Dined at the bar rather than a table inside because it was our preference. The bartender was excellent in explaining Tryst's take on menu items and citing the chef's credentials. Loved the beet and arugula salad with goat cheese. Gnocchi is one of our favorites and this version was outstanding and available with optional protein. The atmosphere was very friendly. Live entertainment out front caught the attention of outdoor patrons and passers-by (the restaurant should definitely air that music inside as well so patrons there can appreciate it too). Will definitely dine here again!
Rainy day in St Pete made better by a great lunch at this restaurant. Excellent bar service.
Delicious brunch. Lots of choices for specialty cocktails. Great service.
I haven't been to Tryst in awhile, glad I went back. The food was great and the service was excellent. I had the Cobia, it was cooked just right and the side wee very tasty.
Service was good. It's more of a bar than a restaurant . Grilled octopus was delicious but the carbonara was not very good.
We had a great time! Food was amazing! Service was wonderful. Atmosphere was perfect. Great wine list. Highly recommend Tryst!
The food was delicious. I gave food and service 4/5 because when I asked to switch out the mixed greens, for brussel sprouts which are also on their menu, I received a definite no.
This inability/willingness to accommodate a simple preference seems a bit extreme for this restaurant. This would make me consider returning.
Wonderful ambience and delicious food!
Had a great brunch! The drinks were fun, food was good and the service was great. Will be back:)
Food and service were fine. We sat outside and they had dj playing music. Way too loud for the space. Made it hard to talk. We asked if they could turn down just a bit but to no avail. Probably would not go back if dj on duty.
We had an excellent meal at "half-price wine night" at Tryst (Tuesdays), ordering one of my favorite Oregon wines (a Four Graces' pinot noir). But our food was first rate too: we ordered only small plates and appetizers and can recommend everything we ordered. Particularly good were the tuna poke and the octopus.
I chose Tryst as it was one of the few St. Petersburg restaurants that accepted the full value of my $50 Open Table certificate. But I am certainly glad I tried it. Our server (who had a name much like "Tryst" but I am sorry that I just can't remember it) was an excellent server--enthusiastic with spot-on recommendations, and she seemed appreciative of our ordering a good wine and just the right appetizers to go with it. We will be back!
Very good expensive
Not usually one to leave reviews but the service we received was awful here. My husband and I went for Sunday brunch while on vacation. We made reservations and were seated quickly but then waited 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us. Then our drink order was forgotten. We then waited at least 15 more minutes for our drinks to come and to order our food. All the while our waiter was being very attentive to a large party nearby. The food was excellent when it finally arrived (delivered by a different waiter.) Our drinks sat empty while we ate and we had to get up and ask the hostess for our waiter so we could get the check. When he brought the check he made a lame excuse about it being a crazy morning but it seemed it was just that he knew where the bigger tip would be coming from.
This was our 2nd visit to Tryst. We sat outside which was very nice because the inside chairs are hard as a rock, plus the weather was perfect. The food and service was pretty good although my husband said his panini was dry. Loved the 1/2 price bottles of wine! They have a strong selection of both wine and beer. Will definitely go there again.
Waitress was terrific. Food very very good. Excellent value. Highly recommend it.
Tryst has been a long-standing fav in DTSP for us. All of the staffers are amazing (Tara, Heidi, Megan, Sam, Sarah, Coley & Reed to name just a few!) and make us feel like we're "home" every time. The new food menu is also outstanding and the drink menu has always been great! We eat there 1-3 nights per week. :)
Had a very happy Valentines Day dinner at Tryst. The menu was fixed but each selection had something we both loved. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Ask for Samantha- she is special. The owner also greeted us and thanked us for our business which is always nice. The hostess even gave every lady a long stem rose Very classy. Will definitely go back again
Heidi was awesome! Great date night or weekend spot. Spots on the patio are great for people and dog watching. Prime rib was primo!
We found Tryst on accident when we were in the area on vacation, and we were so thrilled to find a fun spot where we could sit outdoors and enjoy food that was different than typical Florida cuisine. Our server was fantastic and everything we got (about half the menu items!) was delicious. My cocktail was incorrect but it was still great.
The service was good and the atmosphere on the patio was great. Sadly, all of the food was just average.
Love Tryst! Outdoor seating was wonderful. Always a great meal!
Food was awesome. The octopus was very tender and the Bison Carpaccio was delicious. The brussels were wonderful. We tried the wings which were suppose to be the best around and we were less than impressed. Should have stopped when we did.
Seating indoors and outside with heaters - great service
A great spot with great service and a tantalizing menu for several different palets. Love the appetizers and the "Mids" offerings. Entrees were tempting, but we focused in sharing delicious apps and mids. Excellent service from Tara. Check it out!
They were able to seat us right away. It took around 10 minutes before a server came in took our orders. It took another 10 minutes for one drink to arrive. We received or food which did not taste very well. The pasta carbonara was dry and not prepared very well. The Cobia fish was overcooked. The third dish was incorrect and had to be re-ordered. It took another 15 minutes for that play to arrive. It also was not very good and it was a salad.
There are many restaurants in downtown St. Petersburg and I have visited most. I will not be returning to this one as both service and food was subpar.
Apparently they also do not validate for valet.
My girlfriend's and I stopped at Tryst on our way to the Katy Perry concert. It was very nice and comfortable out side and the service was excellent. We didn't have a whole lot of time since we had to make a show but the food came out quickly and everything was relaxed.
Went after the Sting concert for late night dinner with friends. Cool high energy place with great drinks and creative menu.
Food was excellent. Especially the lamb chops! Our server was very attentive.
I would not recommend if you are attempting to enjoy anyone's conversation or looking for a special occassion type of ambiance. I called and made reservation for 7, and commented that it was a dinner to honor a graduation achievement. Unfortunately it was our server's second night. He did not know the menu, nor had anyone coached him that it would be appropriate to mention the special occassio n, and at least had some comment concerning making the evening enjoyable for a special memory. Noise levels were abusive. There was no music inside where we sat, and door was closed. It was simply the loudest groups and horrible acoustics. Food was fair and certainly not worth the outstanding stars I saw when went to review prior to booking. Does not live up to a gastronomic experience.
We bought a bottle of wine with dinner. My mother spilled her glass of wine and our waitress brought her a refill. That extra level of service was greatly appreciated. The food was great. My husband and I went at five to celebrate our wedding anniversary with mom (her treat). The atmosphere was very loud but it quieted down at around 5:30. A good place to enjoy food but not conversation.
Excellent food and service. Very small and was very crowded, which is good for the business.
A great find for a 1,000 point table. Awesome food with lots of extras! Save room for deserts!
I don't know what happened this time. Been here several times and every visit has been great. The waitress raved about the wings and they were terrible. Three people got them and not one person finished their meal. All said they were the worst wings they have ever had. The other items were all as we've come to expect.
Interesting spot with funky decor. Food was excellent - fresh grouper was very good. Would certainly go back again.
I was very frustrated because the restaurant accepted reservations for 11pm, and when I got there, they told me the kitchen was closed...
Tuesdays feature half off wine bottles! Dishes are tastefully conceived, prepared, & served. Our server, Heidi, was delightful & helpful.
Very quiet on Monday most people were out side the place was decorated for Halloween very nicely. The food and the service was excellent
Another great night at Tryst with friends. Enjoyed a delicious bottle of California Cab for 1/2 price a bargain and 1/2 price bar snacks. Great server Tara very attentive and friendly. In spite of the heat comfortable with fan outside and enjoyed listening to local singer songwriter Kate Reuter as always a treat. Great turn out too ins pits of the heat! I'll be back!
