Overall a very pretty place to have brunch. Sorely disappointed in the fact that there was absolutely no fish in either my husband's or my moked halibut omelette. However, restitution was made and the service was so pleasant that we would come back again - next time maybe for dinner though.
Very nice first visit. Great food and service! Very loud however...need some sound absorption materials.
Crab dip appetizer and Apple based dessert were good, but prime rib was not tender at all.
Had a great first experience eating at Trummer's. The prime rib and scallop dishes were fantastic and our server, Patrick, was very attentive. We will be back.
Our family had a great time celebrating two birthdays at Trummer’s for brunch. The service was great and the food was delicious! The servers were very friendly and accommodating to our two young children. We look forward to visiting again very soon!
Absolutely fantastic. The service was perfect, wine selection was great, food was on point. Couldn't ask for anything better. Plus, the renovation is wonderful.
Excellent food and service! Definitely a great date night or dinner with friends location. The large balcony room was a little loud when all the tables were full.
A must try restaurant but over all a little underwhelming. Unfortunately the weather that night was cold, rainy/foggy, and dark, which made the drive in/out borderline scary. The dinning area was as nice as nice gets, however it was "keep your coat on cold". The food was good...not great. Only a couple of other tables in play so our service was quite good. We will come again this summer and hope for a better overall outcome.
Great food and wine. I really enjoyed the signature brunch cocktail, The Titanic. We sat on the second floor in the older side of the building at it was very warm.
Great environment and service. The food was very good, but certain items seemed slightly overpriced. I ordered a salmon dish that was nothing that I expected it to be and really didn’t like. The manager was quick to address the issue and switched my entree. I was only charged for one entree. My second choice (butternut squash gnocchi) was divine. My husband and I enjoyed the s’mores dessert, which was really fun and festive. But $16 for 4 tiny marshmallows seemed a bit much. Overall, I would definitely go back and try some different things off the menu.
Service was great. Renovations are nice. Food was a bit bland
It was good, not great. Waiter was nice but not very attentive.
Food was excellent. Service was fine.
We had dinner at Trummer's and it was fantastic. We had reservations and were seated very quickly after arriving. We enjoyed oysters and their signature cornbread for appetizers. The cornbread was so delicious along with the jam and whipped butter that accompanied it. For entrees, I had mushroom risotto and my husband had scallops. We were both very impressed and loved our choices! We will definitely be back soon.
Always a great time at Trummers. The staff is very attentive and friendly, the food is always tasty, and the drinks were fantastic. Already can’t wait for our next dinner there :)
Actually it’s more maybe than yes. I wrote a very detailed review on TripAdvisor under the name Yankeehoya.
First time since redecorating. Way too bright. Do like that we have to pay for bread now. The prime rib was really good!
Service great as usual. Not sure I like the changes.
Good service, food is okay not great, definitely not worth the $$ (we went for a NYE meal)
We went there for New Year's eve and truly enjoyed it. The fixed menu offered a variety of food and it was both nicely prepared and delicious. I had the Porchetta and it was very good. The service was very good and the noise level (on the 2nd dining level) was low. This was our first dining visit to Trummer's since the renovation. We plan on returning.
Our family of 5 enjoyed the 4-course pre-fixe NYE dinner. Food was delicious and we received exceptional service from start to end!
Patrick, our server, was excellent. The dining was bright and welcoming. The drinks and wine pairings were superb and matched well with the great food.
Our only recommendation is that we felt the menu descriptions did not do justice to the depth and superb complexity of the food.
I wouldn’t tell somebody not to go to Trummer’s because the space is charming. However, I would share why I did not love the visit on Sunday. The biscutits in the starter were dry and the omelette was overcooked. The Bloody Mary was Not my style, but that’s personal taste.
Trummer's in Clifton, VA is a drive for most that may take some planning especially if there is an event at Eagle Bank Arena on the George Mason University campus. Otherwise, this is a place that one should plan on dining at frequently. The bar is on the ground floor as are the restrooms (one person at a time in both). The dining room(s) is on the second floor with stairs (and an elevator on request). The food is definitely worth the effort as it is excellent and plentiful and thoughtfully presented at your table. The service is gracious, competent and delightful. And depending on the time of your must have reservation, a stroll along charming Main Street before or after your meal is a bonus.
We had our annual holiday dinner at the new Trummer's. The menu was interesting and the food and service were excellent. The new rotisserie produces excellent chicken and prime rib. Inside, the new decor is lighter and brighter and quite appealing.
Everything was excellent on this visit...holiday menu dishes served on warmed plates so the food stayed hot! Service was attentive and professional. Overall, very well done indeed.
Such a great night, unbelievably good food and cocktails. The wait staff was professional, but also fun and personable.
Most items-drinks,soup ,entrees-were very good but one entree(tilefish) was very bland. Overall though, very good.
Great night out! Food, service and overall experience is two thumbs up!
The main dining area is beautiful, with a high ceiling and enormous windows. This does a lot to muffle the background noise of other conversations and is a great backdrop for a fantastic meal. The food was just perfect. The French onion soup was delightful, with enough sweetness in the onions to balance the broth. The cornbread was excellent, with honey butter and strawberry jam. The butcher's steak was cooked perfectly and the pork schnitzel was very nice, hand breaded to perfection with a very nice ligonberry sauce. We finished with the s'mores, which were novel, but merely ok taste wise- I would do the apple pastry or the sacher torte next time - they looked spectacular at other tables. Overall, a delightful experience and a perfect way to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We will certainly return.
Very nice evening, as always. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Had the baked brie as an appetizer, and it was excellent. We had the Schnitzel and Tenderloin as main courses, both were excellent. The tenderloin was as tender a cut of beef as I've had. Dessert was also delicious.
Beautiful old building in an extremely quaint town with great ambiance and creative selections.
Have eaten at Trummer's on several occasions. Disappointed in service. Waited long time to get our drinks and entrees.
The new rotisserie makes Trummer's even better. Each day of the week is one or another meat on the rotisserie, and Thursday's duck was probably the best I've ever tasted. My girlfriend, who has plenty of other restaurants to choose from in Alexandria and DC, says Trummer's has become her favorite. No wonder -- same with me.
Great menu and even better wine list. Try the holiday signature cocktail! Best meal we have had in a long time, and the service was excellent. We will return soon!
Food was great, vibe relaxed, and service attentive and prompt
This was our first trip to the revamped Trummer’s and we were very underwhelmed. This is very unfortunate as we really loved the original. The new menu was explained as “bistro” inspired, however, it did not make a lot of sense and appeared to be confused about its identity. Most of the food was just “okay” and lacked sufficient seasoning. The roasted lamb was cooked to mush and the schnitzel was not fried correctly as the breading was falling off. We also ordered a salad with shrimp and it tasted almost like it was soaked in chemicals, probably some of the worst shrimp we have ever tasted in a restaurant. You have to pay for bread which is not a big deal, although probably a little tacky at this price point, but the worst part being the pretzel rolls did not taste freshly baked at all. The best and most notable part of the meal was the dessert, a caramelized apple napoleon, which looked and tasted truly amazing! The service was very good but could use some polishing. We could not recommend Trummer’s for anything more than drinks and dessert.
Service tonight was horrible all around. They just reopened and too many mishaps. Food came out wrong and at different times or not at all. Drinks from bar took way too long. Too expensive to have this many mistakes!
Overall we were underwhelmed. The service was so slow. We waited 10 mins to place a drink order and get our servers attention... And it didn't get better from there. I'm not sure they are adjusting to the new casual plan yet.... The food was good but not great. Steak Tartre was unappetizing. The flavors were just off. I'm sad we missed the formal dining experience here. I would have preferred a tasting menu were the dishes complemented each other with paired wines.
Love the new menu. Refined yet relaxed and affordable.
Excellent food. Great service and atmosphere. Unique Austrian-inspired dishes in quaint old town Clifton.
