It was excellent. The wine pairing was a little off for the price but other than that it was great and a cool experience.
We have dined at Trummer's a number of times since they opened and we typically have the tasting menu and the wine pairings. We all agreed that this week's experience was the best yet! All of the dishes hit the mark with some familiar ones plus some new taste treats. Kudos to the chef and pastry chef for excellent work with creativity. The service was great as well...we felt welcomed and appreciated.
Overall A experience.
Delicious. Awesome. Great wait staff. Food melts in your mouth. The drinks were amazing. We will visit again
Great food with a creative menu. Attentive service. Knowledgeable wait staff. Front desk was ready when we arrived and seating was prompt.
It was my first time to dine at Trummer's. I was there with friends to celebrate my birthday. I really enjoyed the whole dining experience! The food was excellent and I loved the ambiance of the bar and dining room. I look forward to trying out a meal on the patio this summer!
Delicious food, great value, nice atmosphere, will recommend
Food was too salty and too much sauce, very different from the delicious meal we had the week before.
The host, bar tender and wait staff all knew when to leave my date and I alone and when to appear to clear or take the order for the next course. The staff was so respectful that we never knew that we were the last patrons in the building. I love 'em.
The food is always inventive and an adventure in some new combination of flavors or presentation.
Always enjoy coming here. Food is amazing and the service is wonderful!
Lovely Old building with a beautiful patio, nice ambiance and great food and wines. We went for our anniversary and would highly recommend it for a special occasion.
Not impressed with the taste of the food. Beef Wellington was in a tough crust, and very dry. Deconstructed clam chowder is not worth the cost - no taste from the broth; all you do taste is bacon. The dining area was VERY cold which was uncomfortable for awhile until the heater finally kicked on. The heater should have been turned on a couple hours before seating people for dinner.
The salad was excellent, and the sorbet. The Titanic drink was also very good.
Our reliable favorite for gourmet and fab cuisine. Consistent high quality.
My husband and I celebrated our recent wedding anniversary at Trummer's and had a wonderful experience. The rabbit and pasta dishes that we ordered were delicious; the desserts (orange medley and chocolate medley) were fabulous; and the ambient noise level was perfect for conversation. The service was the best we have experienced anywhere. The wait staff were obviously very well trained and were very pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. Trummer's also made a special effort to acknowledge our anniversary, with several complimentary and much appreciated touches. I would definitely recommend Trummer's; it has become one of our "go-to" places, especially for celebrations.
We have been regulars here for a long time and must admit are a bit disappointed with the new chef. The dining experience isn't the same. Chef Austin would always visit our table to check in, even on busy nights, and we would have amuse bouche treats sent to the table making every meal feel like an event. Our most recent visit for my parents birthdays was we on a Thursday night with about 2-3 other tables of guests throughout our stay. Despite asking about the new chef, we never saw him. It also seems the days of amuse bouche are over, and even after saying we eat gluten free, we had a bread stick placed on our salads. I will say the broth from the seafood cioppino was very flavorful, and my husband was very pleased with the preparation of the rabbit, however there was nothing exceptional about our dining experience which is what we had come to expect from Trummers.
We went for my husband's birthday. The service was quite attentive and we appreciated the chef's extras. Unfortunately, my entree (tagliatelle with vegetables) was almost inedible because it was so salty. When our coffees came at the end of the meal the cream curdled in the cup. The waiter quickly replaced it, but still it should not have happened in the first place. Overall, I was disappointed in the evening.
Everything was wonderful. We enjoyed our meal and appreciated the great service.
Our favorite for family special occasions. Always beautiful food served by excellent staff.
Amazing service and wonderful brunch atmosphere. Whole family enjoyed brunch and celebrating my father in laws birthday. Will def return again
We had the Chef’s tasting menu wonderful as always.
Excellent dinner and wine
Excellent- in every way. tasting menu was superb! service was exceptional!
The.Best.Meal. Altho we had a pescatarian in our group of three, we were able to have the Chef’s 5 course meal. He and I also had the wine pairing. Magnificent! I highly recommend it. This was about my tenth visit to Trummer’s and by far the best!
Food was warm, not hot. Cowboy steak was unseasoned.
Trummer's is first choice when out-of-town visitors arrive. And once again, Trummer's delighted these folks visiting for the first time. Actually it also delighted just two of us when we went for a simpler bar dinner a few days earlier. And be sure to check out the Friday special dinner for two, which changes weekly.
We had a difficult time finding an appetizer and a entree. I did check the menu ahead of time and found lamb which we both would eat. It turns out the lamb is from the stomach and fatty. I suggest they work on their menu. The fresh corn bread and hot apple cider were delicious. The service was very good.
I love this restaurant and have dined here many times for different occasions, but this was a first time experience for my date and he was impressed! Always great food and attentive service. The aesthetic is impressive and we intend to return for dinner and cocktails soon. Definitely worth the drive from Alexandria.
My wife and I have eaten at Trummer's dozens of times. Brunch last Sunday was our only disappointing meal. The food was barely warm when it came to the table. Both my wife and I felt a little queasy in the hours following the meal. The service was satisfactory, but there was no drink refreshes or other visits to the table after the meal was served. We really like Trummer's, but it will be a while before we return.
We love coming to Trummers! They get a gold star for hospitality & food (and Titanic cocktails). But good luck finding anything low carb. We really would hate to stop coming here for brunch but it's tough to stick to a healthy lifestyle. I was so filled with bread (and we avoided the bread basket) that I did not eat dinner that night.
First visit but not the last. Menu is pricey (entrees about $40) but superbly prepared, presented, and delicious. Cannot describe or explain our dessert. Many textures and tastes prepared in orange flavors. Unbelievable. Great service including a table visit by the owner. Wonderful experience.
This is a top notch restaurant that anyone would enjoy. The food was well prepared and the service was impeccable. I will return for a very special occasion. Despite the $ signs, make sure you have your pocketbook because it pushes that level.
Try the tasting menu, you can’t go wrong.
Enjoyed the tasting menu with wine pairings as an anniversary dinner. Great recommendation by friends. We loved it!
Great dinner with friends. Service was definitely lacking and when we made the reservation we weren't told 1/2 of restaurant was booked by private party. My sense is we had the "B" team waiting on our tables in the non-party room. Took over 15 minutes to be approached for drink order once seated. We moved seats as there were several open tables with more ambiance than the one at the kitchen entrance and this seemed like a big issue to them, I couldn't see why as it was plain to see that where they had seated us was less than optimal. My Wellington was terrific once they got them requested temperature done, my wife's Halibut was overcooked but good (a bit on dry side). I dream of the truffle fries and brussel sprouts. Once again, no one took our drink order for dinner so we all drank water. Got my bill and it was wrong, had to send it back. I would go again as the food is terrific and drinks (when you can get them!) are innovative and terrific as well.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. Based on its reputation our expectations were high and It fulfilled those expectations completely: food, ambiance, and service. We will visit it again for dinner and maybe for a brunch, and try those "designer" cocktails which we missed this time.
We had too much service for one. Hardly any quiet time between getting new utensils and having plates removed. The food options are limited. Wanted to rave about this place as we have been meaning to go for years. But we won’t return
I enjoy the chef's selections. The atmosphere is warm and enjoyable. The service is attentive and friendly. This is a more formal location and perfect for a date.
A nice outing for a Sunday afternoon with friends. Not rushed and choices for all types of dietary restrictions.
