Contemporary American
Trummer's Restaurant recently underwent a 10 year renovation and relaunch in Historic Clifton. This is where New York City meets Historical Charm. Owners Stefan and Victoria Trummer bring their extensive New York City restaurant experience and passion to small town Clifton to offer a unique dining experience. Our chef, Jon Cropf, helms from Charleston, South Carolina and brings an entire new menu focused around the French Rotisserie. The desserts are not to be overlooked as Meagan Tighe has been perfecting her tempting desserts in top kitchens in New York City and Charleston, South Carolina.

Trummer’s On Main is engulfed in history that dates back to the 1800’s and brings an edge to the historical area. Each floor has something special to offer for the eyes as well as the palate. Come see for yourself why we continue to receive rave reviews from both critics and guests alike!

Menu was not American as advertised, i had to use my phone to figure it out. Everything was extra including $5 for bread and there no sides included with the entree. While this is common for prime steakhouses, this not a prime steakhouse. Spend ypur money elsewhere

Excellent brunch featuring their special Valentine menu. Cocktails amazing. Wait staff attentive and fun. Requested a quiet table for two and was seated at the best table in the room. Brunch followed by a lazy stroll thru Clifton - perfect afternoon.

I've been coming here for years... and I mean yearssss. We have Mother's Day Brunch here every year for almost a decade, it's a must, and even with their new rebranding, this tradition will continue. I got married here in 2018 and it was the best decision, amazing food, people still talk about it.

Trummer's recently underwent a new rebranding from fancy dining to casual bistro complete with interior renovations but with the same amazing owners, inventive chef, and delightful pastry chef. The Mercy of the Chef tasting menu is gone but a menu with a bit more variety and more approachable prices was left in its place with a specialty towards things made with their French rotisserie. I can't rave enough about how much I love dining here and making sure to try something different each time we come. I honestly don't have any favorites because everything they make is always so enticing based on description alone that I don't stick to one menu item.

Valentines Weekend 2020 was our first time back in since the rebranding and everything is just as tasty as it's ever been, just the interior is way brighter and more modern while retaining some shabby chic feels. Beautiful! Perfect lighting and neutral background that will make Trummer's an even more desirable wedding venue. Our favorite dish of the fixed menu was the braised pork belly that melted in your mouth but the skin crunched with a force like bones were breaking, caramelized over the rotisserie to perfection, it was deep and flavorful and juicy. Soooo darn good! Then the Salmon was light and flakey with a lovely crisp citrus due to the grape fruit which paired perfectly with the lentils in a light lemony sauce; the complete opposite of the hearty, stick to your rib cage pork belly. The red velvet cake was our favorite of the desserts, the presentation itself was swoon worthy but then you put it in your mouth and it delicately explodes with individual flavors that meld together in harmony.

The food was delicious and the service was also very nice. My fiancé and I come here for specials occasions. The owner, Stefan, makes sures to visit every table and check on the patrons. Hands down one of the best places to have a delightful dining experience in the DMV.

We went for their Valentine's Day special menu and it was amazing. The crab soup was one of the best dishes I have eaten. The rest of the meal was excellent and well presented. We hadn't stopped here before but will definitely return to try out their regular menu!

I've been wanting to try Trummer's for over 10 years. It was everything I had hoped it would be. The short rib pastelle was delicious! The atmosphere was delightful and the wait staff perfect and friendly. My only criticism would be we felt forgotten upon our arrival. We arrived 10 mins early and were pointed to the bar area. We proceeded to order a drink and then the hostess forgot us. We had to keep checking with her to be seated. I also don't think we should have had to settle our bar bill before being seated.

Generally, a solid place to eat - but an even better place to just exist. A beautiful place in a beautiful setting. The quality of the food wasn't worth the price, and the service felt somewhat lacking - but I wasn't sure if they were trying to force a slow pace.

The server was great but I was disappointed with the preparation of the Dover sole. It was wrapped around a very “fishy” crab mixture. The texture of the crab mixture was like a purée. It tasted a little like creamed canned tuna masked with dill - a lot of dill. I could not discern any actual crab - visually or by taste/texture. It would’ve been better if the Dover sole had been prepared more simply and allowed to be the star of the plate. My husband had the prime rib and truffle fries. Both items tasted good though the fries were mostly broken into approx. 1 inch pieces. The prime rib was as expected but was not exceptional. It was cooked properly and was very tender. The gluten free cornbread was very good. The wine selections were also very good. We had the super Tuscan and chenin blanc. We did not have dessert. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice though a little noisy. We could still have a conversation. We were in the small upper room with the fireplace. When we arrived the room smelled like a bonfire due to the s’mores dessert being enjoyed by another table. The dessert looked fun and we were told it’s a favorite but the burning smell fills a room quickly. The experience wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. We may try it again but there are many other restaurants we will try before returning.

I’ve been itching to get back to Trummers to try their schnitzel from the revamped menu and boy does it deliver! Not over breaded or over seasoned. Pounded to the perfect thickness to have a nice breading to pork ratio. Gravy is creamy and decadent. Sooo WOW! the frosting on the cake was our server Patrick, who usually works evenings, but we were in luck that he happened to be picking up a brunch shift. Great, friendly and professional personality., made great recommendations and seemed to enjoy his job. A really pleasant dining experience all around. If you haven’t made your reservation at Trummers, yet do it now! You will be so happy you did.

We liked the remodeling changes made, wine list, but 3 of the 4 entrees we ordered were much too salty and the new menu is less than inspiring. That said, the place was packed, and people were happy.

Every time I go to Trummer’s I am impressed! This time I was especially impressed by the service, friendliness, delicious food and drinks. Mrs. Trummer even checked in on us multiple times at our table! I felt very well taken care of and the ambience is wonderful here. I will definitely be coming back!

Trummer's new menu -- and the rotisserie responsible its daily specials -- is a definite winner. We'd previously gone on a Thursday for the rotisserie duck, which was terrific. This time, Tuesday for lamb, which might have been the best lamb we've ever had...and we are long-time lamb lovers. Two side dishes, the carrots and the Brussel sprouts, also were excellent (though one would have been enough in quantity), as was the cornbread to nibble and the Sacher torte for dessert. The wine list is comprehensive, with a focus on Austria, including a good selection of wines by the glass. And the atmosphere, the airy and elegant Winter Garden dining room, remains beautiful. Clearly Trummer's has retained its loyal customer base while adding new diners with the less expensive menu; at any rate, the dining room was pretty full...so glad we went on a Tuesday!

Overall a very pretty place to have brunch. Sorely disappointed in the fact that there was absolutely no fish in either my husband's or my moked halibut omelette. However, restitution was made and the service was so pleasant that we would come back again - next time maybe for dinner though.

The chef and sommelier have obviously put a lot of thought into the cuisine and wine list, to excellent effect. The service is a little spotty - feels like they are trying a bit too hard. The decor and ambience are updated but still warm.

A must try restaurant but over all a little underwhelming. Unfortunately the weather that night was cold, rainy/foggy, and dark, which made the drive in/out borderline scary. The dinning area was as nice as nice gets, however it was "keep your coat on cold". The food was good...not great. Only a couple of other tables in play so our service was quite good. We will come again this summer and hope for a better overall outcome.
