Great for pre-show events. They really know how to get you in and out when you tell them that you are headed to an event in downtown Hartford!
We had tickets for Theater Works so chose Trumbull Kitchen (first visit). We were treated like royalty from the time we came in the front door until we left - 5+ for food and service. Our server was extremely attentive and did a great job in getting us to the show in plenty of time. Well done Trumbull Kitchen - we'll be back!
Relaxing pre theatre dinner
This was our second trip to Trumbull, and it was excellent. Convenient location, great atmosphere with a fun bar and creative drinks!
One of my favorite restaurants in Hartford. You can never go wrong with anything from the menu. I've tried something new each time I've been there and have not been disappointed once. Really fun well put together appetizers, beautifully prepared dinners, and excellent desserts. My go to place in downtown.
My girlfriend asked me repeatedly if we could come back.
This trendy restaurant was bustling in the middle of the week, serving mostly a younger crowd. The only detractor was the noise. My husband and I chose to make our meal from apps and a vegetable and we weren't disappointed. The food came out quickly, hot and delicious. The menu is eclectic and creative. We enjoyed wings, pork dumplings, Asian lettuce cups, curried noodles an.d calamari plus the Thai roasted cauliflower (which was the only thing that wasn't scrumptious). We were hard-pressed to choose, because there were so many tempting options. Service was attentive, prompt, and friendly. If you're tired of the standard offerings of so many good restaurants and you're willing to try some foods of different cultures, you'll enjoy Trumbull Kitchen.
As usual, the Max group does it right. TK is a great spot to get a drink, have a meal, or meet with friends. Thanks for the great evening.
Awesome dinner and service!
Can’t wait to return for the next 4 years with my son who will be part of the Trinity Class of 2022!!!
I found Trumbull Kitchen online before a visit to Hartford (from Syracuse, NY) for a Stampin' Up! convention. I asked my friends if they wanted to join me and we wound up with a table of 9, originally to be just 5. TK upped the reservation with no problem and they were great to deal with on the phone. In fact, Tommy called me a few times about the reservation.
My friends and I loved our meals...and the drinks. They are still talking about the Pain Killer and the mug it came in. LOL The lemon drop martini was fab.
It turned out that the corporate team from Stampin' Up! (14 of them from Salt Lake City, UT) also came in for dinner. That was a fun surprise for us. TK online marketing must be very enticing!
All-in-all a fun evening!
The food was amazing!!! This was my second visit. The first time, everything came in a timely manner, but last night it took over a half hour to get our food. Once it came though....delicious!
I will go again for sure!
Service was great. Staff was attentive to every detail with a formal dining service , but maintained a relaxed atmosphere.
Host was attentive in greeting us and promptly showed us to our seats.
Server recommended an excellent wine that perfectly paired with our meals.
Food was perfection in taste and presentation.
Trumbull Kitchen is on our rotational list of places to dine out in the greater Hartford Area and never disappoints.
Had dinner there prior to a show at Theaterworks. We each had a special - flounder, scallops - and both were delicious. They were also having a wine special that evening, which was nice. Waitstaff was aware of our show time and provided prompt service.
Excellent meal as usual: quick efficient service in spite of being very busy; good basic wine and beer list (although one beer choice was not available). Food was delicious: the Scallops on rice with fresh greens (pea tendrils, mesclun) were perfect and tasty. We like to eat here before going to the Hartford Stage Theatre, and are always happy with the experience!
My wife and I love this restaurant. Everything on the menu is great and there are a variety of appetizers and entrees to choose from. There is a bit of an Asian influence in some of the menu items and they are great choices like the calamari and the lettuce wraps. We highly recommend this place.
Great food for the price and such a nice atmosphere.
Great be seated away from bar for quiet early (pre theater) dinner. Also great to have wine bottles at half price. And food great too.
Always have a great meal at TK. Steaks are my favorite, portion sizes just right. Service is on point. Would recommend.
Excellent local place with solid food and terrific service. Also have a dedicated gluten free menu!
Excellent food, some unique choice, but way too loud—music and other customers. Not a place for an intimate or quiet dining experience.
We stopped at Trumbull Kitchen before going to Theaterworks. The decor is very cool and modern. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night. We were glad we had made a reservation. We arrived ten minutes early and were seated right away. The cocktails were delicious. I had the cider sangria. My son had a couple of different kinds of beer which he enjoyed. The problem was that the kitchen was very slow in getting the food out. Regardless the waitress was on top of it and apologized without us having to say anything. The manager was very accommodating and took two of our cocktails and the side dish off the bill. I got the small hangar steak which is really an appetizer size . My son had the short ribs pot pie. Both dishes were delicious. We ordered the Brussels sprouts side dish. It took forever to come out of the kitchen and then it was undercooked but we were able to get to the play on time!
We had 8 PM tickets for the Hartford Stage and 6 PM reservations at Trumbull Kitchen. We ordered two appetizers and our main dishes. The first appetizer came within 15-20 minutes - but the second appetizer came about 40 minutes later. I noticed groups around us complaining to the wait staff about the delay for their food. A couple near us - who was there before us - left before their food arrived as they had tickets elsewhere. We let the maitre'd know that we also needed our food before 7:30. It was brought to us around 7:40 in a brown paper bag. Only one meal was delivered. Something was terribly wrong - or mismanaged at this restaurant on this particular night. No one was receiving their food.
Love the food at Trumbull Kitchen. The space is a bit crowded for conversation. I felt like the couple next to us was part of our table. Not sure if this is more space in the back or if there’s a second floor to spread the tables out a bit.
The food was excellent and the joint was jumping. People of all ages! We'll definitely be back again soon.
Best burgers just messy
Appetizer was delicious, components of entrees were good. Biscuit on pot pie left little to be desired. Dessert was excellent, service was great.
We were a little worried when the $12 oyster appetizer came out with only 3 oysters that we were at one of those places that charges a lot for little food but luckily when the main courses came out (pork shank and beef rib pot pie) they were plenty of food and delicious! Could have easily saved leftovers and eaten dessert but since we were just visiting and only in town for a few days we opted to eat our full meals. Would definitely come back if we visit again but still a pricey night out.
All was good except the 2 options for some menu items are not clearly described. For example, pad thai was offered at something like 14/27. We assumed a $27 serving of pad thai had to be for a group. $27?! We were wrong. That was the dinner option and it was literally, a bowl of pad thai that you could pick up at any Thai restaurant for $15 or less.
Other than that our food, drinks and service were satisfactory.
My all time downtime Hartford favorite restaurant. Every time I dine there I feel that way!!
It’s a consistently good experience at Trumbull Kitchen!
Great food, great price but our waitress (Briana) was fantastic. She gave us great recommendations and was extremely pleasant during our entire evening there
Never disappointed at TK. Nice atmosphere, food always spot on, good bar to hang out for happy hour as well.
Trumbull Kitchen is living on its reputation. The food was just okay. We had the shrimp lettuce wraps, tasty but too much oil. Fondue with steak fries, not great. The Crackling Pork entree was dry. The waitress was efficient, but was mailing it in and there weren't many people in her section. On the positive side the host was warm and friendly and parking was easy. Also, do not plan on walking around after dinner, the place is deserted after 6pm.
An outstanding experience with unique offerings and great service. Had the special pork belly tacos with jicama slaw for appetizer and it was exceptional! For our entrees we had the braised short ribs and salmon and both were beautifully presented with amazing flavors. We ended our meal with a carrot cake waffle with cream cheese icing, ice cream, and toasted coconut. YUMMM!!
Our server Mary informed us that Thursday is half price wine bottle night which was a special surprise. She was so attentive, even signed us up for the Max reward card. The highlight of my meal was the carrot cake waffle with ice cream. This was hands-down the most delicious dessert ever!!
As usual, I was not disappointed with the food or service. I love Trumbull Kitchen!
Our meals were outstanding, skirt steak and the salmon. We had to put our forks down to slow our eating. The food was so good, we couldn't eat it fast enough. Our server was wonderful. She took care of our special order of no-carbs with ease.
Expansive menu has options for almost every dining desire. Great service and excellent presentation. My chopped greek salad with grilled salmon was delicious.
