Trummer's on Main Ratings and Reviews
We had Sunday brunch and both the eggs Benedict and the shrimp and grits were very good. The service was off though. They kept taking away our coffee mugs and we kept asking them to leave the mugs so that we could have coffee after our meal. Then, when we were ready for coffee we couldn't get anyone to serve us any. And the cream for the milk was curdling. Pretty place for a drive into the country, with decent food, but the service has to be notches better to make it worth the drive.
Trummer's was hopping with a big party in the atrium. We were seated in a smaller dining room down the hall. Nice ambience with the fireplace on. Things were quiet 'til another large party came in....and made a racket. Our anniversary dinner was not acknowledged by the restaurant (even when the owner stopped by to say hello). We'd also celebrated the weekend before at Fish (in the MGM Grand). They sent over 2 flutes of champagne. A nice surprise. What every diner did receive was a half filled cup of overly sweet warm cider garnished with fresh sage. I was enjoying my perfectly prepared Titanic cocktail so I gave my cider to my hubby. My appetizer was presented under a gleaming silver dome. A bit formal for a Delicata stuffed squash! It was a creative dish but needed less spaghetti squash filling & incorporated goat cheese & red jam (?). The pepitas provided a nice crunch. Barry's charcuterie was good but the cheese to meat ratio was way off. And he had to ask for more grainy mustard. He's watching carbs so it was nice to have cucumber slices instead of crackers or bread. We'd already cheated with their fantastic cornbread served with butter & jam. My entrée was 2 quail stuffed with enough bread stuffing to feed the entire dining room. I think it swelled up inside the birds. They need to consider stuffing them with the excellent Geebie Boy heirloom grits. And the quail needed to be crisp....too rubbery to cut through the skin. Barry's 20 oz. Porterhouse was awesome! The only criticism would be the flurry of small Romaine leaves on top. They were filled with some sort of cream but not appealing. I enjoyed a glass of Gruner Vetliner & we both had Cappuccino instead of dessert.
I live 10 minutes from Trummer's for over 22 years. Been there many times as a couple & in large groups. Usually great food & ambiance. This last visit was terrible. Staff was courteous as always. Out of four of us, three ordered the scallops (big mistake). Scallops were large but cooked/flat grilled/baked with a terrible seasoning/sauce that the whole dish tasted ugly.....with a aftertaste (of fuel?). Placed on a mountain of quinoa that would serve 3-4 people instead of one. Two of us did not eat the scallops.
We decided to indulge in desert & ordered the chocolate cake for 4-6 with the flambe'd topping (baked Alaska style). Tiny cake with chewy marshmallow topping......not the Trummer's we've come to expect. We cut the cake ourselves moving it around the table. Chocolate crumbs were never cleaned up. We decided not to stay for after-dinner drinks or wine.....dinner was over.
The manager did come by & offer a percentage off one dinner when we explained the scallops were not edible.
We loved the tasting dinner. Each dish was exciting, delicious, wonderfully presented, and an experience. The cocktails were very unusual and exceptionally flavored. On a Tuesday evening, the dining experience was relaxed and quiet. The server was attentive and very knowledgeable about each dish. It was a lovely experience and an appropriate value.
Longtime lover of Trummers. We did he Santa lunch and for the price, I was disappointed. The food on the buffet seemed like it had been there for some time. There were no cups for the yogurt and the spoon to serve the yogurt was tiny requiring 20 scoops to fill a plate (since there were no cups or bows).
I feel like for $42 it should have included one drink or at the very least the small baggies filled with two marshmallows, a piece of chocolate and a graham cracker. Don’t charge me $4 additional bucks for the S’mores “kit” served in a baggie. It felt cheap and Trummers is better than that.
I will say, the food was great, but that’s what I expect when I go to Trummers and I don’t mind paying for it, but this was overpriced for an “experience” that left lacked the sophistication I’ve come to expect from one of my absolute favorite restaurants.
The service was somewhat slower than normal. Our reservation was at 7:30; we were seated promptly, however, we were not served dinner until about 45 minutes later. I’ll blame it in a special event being held in part or the restaurant that evening. Despite the wait, we’ll be back!
Here for our anniversary tonight. I mentioned this in my notes in Open Table reservation but no one ever said anything to us at Trummer’s. Maybe I’m expecting too much. The restaurant is very nice. Service was tremendous. Food was excellent. They accidentally gave us a strange dessert we did not order, then brought out the correct one. Wine list is impressive. Overall a “good” experience but there are some others around that we have been to before that we prefer. This won’t be a regular spot of ours, but we will come back for a non-special occasion. This is an expensive restaurant.
Cannot say enough about the service. We were running late for an event following dinner and informed our waiter and our dinner was out in less than 15 minutes!
In addition the food was excellent as it always is at Trummers!
Will definitely be back for what can only be another meal and experience that is sure to be second to none!
We won a gift certificate from my children's school fundraiser. It was a little bit of a drive for us, but well worth it! The food was delicious, the cocktails were creative, and the service was top notch. The dining room is elegant and made for a great date night. An excellent special occasion location, whether it's something romantic or a get-together with friends. We didn't hang out at the bar, but it seemed a popular location as we walked through. We definitely plan on visiting again!
Trummer's for Brunch. Vibrant and airy atmosphere. Service was pleasant, hospitable, yet confused and sketchy. Eggs Benedict hollandaise lacked thickness and richness. Bacon was excellent. Salmon omlette cooked just right but for 24 DOLLARS? Come on! Seemed most of the staff were inexperienced, but they were trying and will get better. Pastry basket was excellent. Very good coffee too.
Trummers On Main has been our regular special occasion restaurant for the past five years. We're always so impressed with their seasonal menus. We're never disappointed when we splurge on the tasting menu. We can't wait to celebrate our next special event at Trummers!
Food was nearly 1 hour in coming and when it did arrive, one was cold and the other meal was incorrect. Sent it back to fix and get a second incorrect dish. Finally ended up leaving without having eaten after being there for an hour. Won't come back.
We did the tasting menu. Food that was supposed to be warm/hot was room temperature. The plate was hot, yet the food was not. Some dishes were bland and some were overly salty. Perhaps our expectations were too high, but with so many other great reviews, we expected it to be great. Unfortunately, it was mediocre at best. It also took a over 3 hours from the first to the last course of a seven course meal. It was the slowest paced tasting menu my friends and I have ever had. Doubtful whether I would go back and try something other than the tasting menu.
