chips and edamame. All great and love tuna poke appetizer. I will be back for sure
Great location and view. Great drinks, Great live music, staff very nice. Burger and pierogies good not great. 4 small basic pierogies should not be $14. Saw some nice salads walk by. Probably would go back to try them.
We liked everything about it. FANTASTIC service. (Our server was Justin & he was as nice a person as I've EVER MET!) Great food. LOTS of adult beverage options. Great wine & cocktail list. Plenty of interesting menu items to choose from. It was a Monday night and very slow. Quiet. Just like we like it! We would NOT go on a weekend night. Too LOUD. Too CROWDED. Too FRENETIC. So...there's something for everyone! Obviously there are plenty of folks that love the wild vibe on Friday & Saturday night because it ALWAYS jammed with people. That's a really cool thing for those that are into that.
For me...I'll come on a weeknight!
As I say...everybody wins at this joint! I'm smiling from ear to ear!
We love downtown St. Pete and Beach Drive, and Tryst is in the heart of it all. When not too hot it is fun to sit outside and dine while watching people go by - and dogs! The restaurant is dog-friendly. It also has couches outside for drinks and a nice vibe. The waitress was amazing, service good - and we love the appetizer menu! On Friday & Saturday nights, there is sometimes live music outside that adds to the fun, and it isn't too loud. It is a little more expensive than some places but we find that it's worth it.
We're visiting from Ontario, Canada this week and relied on Open Table to help us find a good place for dinner. Are we ever glad we chose Tryst! The restaurant is in a neat area of downtown St Petes. The decor is modern and inviting, and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and quick to make excellent suggestions regarding their menu.
My husband and I both had the Grouper dinner which was amazing-- the meal was served piping hot, the fish was blackened and cooked perfectly , along with a delicious corn souffle and veggies. Really unique combination and we both agreed it was the best meal we've had so far on vacation. We got there at 630 and were pleasantly surprised to find that wines were half price as well!! The next time we are in the area we will definitely be back!!
Visited for Mothers Day brunch. Good food, good service, great location.
Heidi accommodated our wish to be inside (looked like rain but did not happen), had a great wine recommendation for us, we shared the flatbread, just perfect for two women, I had their grouper special with a corn soufflé and it was wonderful, my friend had the seafood risotto and loved it. Great on filling our waters up and paying attention. Worth a visit!
food was very good. People around us was loud but that was not the fault of the restaurant. Atmosphere was okay, mainly sidewalk bistro type but okay for us in the afternoon. Service was very good.
Our 2nd visit to Tryst and not disappointed. Julia waited on us and was very friendly and attentive but not pushy. Food was great I tried the new tuna poke and it was delicious . The bar bites were 1/2 price on Happy hr as was the 1/2 price bottle of wine and glasses of house wine . An added bonus was entertainment by local singer and songwriter kate Reuter, we will be back ! Thanks
Excellent server with fantastic service! Comfortable outdoor seating with A/C cooling fans that really helped on a hot night. Food was great as well... All around winner.
Worst panini I ever ate. They end of loaf of bread. Hardly any chicken. Just awful fries were cold just awful dining experience
Actually came to hear the musician but she was cancelled due to possibility of thunderstorms but decided to go anyway as had never been there and had a reservation through Open Table. Also discovered Tuesdays 1/2 price bottles of wine and happy hour 4 to 7pm with bar bites 1/2 price also and a reasonable more casual menu then the higher priced entrees offered. Jimmy waited on us and was very attentive and vey knowledgeable and answered all our questions as well as being very personable. The quality of the food , wine and beer we had was top notch! We'll be back and would recommend. We ate outside . They have some table seating and also comfortable lounge seating
Don't count on a reservation getting you a table. Showed up at 10pm (as per reservation) and was turned away, as were 2 other couples.
Our waiter was awesome with recommendations and favs. Although a bit pricey, everything was excellent
Fun time, good food, good service
Will definitely visit again and recommend
Stopped for dinner while on vacation. Good food, atmosphere upbeat.
Tryst was a real gem right in the heart of downtown St. Pete.. After a disappointing meal at another venue the previous evening, my wife and I decided to try Tryst and we weren't disappointed. Everything from the cocktails to the meals was outstanding. My wife was a little cautious given the limited choice of entrees, but I prefer a limited expertly crafted menu to menu with a large number of selections without any standouts (jack of all trades, master of none). The maple hot wings are a meal unto themselves (and Jimmy, our server, warned us that this would be enough and advised us to hold off on ordering entrees until we finished the appetizers). Disregarding his warnings we ordered more food anyway and it was so good we forced it down. I had the Blackened Shrimp Po' Boy (awesome) and my wife had the Pappardelle with Lamb Ragout (equally as fabulous).
Tryst is a great place to meet for a drink and see and be seen. It is in a very strategic spot in Beach Drive, St Pete. Drinks are imaginative and generally good. Unfortunately food is an afterthought. The menu is limited and not very well executed. The inside area is impossibly noisy, Outdoors is a better bet when weather permits. This is a bar with a limited menu, more for convenience than to wow your palate. So if you want to be seen, or be part of the in crowd come to Tryst for drinks and then eat somewhere else.
I love this place! The cheese plate is perfect for munching while talking over a glass of wine. The tacos are just spicy enough and the duck appetizer is to die for. TRY EVERYTHING!!!
We done early around 5pm like the
This is a loud restaurant with good food, good for groups. We liked the burgers and pasta dishes. If possible, get a table outside. With its three TVs and bar scene inside, it is a bit of a scene inside.
I'm sorry to say the overall quality of food here has changed in the last few months Still a special place to dine but mostly just for a cocktail
My wife and I came to Tryst for Valentine's Day and it was great. The seating inside was great and so was the delicious food
Went for Valentine's Day with a group of friends food was amazing! Must try the wings they are great for sharing! They gave all the ladies a single rose which I thought was a nice touch! They had a singer outside which played throughout the inside restaurant too!
They had a great valentine's day menu. The service and food was amazing.
I took my wife there for Valentine's Day Dinner. Attentive and friendly service, they even gave my wife a rose. The drinks were great, and the food was above average. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. We sill be back again.
Went there for Valentine's dinner and had a great meal. Love love our waitress. They are very accommodated and attentive. Not too much but not absent. The hostess was skeptical to put us at a table that had reservations in an hour but other hostess was quick to accommodate and had no issues. I even got a rose! Nice touch! Will always be back!!!
Second time here. First time two chefs had walked out. Food somewhat mediocre and quite pricey for what it is. Many better places, better value, better food
The food was very good, but not memorable. Service was very good. There was a small group of inebriated loudmouths at the bar who made the experience less pleasant than it might have been.
Nice selection of appetizers, entres and sandwiches. Indoor and outdoor dining in a modern setting.
We sat at our table for 8 minutes and nobody ever came. Table got seated next to us and sat there. When the server finally came because he "was on break" he went to the other table and never came to ours. We got up and left.
Great place for after dinner drinks and apps, but also excellent for dining!
My wife I decided to go out for Christmas dinner and we made a reservation for 5:30 pm . We got there and had to wait until 6:30 to get our food as we were told there were only 2 cooks and it was the only place open on Beach Drive. The food was ok but not the best I had. My wife had the pulled pork sliders and she told me it was ok. I had the hamburger and it was also ok. We were both really looking forward to the cheesecake bites for dessert only to be told that they no longer make them. We don't plan to go back!
It was okay. We waited more than 90 minutes for dinner. Our server, Gwen was outstanding! She was very accommodating given out wait.
We made reservations for Christmas dinner. They took reservations for 4pm but did not tell us the kitchen didn't open till 5pm. I asked why would you take a reservation when there was no food. Not an appetizer, a cracker or a slice of bread. Was told there would be a special menu for Christmas dinner. Then they changed their mind and just offered the regular me u. Only offer 3 entrees. No extras. Fries and steak...not great for the high price. No salad or veggies included. It is by far the most disappointing meal I have had in a long time. Will never go there again and have told my friends what a horrible experience we had. Waiting an hour to eat. My husband doesn't drink. I guess that's what they were counting on selling lots of drinks before dinner. There were other parties near just as upset.
Way too many places in St. Pete to go than a sub par restaurant or more bar than restaurant. Who has only 3 entrees at a downtown waterfront restaurant?
From the pictures on Open Table, I thought it was more of a fine dining experience but it is definitely a casual dining experience. The food was okay, nothing to write home about, so it is maybe a bit pricey for what it is.
